It's because Dream was also kinda against of the fact that his brother, foolish, became the king at such a young age that's why he wanted to grow up fast and to help him carry some of the burdens on his brother's shoulder, but as dream said, foolish wouldn't let him because foolish wants him to live a normal and happy childhood:( And yes, I know this is a spoiler but-^^
