I'm surprised to see the fruit and veg stall is still there outside the post office. My brother worked there at weekends when he was 13 in 1958. It still looks the same. Thanks for the memory :)
I've just enjoyed watching this, too. I used to live in St. Gabriel's Rd, and I used to walk around Cricklewood Broadway all the time. Do you remember there used to be a Gaumont cinema right near the Broadway, and quite often there were these huge colourful steam tractors outside the Crown public house. Obviously, it all looks very different now, but great memories!
This is the third tourist video I have seen now that filmed Cricklewood (where I used to live most of my life). I dunno why you tourists do it, it's kind of a dump but keeping things on records would be kind of nice for future generations so thank you : ]
On that particular day I was working (a footfall survey) on the main thoroughfare. It was rainy most of the day & whenever i took cover from the rain i took these "snapshots". I think Kilburn & Cricklewood is a lovely down to earth area of London...
My husband was in the ´Sharma´ Indian restaurant on the Broadway one evening in the early 1980´s and witnessed one of the local alcoholics named ´Shakey´(for obvious reasons ) down a pint bottle of purple methylated spirit in one hit. He will never forget that shocking experience. So very , very sad.
