Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

At 20:41, there are multiple decals on one part, there’s the Trailmakers logo under a red gradient. Makes me more excited for what’s to come!

18:33 Yes, they actually brought back explosion for engines. They said its not going to be tnt level of explosion, only a cool visual and small nudge for this ''finisher'' effect when something is destroyed.

i love how they combine the damage for the whole vehicle up to a threshold, but they should really ramp up how much damage heavy things, falling fast, without wheels or suspension take, like an exponential curve for weight vs damage, walkers would do better to seperate the foot on suspension to keep the damage low, instead of the whole leg
Dang Trailmaker keep pop up more and more updates. Looks like we're getting GTA 6 before Axolotgame finally release Scrap Mechanic's update.

18:19 Powercore powered blocks now explode when they take enough damage, they mentioned that in the first dev diary iirc
There is a decal in the glowing section called "dots" and can be used to look like the three glowing dots decal shown in the video.
Make planes that fly themselves using logic and then see who's AI plane lasts longest in multiple catagories such as avoiding human flown planes or takeoff and landing

I'm not a Trailmakers player and I might never be (just not my interest of gaming with my finite time) but I truly love watching the game and learning all I can about it through videos. The Devs seem top-tier and it just makes Scrap Mechanic look so rough from a Dev-care standpoint. In the years I've been watching Scrapman... Trailmakers has continued forward in leaps and bounds while Scrap Mechanic has completey stagnated itself in such an unfortunate and disappointing way. They used to both seem so bright
I absolutely love that they are just continuing to update this game and make it better. Not just make a whole new game like most would
? No game studio does that and for the content they push out it's quite mid
With the passenger seats, an idea you could do is like escort missions where you have the goal of taking the passenger to another part of the map while others try and stop you from reaching that area. Like going around the map in airborne while two others chase you, and you can do 4 rounds adding up the time of your team together on the escort side and the winning group has the longest time.
One person would make the escort vehicle with like a power core limit of 8 or so, while the person making the chasers can only have a certain weapon, with a power core limit that is similar. The escort could have different variations, where it all lands based, sea based, and other variations that could be really fun to play with.
I agree with your auto brake comment. hopefully they will let us bind it to any button.
Side note, is that pop up headlights I see!?

That initial hit in the impact trailer is promising for better collision physics in general, hopefully you guys can do some more complex things with that, because it makes things like pit maneuvers possible and not unreliable.

I know he can do it with kosmo but convincing kAn to do something that he will get a third views than his sm vids is hard.
It’s going to be so nice when a wheel doesn’t fall off the moment it nicks a corner. Going to help a TON with balancing form and function in my stuff.

I was in awe watching the impact damage in the Dev Diary. It's insane how much they've improved it.
the new collision physics could potentially break all glitch welds
Parts with power cores will now have a small explosive output when destructed!
17:18 you can see the F1 car that turned into the cluster has a 4 diameter to 2 diameter barrel piece.
the roll cage on the new f1 seat is called a halo
looks like rerunning some of the challenges on muliplayer mondays might need to be redone where the wins were mainly impact damage
A keybind in the driver seat or individual wheels for handbrake. They could even have a strength setting. That's it. That is the main thing I want.

at 3:20 it's not steering but I belive it's double wishbone suspension

Some things I noticed were:
-In the first trailer it appears as if there are 0.5 tall wedges.
-When the passenger seat is enabled, it actually removes the visual controls on the seat.
-It looks like there’s going to be a new suspension and steering piece.
-Wheels don’t sink into the ground
-No weird bouncing or getting launched while driving on a flat surface.
-Looks like there is a LOT better grip on wheels.
-Exploding engines (probably toggleable)
-DEFINITELY overlapping decals (20:41) you can see that the gradient is overlapping the Trailmakers logo.
-Letter decals? (22:00)
-Camera zoom? (22:10) (I’m on console so idk if that was already a thing)
-Possibly a new race in the far future (24:50) in the bottom left of the map.

im pretty sure the wedges are just piston clipping.....
That’s probably the case, but there was is always the possibility.
I think whn the update drops, you should experiment with how the new collisions work, I suggest building some sort of long wall like structure to use as the test "subject", and then a relatively fast car to use as the "projectile", and see how far back the damage goes at different speeds
You could do the bayblade arena thing again, that would be way more consistent after this update! :D
Could you possibly do a sort of beginners guide to trailmakers in 2024? The best tips, hints, building tricks etc etc for newer players coming into the game
i honestly hate how many dlcs trailmakers has been putting up, i get 2 or 3 but the whole game costs more than elden ring, and we get like 3 new blocks every update
the main reason I left trailmakers for other games like Brick Rigs and Scrap Mechanic...
don't get me wrong, I like trailmakers, and I'm okay with the bigger dlc expansion packs, it's just all of the smaller visual only packs that get me.

a suggestion, or two, for this new update to come. make racers for the flat track (power core limit up to the participants, as well as block count) the caveat, is it needs to have a method to hop or jump, whether that means some piston mechanism, or rockets, whatever, and then you race in an attempt to take shortcuts or sabotage one another with ONE gun set into the front of the vehicle.
so one weapon, and a method to "hop" the vehicle over the walls, or perhaps the other vehicles.
the second is a dynamite and emp challenge.
while typing this, i had an idea for a third. overpowered convoy versus combat racers.

If you want a multi-player challenge to revisit, beyblades is a MUST. And you could totally do a destruction type challenge on the new race track where instead of the human guided missles you can just have quick and fragile little buggies vs 'normal' race cars.
At 4:01 there is a new part on the back
i think its the grid of dots in the glowing decal section, just enlarged and moved to the side. but im so hyped for this update omg
Maybe something you could do for the new flat race track is one person races through the track while the other(s) try and stop them using stuff like cannons and missiles flying beside/above the track?
I wonder if since they brought up walkers, if they might be considering an update that specifically introduces a bunch of parts that are good for them. Would be interesting to see them introduce special hinges with a lot of logic needed to make them work already programmed in and suspension designed to handle the motion. Not to mention special foot parts that might actually let you get a decent mount of speed going.
Like you mentioned, the damage will be so cool for things like destruction derbys, battle bots, bey blades and maybe rock em sock em robots.
This impact damage overhaul will be great for people for example in rally mode that get a little bit too much air time than is optimal for not losing crucial parts, so yeah, I'm well excited for this update, especially for the new parts too! 😮😮😮
i hope the Rallye Island will get some sort of Sandbox mode or something so we can race against friends in the same lobby
Day 7: Idea for Trailmakers cooperation challenge: two teams of two people each, you build a vehicle for both teams to use. One person from a team controls one half of the vehicle, and the other person controls the other half. Both people have to be pressing the shoot button to shoot. You make truly amazing content ScrapMan! Please keep your channel alive.
i dont know if ths was suggested before, but with the helipad near the end i got an idea for a new video/series, you can make viewers tournaments, diferent tipes of race/events, while you watch and coment, i do not know how dificult would be to organize something like that in discord, but it would be cool to see.
you should do evolution based flying rockets verses planes so basically planes verses rockets
I've been putting dynamite in my builds for a long time. Usually next to engines or center of mass depending on type of build. Makes game more exciting
I hope this makes dynamite explosion from collisions more consistent as well. And with that in mind, some of the torpedo/missile challenges could use a redo as well.

also at 16:14 (a better view of it at around 13:44 (might need to go back a few frames)) the car in front on the left hand side has some new headlights i think. 17:42 also has a new piece, theres a very flowy back engine cover thing thats not just a bunch of wedges

About the Auto-brake. I wish for them to add a brake servo block that can be linked/configured to the wheels, just like engines. To add a separate brake button input.
Does the old Dethrone mode still exist? That would be tons of fun with the new collision damage system, I miss you guys playing that.
I hope they also add setting to turn up/down the impact damage
Because some people in multiplayer might want vehicles to break 50% faster or slower
You should do a build where the faster you go, the lower FOV you get, kinda like the g forces acting on a racer. You can use the camera block to do so.
I think the f1 car shows new suspension and, of course, a new steering hinge

16:46 i think that is Pop Up headlights, not sure if it is but it could be. For example, a 1st gen Mazda mx5 has pop Up headlights among a bunch of other Cars. You could compare the lights in the video with the lights on a Mazda mx5 if you want to find out👍
The car you focused on with the power core decal and potential pop up lights looks to have new wheels too, the tires look very thin unless it's just good decal work

@@irrelevantsafety There are 7 logic gates (technically 8 if you include the buffer gate), but Trailmakers only has 3. We are missing the nand gate, the nor gate, the not gate, and the xnor gate.

Mountain in my low speed planes they won't turn into a fine mist
Also for the the triple light decal (15:15 ish) I think its just one glow circle just on 3 separate 1x2 armor plates
ALSO do the parts now loose efficiency as they get damaged, that would be cool
It will be weird seeing a destruction derby where Kan's build doesn't just randomly disassemble itself from being brushed by a feather.
They should add scratching, like if a block gets damaged, it makes the aerodynamics worse for that block

I'm amazed that the game still doesn't feature altitude-dependent air density. This would give aircraft an operating ceiling, and make speed records easier at altitude, adding a lot of realism to the game, at what seems like very little cost in complexity.
Been watching you for years scrapman I still remember your very first trailmakers video in like the very early beta
Does this mean. If I build a two seat creation- I'll actually get into the right seat? I mean. I like the gunners seat. But, I also like to get away. A turret seat would be good too.
Seat Priority would be nice. You'd be able to guarantee entering the driver seat if it's empty.
Well with the one car that exploded, I thought explosive destruction derby. The rule is just have the explosive on the front side of your driver's seat.
3:05 ScrapMan that "roll cage" is called a "Halo." Its in F1 cars and in Indycars here in the states.

You should make a plane scared of flying, where the higher it gets, the more it breaks and I think it would be funny if the last stage just made it blow up

you need to revisit the centrifuge because the impact update will stop you from accidentally no-drag glitching
Who can make the most easily damaged vehicle challenge. Everyone makes their vehicle then you drive it off a cliff or into a wall or anything that'll damage it and the winner is whoever takes the most damage. Bonus point if you can make it fall apart old school style as if there was no damage update.
Scrapman is just excited 'cause this means a buttload of content for him. XD

Ah man, they are improving the vehicle damage so much it reminds me of the “one hit, insta kill” damage.
Idea: flying derby cars vs an op aircraft
Another idea I just thought of was motorcycles vs an op car (don’t remember if you’ve done already though)
I really hope there's a new type of thrust, maybe different engines models from Bulldawg, Raw and Dragon
They should add a destruction slider so you can make vehicles more fragile
I actually hope they make the "Autobraking" feature something you can toggle so that you can still choose to roll without engine power or limited power.

They should definitely change the falling damage, how does a car survive falling from so high with minimal damage? The rest also feels a bit strong judging by how fast the are driving into a wall
The impact damage seems very forgiving to the point it looks OP and unrealistic, but then again we always reset our vehicle at the sightless hint of damage so it might as well be that way. Looks promising!
Then again, if we can fly a jet into a mountain and just bounce off it's gonna look kinda weird.

Still wish y’all would find a reason to make float planes / seaplanes / flying boats for something, take off from the “harbor” docks and land out in the sea for something using the Rescue blocks to build the planes’ flotation method. You don’t have to do pure “human guided” all the time.
