I got second in a Grand Prix and that felt pretty satisfying to me at least. Way better than blowing up at the finish line. Or dying in the first lap on Silence because you took the turn too tight and fell off the edge after hitting the ramp.

Super Mario 35 was announced with a limited date. Pac-Man 99 is not Nintendo's responsibility (its Namco Bandai). Tetris 99 (which is Nintendo's responsibility) has been up since 2019. While Nintendo does like limited time things, they usually announce them ahead of time. F-Zero 99 hasn't had a limited date announced so it might have a good shot of lasting for a long while. After all, Splatoon 1's Wii U servers are still up.
They will take it down in a few months.

The Skyway is a really clever mechanic. Being back further means you have more chances to collect sparks, so it makes it almost impossible to get in first and stay there
The latter is also compounded by the fact that Red Bumpers tend to be deployed in front of the leader, and between them crowding the track and going off at the slightest bump, it takes some serious skill to hold the lead. (Fire Stingray seems best at it with high top speed and cornering.)
Oh you can get in first and stay there, it just means you need to either have burnt a lot of Boost energy or need to deal with increasing amounts of traffic drones on further laps.
@@Blunette5194Getting close to the front using a bunch of boost, then KOing someone who burnt too much trying to get ahead to refill it is a surefire way to get a solid frontrun. You still have to contend with bomb bumpers, but it certainly solves the biggest downside of frontrunning. Not to say this is a strategy I've been able to pull off, I don't exactly have the best eye for burnt out vehicles :P

I'm blown away at how well designed this game is, it feels more thought out than some of the mainline mario karts...if Nintendo kills it in a few months I'll be so sad :(
I find it amusing that almost every time Ryu goes to the skyway he says "let's go!". I bet he doesn't realize he's even doing that.

@@elitefdc2171 not really, Death Race ends when you kill everyone, here it ends after 4 laps even if no other players died, it's more similar to regular f zero races, just with only one life
F zero 99 dirty rally dont boost and pit has been removed!
Here's a tip: You recover spin attack by jumping up ramps. So go ahead and spin attack people before hitting a ramp!

Good video ryu. Hint: about the magnets is to tap the shoulder buttons to slowly veer away from them when they pull you towards the wall.

I'm an auto racing fan & that kind of thing has only happened twice that I know of with 2 drivers a piece.
Assumingly based on the graphics, the tiebreaker is who was highest in points going in. So with you being the points leader going in to the final race, you were the true technical first place overall.
I totally want more of this, it's damn fun to watch.

That f-zero wall ping pong is still so fucking traumatizing. "Things aren't going well and you are about to explode" is a signal your brain takes pretty seriously apparently.
Watching you play this, again, was a lot of fun! Racing games aren't a place where I want realism, and so F-Zero series has been my favorite racing franchise since the 90s. I like F-Zero X a lot, but the original is still great, and this is so nostalgic! The tracks are different, but that's still Death Wind,and with the same classic music from way back when. It's different enough that it doesn't just feel like you are playing a 33-year old game, but it still feels like you are playing F-Zero! 😊
The Wild Goose was also my typical machine pick, way back, so it's nice to see you favor Pico's ride, today, instead of the Stingray.
Hope you keep playing, and posting, videos of this, and that it keeps an active crowd, at least for a while.
This is probably old news for you, but in Port Town 2 you can pass trough the zigzag part just going foward, you will at max have a scratch in the paint if you are not right at the middle (and is a good place to spin any "bumper" coming behind you).
This is also the same right before the finish line, that weird "square" curve can be just be passed going straight trough the middle.

A good way to deal with Port Town’s magnets that I’ve found is to tilt away from the magnets
I had one race where I managed to qualify at the very end because literally enough people got crashed out to bring the total number of ranks remaining above the rank-out limit. So I was like 81st and 3 people crashed bringing me up to 79th RIGHT AS THE CARRIER WAS COMING TO GRAB ME.
Also they didn't have the Switch Lite in mind for this game... man my thumb hurts.

You should figure out the best spots to get on the skyway to best capitalize on it. Like since you struggle with the magnets in Port Town II you should save up your skyway for that section

If there's gonna be a full fledged F-Zero game in the future, Nintendo MUST implement such a 99 online multiplayer mode in it! Imagine an even more detailed customize mode where you can completely build your own vehicle in a way. Unlocking tons of new vehicle parts and more. Not just new colors, stickers and stuff.. I can't help myself but to think that this game is some sort of experiment. If it's popular enough then they're gonna do somthing similar in a new entry perhaps?
Maybe even building own courses and sharing them online? Yeah i know i'm fantasizing a lil too much but come on.. Nintendo did it with mario maker already so maybe this also could be a thing in F-Zero? Wouldn't this be a way to make the franchise tastier to many?

Congratulations Ryukahr! Very Well Played. I am curious if they might bring leagues to this like in the SNES game and then have higher caliber players compete against each other. I want to think there was a Knight League, Queen League and a King League in the game.. I think in time something like that would make it more interesting and give room for even more growth potential. Anyways... For someone that does not even have a Switch at this time, I appreciate being able to ride along on Your F-Zer0 Journey... Keep up the Good Work.
The King and Queen leagues and their tracks are listed as "coming soon" under practice mode, so its safe to say they will come eventually

Weird to think it's been over a month since this game launched. I think the hype has died down for F-Zero 99, and now the only people left playing it are SUPER good. I can pretty much kiss my hopes of ever finishing in 1st or completing a Grand Prix good-bye...

Out of the various 99’s Nintendo has come out with this is the best one out of all really makes me hope they give us a new FZero one day
OK at first I was disappointed in the announcement because I wanted a proper F0 game but this honesty looks pretty sick. It makes me wanna buy a big switch instead of my switch light just to play it.
I tried this game for a couple hours, I can't get chances to do anything and can't get past C rank. I love F-Zero, but this game don't love me.

Got a first overall in grand prix at level 8. Very satisfying. Got 1st on the first two courses so was able to play safer on the final three. I wouldn't call it a strat, but advice if you are going for a win. Go all out on the first two courses.
