  • Everything is Broken!! Just another day of harvest!
The goal of the Grain Bin Safety campaign is to reduce the occurrence of grain bin accidents by raising awareness of the hazards and by raising funds to equip first responders with the tools and training needed to respond quickly when necessary in the event of a grain bin accident. The funds raised will be used to purchase Grain Bin Rescue kits and training for our first responders.
Nominate Your Local First Responders: Best point of contact at your department? What equipment does your department/responders need? Is there a specific brand of equipment your community uses as a combined effort with other local departments? Any other information you think we might find useful? Please send request to givingback@mnmillennialfarmer.com
Zach and Becky Johnson will assemble a panel of volunteers to review request a distribute donations accordingly.
Funds raised will be distributed to rural first responders to purchase grain bin rescue systems and training.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

My wife and I have been following your channel for a couple of weeks now and we wanted to get some back history, so we started with the January 2020 videos and worked our way up to this one.... After we binged watched the last 12 episodes last night, we looked at each other and thought that was better than Netflix lol.... We would almost be willing to pay for such great content! :)

How the hell do you gain the skillz to fix any random mechanical thing like a pro, is he educated mechanic, work under someone for a while, previous farmer? And why/how did he end up working for this zoomer-boy when he clearly could start his own maintenance business.

Onyx is probably a little too young to actually know how important his contrabution is right now. He's helping to keep the harvesting aspect running as smooth as possible, he's learning different aspects of the entire operation of the family life and last but certainly not least he's giving Grandpa a much needed chance to get that pesty knee healed up although I still think Grandpa will be back a little sooner than he probably should be lol. You can tell this apple didn't fall far from the tree. Great job Zach if raising a successful young man.

I love watching your videos, I Change a lot of bearings at work, watching you do that was painful. that bearing at work would have been about a 15 min job.
    tips:,
    _never ever use a hammer
-throw the file away the only reason for it is to fix where you hit the shaft with the hammer
-put a wire wheel on an impact always use safety glasses on this one it throws the little wires off.
-make the shaft look like it was chromed using the wire wheel
-pry the bearing off, a really nice bearing puller is very worth the cost.
-lube helps but only to get it started, i dont usually have the fancy wd40 stuff on had so used motor oil seems to work well. do not lube it until it looks like chrome.
-if it will still run, then run it and use sand paper strips while the shaft spins this is faster than the wire wheel method. its also more dangerous.
also if it comes to cutting the bearing off a lot of the time a pipe wrench can get the sleeve moving after most of the bearing is gone, rotate and pull at the same time.

I thought Jim was changing a bearing, but it turns out he was just waxing his shaft.

I’d love 360 acres to be in four different fields 🤦‍♂️ that would be about 25 different fields for us at least 😂

Continuing the baseball analogy, once grandpa’s knee is fixed will you “send him to the farm”?

It was so cold combining in Northern Alberta that the hot dinner on the plate was cold by the time it got to you. Man, I am glad the green machines weren't broke down. Loved this video cause of so many memories of home on the farm. 86 degrees here today with 80% humidity making the real feel 96. Go boys go!

Jim, what a class act. Seems like the easiest going fella around. Hard working and ready to go. Hope your dad is feeling better. I sat around for 6 weeks after i had my knee operated on. Years of farming and then 6 years of Rugby beat the snot out of them. The key to recovery post surgery is rest and the rehab. You're doing a great Job Zach, and Onyx (sp?) can't get the smile off his face. :)
