enjaami = en + saami. "en" -> mine and "saami" -> God. The literal meaning of enjaami - "My God". The contextual meaning here -> Grandparents affectionately call their grandchildren "enjaami" which reflects how much they love them(equal to a god). Elders also use this term when trying to console/comfort children as an expression of how much they love them.
That different voice that Arivu is singing with in-between is supposed to mimic grandmother's(elders) voice. The lines that were sung using this different voice are meaningful colloquial sayings by rural elders that were passed down from older generations. Another aspect is the way he is singing these lines is using "Oppari" - a traditional form of music that is still used in funerals for lamenting.
The music instruments used were traditional Tamil music instruments(all the drums) and the drum elements are of Tamil traditional music not of African tribal music as everybody is assuming.
Also the video backdrop with tribal people is supposed to highlight how old the Tamil civilization is. Tamil is one of the oldest classical languages in the world and possibly the oldest civilization with thousands of years of history. Everyone makes tribe elements connections to Africa which is mistaken..

    Some Info on Tamil:
Recently (last 5-10 years) archeologist of mohenjadaro & Harappa (M&H) civilisation (the most advanced old civilisation) has identified to be linked to the Dravidian civilisation of which Proto- Tamil (old Tamil) was the spoken language.
They also claim that Tamil is "the only living ancient or oldest" still speaking language (to current day which is language used to sing "Enjoy Enjaami" in this video)
N that's why archeologist and linguist classify it as the "The lost living civilisation" as the scriptures (Brahmic scripts) found at those M&H excavation sites are similar to those found on pottery at kilazhdi excavation sites in Tamil Nadu as well as at Hampi sites (Dravidian region in South India) where its archeological structure are very similar as in M&H sites in north India
There many wonders too there - temples with chains carved out of granite, fusion of different rocks technology !!, 800-1000 years polished structure still smooth to precision n shining after all these years!! Revolving pillars as in spindle; seven musical note off a single pillar that comes off it on striking different sides of the pillars (delicate hand carving) and many more.
One more pin hole tech used so much so that the shadow of the temple tower's crown's shadow falls upside down instead of upright shadow all built almost 1000 years ago
Also there are many many temples like in maha Balipuram where a circular water tank tub (for bathing) is cut out of rock to a millionth of an inch (circumference of tub) which is machine precision accuracy using only medieval tools
Not forgetting Ellora & Ajanta caves n many more ... I can go on n on .... I was astounded at the craftsmanship and depictions of advanced technology that we use today almost 1500-1000 years ago !!
U need to go over to India to appreciate them - I did n think I should do more if it to learn abt the skills & intelligence of older civilisation throughout the world.
Tamil is classified as the only Super classified languages as classified by Harvard university since Tamil satisfied all 11 prerequisite condition for classification for classical status unlike the rest
Some classical language are Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Hebrew & Tamil, Sanskrit, .
N closest was Hebrew with 9 n the rest below that.with Sanskrit @2 n no hindi in the list surprisingly.
In Tamil languages they coined the 20 more numbers beyond 1 billion n y such high number crunches do they need it unlike only recently we incorporated words such billion zillion trillion quadrillion, tetra zillion n such
So older civilisation were advanced in maths which we don't quite appreciate.
There are 5 most intelligent languages - Tamil, Japanese, Latin, Hebrew, Chinese if not Arabic
The reason bcis the language has continuity in those language and linked to maths development and the claim of intelligence.
    In English the number stops at 10 n there is disconnect between 10 to 19 the continuity stars only after 20 21 23 .. 29 ... 30, 31 ... 50, 51 ... 80 .. 99 , 100, 101..... 111 .... 121 ... 150 to infinity.
So after 10 , 11 shd be read as ten one ten two not eleven or twelve but after 20, 21 is read as twenty one or 33 as thirty three n so on but the disconnect is between ten and nineteen (shd be ten ten (10) to ten nine (19) as per by logic.
Bcos of this shortcomings other languages does not fit into the most intelligent languages per experts who classified it so.
The continuity is what separates these 5 languages from the rest.
There are many more interesting factor - go explore it
Watch Praveen Mohan post on you tube - he is good with explanation n evidences produced during his presentation on you tube (discard the
Mythology part but understand the science part)

It's got deeper meaning & innuendos that goes beyond just the lyrical meaning (translation or trans-diction)
U got connected with whole conceptualisation of the video - the singing, music composition, the vocalist, rendition, instrumentation, cinematography and beautiful lyrics that conveys a simple yet powerful message for our eternity :-
TOGETHERNESS in DIVERSITY with RESPECT for RIGHTS of ALL Creatures-Creation Plant & Animal to LIVE in HARMONY with US all without exhausting Mother Nature & SHE will HEAL and SHIELD us ALL if ONLY we ALLOW Mother Nature to do HER works at her PACE.
The language is Tamil (S.Indian - where is Chennai is based) and just as ARR & u both stating it's just the start n eventually the culmination of other languages will follow from diff global artist & background to make it global - good effort & foresight
Arivu attempts to sing in his grandmothers voice !!
Dhee is the singer of the famous "Rowdy Baby" song hitting in more than 1 billion viewer count in just TH-cam alone (not counting other social media platforms)
Cuckoo - is the Cooing sound of the Cuckoo bird calling out (sounds - cuckoo cuckoo) & so the bird was named cuckoo bird.in English
Just as this song is calling out to all to come together and live together in harmony as a family by respecting every creature's rights & belonging to be so and also sacrifices made by our elders to ensure the world's sustainability as we are all interdependent and should not exhaust our resources thru our irresponsible acts pushing us towards excessive consumerism directed by egoistic & greedy political leaders & biz entities covering people being displaced for all the bad reason as war, slavery, conflict and the likes n they making livelihood away from as refugees or otherwise due to discrimination.
There's more to it if you go deeper ... it's about displacement of people for economic reasons, discrimination at all levels, disparity & disproportionate distribution of wealth as seen by certain biz Corp & political people but very the farmers who puts the food on ur plate is left behind struggling & scraping to make a living n let's come together as one to change and correct the ills sowed n directed by the many few (max 100-500) over the many (6 billion).
Let's hv compassion to spread compassion thru unity with diversity over divisibility
Enjaami is colloquially pronounced, with a village slang
But it's actually EN Sammy (My Dear, My Beloved, My lord) and such is a
Tamil endearment term usually used by elders to address their children or loved ones; esp the grandparents call their grandkids as such.
Oodiya ... is actually Oodi Va (come running)
to me or here (as we beckon come quickly to me) in Tamil language (which is marginally related & spoken in Central African countries too)
Vaango Vaango = Come over, Come over (is sing with a Sri Lankan Tamil slang/twang) instead of Vaanga Vasnga (actual Tamil)

Brief Info on Arivu & Dhee
Dhee is Tamil of srilankan Tamil origin (mother) settled in Australia but now moved to Chennai with Step Dad Santhosh the producer of this video .. She can speak Tamil but can't quite read and write it well as she was brought up in Australia
Like wise Arivu ancestors were from Tamil Nadu near Kutralam - who were taken tho Ceylon (now Srilanka and not ethnic Srilankan Tamils as Dhees's mother Meenakshi Iyer) workers for tea plantation by the Brits when drought that region and was once again displaced after centuries from Srilanka by Srilankan Gov after it got independence from the British.
Which was messed up by the Brits in not sorting the equal rights first as agreed by all parties which was eventually rescinded by the Sinhalese Bandaranayaka PM period
By forcefully removing Tamil of its official status n forcefully inserting Singalese language while removing the Tamil language off school media and how ancient Tamil library and its literal works and arts were burnt down to wipe out Tamil historical traces and that set of the dispute leading to disharmony and friction within the 3 societies -,thanks to one leader (just as the division of India into Pakistan all Bcos Brits messed it up) ... ok enough of this
Arivu tries to narrate the difficulties of people being forcefully displaced and so the importance of ancestors and tiger suede rings and contributions made for their future generation S n that we shd all respect the rights of everyone be it animal plants or creatures as we are one if we become one with Mother Nature
Arivu lamenting denotes that and also he attempts to sing in his grandmother's old creaky voice at certain segment.

Good you want to know more abt Tamil & thanks for that.
    FYI:
    Thatha Thatha = grandfather
    Partee Partee = grandmother
Kalaivettee = Kalai (plough) + Vetee (cutter)
So it's about Farmers, cultivation & Agriculture
    Cuckoo is a real bird
that COOS - making the song cuckoo cuckoo in the morning (wake up calls of nature)
It sounds just like Dhee does in the video calling onto others.
So this cooing bird is called Cuckoo Bird in English just Bcos the bird sings or coos "CUCKOO-CUCKOO"
You would have heard of the famous Swiss Cuckoo Bird Clock - it pops out of the clock and goes Cuckoo Cuckoo to sound the hour for the respective time.
    Annakili is actually
    Annam (swan) + kizhli (parrot)
a name many tamils use to name their girl child meaning beautiful girl (white as swan signifying peace purity & pretty as parrot with nice beautiful eyes n nose)
It is just a name like Lilly or Rose describing beauty for a girl child.
In reality there is no such one bird but individual birds as in swan (Annam) and parrot (Kilizhi)
Cuckoo is a real bird (not just a name to call their children)
Annakili is just a name (no such real bird) - describing a beautiful girl
See previous comment to know more abt Tamil.

Basically this song told us that human live with Nature, Animals, Plants etc. Preserve the Natural Resources, Protect the Mother Nature, Environment, and Ecosystem. Our Ancestors preserve and protect these all important things for us. But in todays greedy, careless, selfish human continuously destroying all important things on Earth. Actually human destroying their future by destroying the Earth. That's not the real humanity. Always remember that human don't live without Mother Nature, human don't exist without this beautiful, wonderful planet. Mother Nature and Earth don't need us but we always dependent on Earth, Nature and Natural Resources, Ecosystem. Without Earth and Mother Nature we are nothing.....

    English subtitle:
    Cuckoo cuckoo
    Grandpa weeding out the friends
    Cuckoo cuckoo
Who's in the trunk hole?it's the kingfisher
    Cuckoo cuckoo
    Swimming frog in the water
    Cuckoo cuckoo
Is in the sister of the caterpillar
Lilly is making fun of me
    My adamant sweet sandalwood
    My jasmine-decked necklace with pearls
    Oh,my native kutralamae
My grandma's shrink bag with betel and nuts
The hands that carry them play the Parai drum
Grandma, grandma, what magic did you do
Valliyamai's grandson tells me the story
Where are my glasses? Take it,my grandson.
Annakilli! Annakilli! Parrot sitting in the banyan tree
Blessing to lead a good life, our ancestors have bequeathed us this soil
Across the river banks and on the fertile fields,
Our forefathers have sung through their life
The lakes and ponds belong To the dogs, foxes, and cats too
    Enjoy, my dear
    Enjoy, my dear
    Come together as one
    Ride on the elephants
    Shower in the rains
    Enjoy, my dear
    Come together as one
    Ride on the elephants
    Shower in the rains
    Cuckoo cuckoo
The hen is laying the egg.
    Cuckoo cuckoo
    Who dolled up the peacock.
    Cuckoo cuckoo
    Algae spreading its green
    Cuckoo cuckoo
    Nest arranged by tiny twigs
The toiling farmer with his fertile fields,
    His sweet-drenched shirt,
    The
    Glittering countrymen
The fire -kindling flute and the earthen pot
Settling in the river banks is the beginning of civilization
Jan Jana janaku Jana,oh my people
Tasting the salt yolk, the source of all energy
Drip blood from leach bite, Strike away the Gilli-Danda
    I planted five trees
    Nurtured a beautiful garden
    My garden is flourishing
    Yet my throat remains dry
    My sea,
    Bank,
    Forest,
    People,
    Lands,
    Clan,
    Place,
    And track
    Enjoy, my dear
    Come together as one
    Ride on the elephants
    Shower in the rains
    Enjoy, my dear
    Come together as one
    Ride on the elephants
    Shower in the rains
    My ancestors guarded the land,
    The devotee that dances;
As the earth rotates around the rooster crows.
    It's excretions fertilized the forests.
    It turned into our country,
    Then our home too,
    What's the matter, what's the matter,my dear?
    What's the matter,my sugarcane?
What's the matter, what's the matter, my dear?
    My darling grandson,what's the matter?
    Bitter Gourd in my canopy.
    It has given us seeds.
    Given us seeds.
Left by our mom and dad.
    Enjoy, my dear

    Ride on the elephants
    Shower in the rains........

First of all, thank you so much for your genuine reaction. Also, I have my responsibility to explain this song with the exact meaning which is missing from the English subtitles.
“Parai” & “Murasu” (Musical instrument) is played in the beginning of the song.
“Parai” & “Murasu” is purely belongs to Tamil tribes (everyone thinks it's an African music played in the beginning) but it's not, followed by they showed “Salangai” wears in both the legs & hands which is followed by the Tamil tribes to express their feelings by the way of dance. This is mostly during auspicious moment, festival, wartime etc.,. Hope you have seen Salangai” wore in “Bharatnatyam” which is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. Bharatanatyam is also one of the oldest classical dance traditions in India which is often are used to express Hindu religious stories and devotions.
So all this shown in the beginning of the song to make positive vibes. And then the soil is shaking. That means, the land is shaking/hearing/feeling/enjoying to the music. And the girl opens her hand from hiding and coming out to say what is emerging right now... rest is the song...
Grandpa is called as “Thatha” in Tamil
She is also singing “Cuckoo Cuckoo” hope everyone know it's a bird. But which bird? The answer is given in the next line. “Annakili Annakili” which is a name that has Tamil origin for girl/women and also it's name of the bird as well which is seen widely in Tamil Nadu 50 years back and now no more because of the expansion of development like Cellphone tower, the loss of forests, plains and other natural systems into agriculture, mines, and urban developments, the draining of swamps and other wetlands, and logging reduce potential habitat for many species
Let's move on further, somehow now you got the context of the song but still the subtitles are not the exact meaning represented in English which caused not understanding the deep message.
So the song start with saying Grandpa weeding out the fields and he finds a kingfisher bird in the trunk hole. The frog is swimming in the water. And here lyrics says the caterpillar is sister. How come? 🤷‍♂️ Because frog eats all kinds of worms except caterpillar since it has a toxic body condition. So caterpillar can go and stay near the frog without fear. This is the concept of these lyrics...
Further, the rapper is singing that my grandma’s has shrink bag (wallet) with betel (Paan) and nuts (Supari) which we have seen already in our life. And then he is telling his own lifestory about his grandma which you can refer the subtitles.
Now the girls is saying that our ancestors left this soil with all these blessings. Our forefathers lived across the river banks and did fertile fields. So at that time, every birds and animals felt safe and happy. Our ancestors also fertile the fields across the river and live happily. She also say that the lakes and ponds belong to everyone, not only for humans that includes birds and animals.
During middle of the song, especially, when the male singing part comes, it is consider as the Mother Nature is singing or saying that “I planted fives trees, Nurtured a beautiful garden, My garden is flourishing, Yet my throat remains dry” that means the Mother Nature gave us 5 element. They are Earth, Space, Water, Air and Land, then why are you still struggling to survive in this world? Because we have failed to save and look after nature. That's why people suffer from not being able to live with nature everywhere in the world. Everyone thinks that this guy is enjoying and dancing 🤦🏻‍♂️that's not the actual meaning of the video.
To conclude the song... the Mother Nature is also asking (when male singing part) ... This is a serious statement “What the matter my dear? my sugarcane? my grandson? and then it says “Bitter Gourd in my canopy, it has given us seeds, Left by our mom and dad... (By the time they shows the old man smiling and feeling happy) Everyone thinks that they are Farmers or Someone came without meaning... actually they are all our ancestor, they left the seeds through our mom & dad... so what is meant by “Seeds” (it's a hidden message) the exact meaning of “Seeds” represent the “Current modern lifestyle” who failed to save the mother nature. In result, Air pollution, Water pollution, poor management of waste, global warming, growing water scarcity, preservation and quality of forests, biodiversity loss, and land/soil degradation etc we face today.
Mother Nature is crying and lamenting to express the own grief and also want to share and assuage. Because of this strong message, this album got very popular all over the world.
At the end of the song, they show the group of people which is a root of how humans diversified from our ancestors to till date.
Thank you once again for your valuable time to read this lengthy message to get understand this song 🙏🏼 ❤️ from Canada
