I agree the farmers should stand up for their lives but i also think they should start growing crops instead of rearing cattle. Beans and other crops are a lot more sustainable and use a lot less resources. If they can water and feed cattle they could be growing beans etc with the same resources. It's just excuses coz they have no faith in making the transition.

Yeah the 4% "small Farmers" left there... Its not about the money for the other 96%...(And no their are not "poor") in fact german agricultural landowners in average are in the top 15% income class. EU bureacracy at its finest. EU has embraced the climate change and green agenda wholesale and imposed frighteningly harsh legislation on EU farmers kiling off their ability to farm efficiently or in order to make a profit. The dutch farmers have been protesting for months and months because the EU has banned certain types of fertiliser making it impossible for them to produce half the yields they had previously. And so it goes on. European farmers are waking up to this fact and are not happy as you can see. Once the French get inolved with mass demonstrations let's see how far the EU will begin to back down. Why is the pollution of ensured capitalism and supply control acceptable but basic common sense is not? Simplified how protests and strikes work in Germany:
      1. You register your planed protests (Where, When, Reason,..).
      2. By constitution the protest must be approved and allowed with some strict regulated exceptions (risk of riots).
In case the Strike/Protest is denied by the local administration -> you can sue for your right to protest (Judges clear if reason given for denying is valid or not).
      3. When approved, police will work with the organisators of the protests to ensure securety (like in this video the convoy was escorted by police).
The Farmers wanted to block Highway entrances with their tractors and administration wanted to forbid this part of the protests. Then a judge from the responsible court decided that blocking the highways as a part of the protests must be allowed.
Currently Lorry drivers and trucking companies support the farmers and partly join the protests.

    Thank you for your interest!
Here is my opinion as a German farmer:
That's just the tip of the iceberg
Farmer protests are by no means a German phenomenon; in recent years, for example, there have been massive farmer protests in the Netherlands. The reason for this is a plan by the Dutch government to close up to 3,000 farms. The Dutch government offers them over 100 percent of the value of their property, but in return they have to accept a ban on working in all EU countries. In fact, this is a forced expropriation sweetened with money, which Dutch farmers have been protesting against for years, because anyone who refuses should be forcibly expropriated.
The desired death of the farm
The fight against allegedly man-made climate change is once again given as an excuse. It is said that farms are producers of climate-damaging exhaust gases and nitrogen.
In Belgium, too, farmers have repeatedly protested against regulations that threaten their existence and are often imposed by the EU. There is also a decline in farms in Belgium; in the last 13 years the number of farms has fallen by 14 percent. In the Netherlands, the number of farms has already fallen by around a third between 2010 and 2020, which is a similar rate of farm death as in Germany.

Not just expensive and unrealistical, much more importantly, absolute rubbish. The climate science, environmental management and agricultural science is not on their side. Farmers in UK are environmentally sound and know how to farm sustainably on a much deeper level than government managers and activists can even imagine. Activists do not understand that what they are campaigning for is the complete dominance of food manufacturers and highly processed unnatural food. Go farmers!

We should support our local farmers the best you can support any action they take. We've seen over recent years, the government don't have the publics best interests at heart, they're all self serving idiots and it's not going to change when Labour get into office so we should 100% give all our support to our farmers and fisherman ect.

Thank you GB News for taking the lead and showing this when the other main stream broadcasters won't. This is so important as it is all about producing affordable food.I really hope our government don't do the same stopping the use of rebated diesel. We have our owns issues to deal with at the moment in the UK with vast areas of prime agricultural land under water in the East of the country. Yes, we have have had a huge amount of rainfall. However river maintenance which is the duty of the Environment Agency (a government body) has not been taking place. This resulting in reducing the flow of water out to sea and so causing inland flooding.

We need a food system that is not so impactful on the earth. Animal agriculture is the biggest driver of deforestation, biggest driver of species extinction and contributes to heart disease, diabetes and cancer. It also emits huge amounts of methane and carbon dioxide and uses growth hormones and antibiotics to boost sales. We need a plant based food system. We have to understand this and we have to start listening to the scientists. Animal agriculture is heavily subsidised. Subsidies need to go to farmers who are growing plants that are healthy and high in protein. Mushroom farmers need to be given financial support. We have to be weaned off animal products ie meat and dairy. The future is a plant based system...for our children and grandchildren.

They are more than only the Farmers. Logistic companies and lot of more people joined the protest. And it's not only about the diesel stuff. It's something about the whole stupidity of our politicans here in germany. Most of the member of the government have never learned a job or left the university with a degree. And even they have, they have nothing to bring with into their job. The economic minister has partly written a book for children. The foreign minister can't say one single sentence in german (!) without a hilarious failure. She is demanding that Putin has to turn for 360° so the war can stop. Or counting 560 days in a year. Or telling about towns 100000km away. Instead of Ukraine she says Cocaine. Instead of Cobalt she's talking about Goblin (Kobold in german). Since she studied in UK and made some degree there, she was talking in south africa about a "Bacon of hope", while it was obvious she tried to say "Beacon of hope". What did she learn over there? The university gives no reports about that. So the general problem ist, even these politicans having got a really good idea, noone trust them that they can have any good idea. Whatever they say, it's garanteed bullshit.
