A fantastic produced and presented video, Adam. You have a definite talent for this type of presentation. Stunning effectiveness and clarity. Cheers mate. ✝️😔🇬🇧🇺🇸
I only heard of the princess Alice disaster from reading a book on Jack the Ripper, one of his victims Liz stride used to tell everyone that her husband and children died in the disaster (they didn’t) but I could never understand why we all knew so much about the titanic but never knew about the princess Alice especially me being a London,so many people died on the awful day,Thanks for telling their story 🙏
@@Adam-Gates-Mudlark Theres to many books on the ripper you will be researching forever, you would be better off researching his victim’s and her name will come up and her past,It was said she used to sleep rough in Trafalgar Square and in Whitechapel and used the princess Alice story to gain sympathy and maybe a little drink money etc..poor woman 😞
Love this video Adam! Great job! Perhaps you could leave a bit more time for the reading screens? Maybe Im just a slow reader but I had to keep rewinding. Still, I enjoyed it very much!
Very sad story. I had to research this a few years ago. What’s also very sad is that 111 years later, in August 1989, there was another tragedy on the Thames when the pleasure boat Marchioness was struck by a dredger Bow Belle with the loss of 51 lives. It was this event that led to the RNLI being asked to provide lifeboats on the Thames. Tower Lifeboat Station is the busiest in the country.
What an amazing and awful thing but glad you are not letting history disappear, glad you are reaching out and spreading its story. People do not understand the importance of our history, they don't understand all the lessons that were learned so we don't have to repeat them. I think that is part of the problem of society now, they don't look at what came before them to create a better road ahead. Do you ever think of strange things like me lol like what was life like before toilet paper or running water (well other than paying a boy to jog a bucket up the hill to the house) or simple things we use like microwaves and cars... I think all we have done is speed us up to go no where sometimes. It takes skill to build and keep a fire going and the goal should be to tend to your car to keep it running and in good shape for a long time. Isn't it sad that they have to restore old cars only because they were not taken care of or that people don't even know what a good home cooked meal is like? These were the strange things I thought about with the lock down. I mean hearing about all these long lines of people to get food at pantries and people getting it and not even knowing how to cook it because they only ate out all the time I also think about all the work I did to teach Boy Scouts to read maps and use a compass but now days people just ask their phone for directions BUT is it only going to be those Boy Scouts who know how to get somewhere if the electric were to go away? Sometimes I find that rather scary. Also people have become so lazy in the name of progress. I am glad I taught the Scouts how to cook out, even though simple meals they learned to cook, also taught them how to change their oil and tires, walked one thru how to change out his brake pads on the phone Sometimes I felt like I was just banging my head against a wall trying to teach them Morse Code or the Amendments to our Constitution or how to do a budget money for a family of 5, with house payments, car notes, food, clothes etc for a month or giving them an imaginary job and setting up how to pay taxes and figure out income. I never thought before that people just use their smartphones for all that now, there is an app that does everything but wipe their rear ends. In a way it scares me. I was glad I raised my son going to church I think it also gave him faith which in this crazy time we live we need it to balance everything out LOL Sorry got to babbling lol I do it worst when I hurt and haven't slept because of the pain lol my stupid leg (restless leg syndrome) would wake me up every time I fell asleep LOL I can't win for losing LOL Again THANK YOU for the history lesson and I am so glad you got to go to London LOL Surprised you didn't jump the railing of the bridge to get to the shoreline lol bet it was tempting lol. Have great rest of your day

Did the Queen M sink too?
Thankfully not
Why was the blame sent to Alice? Such a shame 🥺
They were both to blame, I believe. Search it
@@katiedavidson2988 Yes both ships 🛳
Alice company sued bywell 20,000£ and bywell wanted £2,000 so they both was to blame
