I was just a kid in 2005, but I remember stumbling across the episode of "Byte This" where Matt called in and started airing out all the dirty laundry and berating Lita, before this was a storyline (I think). Then when he started showing up and beating up Edge all over the arena, he became one of my favorites lol. V1 Matt Hardy was something else man.
SummerSlam 2005 was great with the infamous HBK selling match against Hogan while Orton vs Taker was decent, Batista vs JBL was intense, Edge vs Matt was brutal, Eddie vs Rey was great and Y2J vs Cena was solid given this was one of the first times that fans were kinda turning on Cena
Only reason fans turned on him is cause of how over Christian was and he didn’t even get a 1 on 1 match against Cena but they drafted him to smack down to hault is momentum
