    Working on this right now. During intensive testing by my 14 month old, she managed to pull the shelf part out. I added a threaded insert to the shelf and drilled holes in the side to accept a threaded male knob. Still adjustable and secure.

    Great project...As you watch videos of this type there is always a know it all or someone making fun of a project and or the way it's being performed...So please this is not my intention...I have found when cutting plywood of the type you are using... I use Diablo ultra trim blades or blades with fine or extra fine teeth...Even with the jigsaw maximum fine teeth even metal blades...I run ultra fine teeth even in the chop saw to cut 2x4s...Clean smooth cuts...Keep up the good work...Santa Cruz California

    • @CasualBuilds
      @CasualBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the tip! I do need to invest in more blades, I've just got the one for the table saw and I can't even tell you the last time the blade on my miter saw was cleaned/replaced. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!

    @casual Builds, are the plans for using a cnc?

  • @bighead0107
    @bighead0107 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good work. I would recommend getting a plug cutter. This way you can plug your pocket holes with the same specie of wood and they are less noticeable. I haven’t tried using a plug cutter on plywood. I wonder how it would work out?

    • @CasualBuilds
      @CasualBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it would show the layers of the plywood, but I'm not sure - never tried it! I do need to get some plug cutters, I'm tired of only using the poplar dowels that they have at the store haha

    Love the build! Could you tell me the rough dimensions? I want to see if it will work for our kitchen, (wanting to see if it can slide under the bar counter top) if not any suggestions on where I could cut about 1-2 inches off the height?

    • @CasualBuilds
      @CasualBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Cliff! In my plans, it's 36" tall. You could easily trim it down a little at the top and bottom to remove a few inches so it can sit under your counter top.

    Great video! The final product looks great. I'm thinking about making something similar. Does the platform slide out of the dado when the child leans forward toward the counter? Would it make sense to put the stop-dados on the other side so that the adjustable platform enters from the side facing the cabinets?

    • @CasualBuilds
      @CasualBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! On mine, the platform doesn't move at all - you actually need to use some force to remove it from the dados. It could be from the polyurethane thought, causing a little bit of stickiness. I'm sure that method would work as well. As long as the dados are tight, you shouldn't have any problems!

    Hey Tim, May be a stupid question. Your plans, is that just for the CNC? I don't have one but was hoping to try and make it work with the couple tools I do have. I assume the sizes are in the plans? Great video!

      @@CasualBuilds Looking at the png file. Is there any chance you have the one already set up for the design size? It seems the one in the download is just a bit larger than a 8x10. I'm not sure how to enlarge it to the perfect size to match the dimensions.

      Better than your lungs getting fogged. Get a mask with an exhalation valve and the glasses won’t fog.
