@5:55 Listening to Ryotaro in Japanese: normal japanese conversation Reading the Subtitles in English: Bloody Shiny Isn't it, mate? Who is this guy? ... I can see my face in it!
Thank you for this amazing video! These works of art are incredible and I am thankful there are still talented craftsmen willing to put in the talent, time, and effort necessary to make such beautiful pieces! No wonder they are passed down from generation to generation, what a treasure to inherit!
Wow, amazing woodwork! I love how shiny it is, and I especially liked that small one with the dragon that was shown at the end. It’s so beautiful! Thanks for the video!
Beautiful pieces of art! I would love to own one but I can already tell from watching the process that they're way out of my budget, lol. I'm glad I could get a glimpse into the production, though!
It was my understanding that tansu helped the household to pack up and move to town for the mandatory six months or so the shogun ordered to keep samurai families off balance so they wouldn't form alliances against him? Basically the classy version of plastic storage tubs or press board and fabric box furniture. 🤣 Once you arrived, they were stacked up and latched together to create furniture and stair cases. Very smart and gorgeous.
Roytaro, how old are you? My wife and I have an argument. She says you're 40 years old and I think you are 49 just like me. Please, can you tell us 😂 Love your channel
I have noticed many Tansu have a "stepped" shape. Most of them in this shape are of antique age. Were Tansu like those used as the primary stairs in some homes or rooms??
Can't show price and have to ask? That just sounds like.. some sort of scam... "ask for discount for something you do not ask price for" could literally add on price.
The reason why he can't show you the price in the video is that it contradicts the price shown in his EC shop. It is not because it is overly expensive. If you are interested, ask him, and you'll be surprised how much actually is given so many processes.

One of the things that I appreciate particularly in Japan is attachment to craftsmanship.
I'm absolutely blown away by how beautiful these pieces are. True artistry ❤
What beautiful craftsmanship.
Clearly a very luxurious item.
Fantastic piece of woodworking, and the lacquering is exquisite
it really shows the creativity and talent of the japanese people 👍
I want a whole dresser sized one, they're so cool and I love that they're still made with wood!
Man that old school Toei intro will always give me nostalgic chills ( and I'm not even Japanese)
I love the intro makes me feel like watching a old anime movie

Bringing us the content Abroad in Japan cannot conceive of!

They are all so beautiful!
Dude these subtitles are killing me, good job!
Does Chris do the subs or something? XD
I have to ask, does Chris Broad do the subtitles for these videos??
Ryotaro's vibes when he speaks English: 😈
Ryotaro's vibes when he speaks Japanese: 😇
I wonder if they can make Tansu as deck boxes for trading card games. Or even just storage for trading cards, given their properties on moisture.
Dope Video and woodwork!
Beautiful.😊

That's actually an interesting tidbit.
I really love the subtitles!
Merry Christmas from Australia🎄🎅🏻🦘
These subtitles are MAD! I'm laughing my ass off. XD
Oh wow! This really makes me want to get my vintage Mahjong looked at now :0
Great craftmanship
Whoaa that's neat. Didn't know these things existed
Love it ❤
I can see my face in it.
Unfortunately yes ...

I wish I am rich so can buy these incredible pieces. lol
I hope this craft survived for another 100 years

Prices are extremely high. No card payment/no online payment.
1 minute in, "yeah I cant afford this"
They’re absolutely stunning, videos like this make me want to become an apprentice, not yours though Ryotaro apologies ;)
Very very nice.
I'm not asking the price. I know is something I could never afford😢
Idk why but as a westerner foreigner it feels a little weird that 洋服, western style clothes, was translated as "normal clothes"
I guess the Western style clothes became the Norm now through all over the world, even in Japan, than the native style.
did you buy one?
I wouldn't mind having a chest like that. It would look good next to my alcohol collection.
I’m trying to inquire about the box. Can you help me.
Did anyone check the price?
anyone inquired about price yet?
Damn you only look like 100 years old in this part 10:10
what is with the subs
First. 🤪

It definitely sounds like some "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" bullshit.

Say your poor without saying your poor.
It’s too weed out people like yourself who would just waste his time. Small shop.
I used to sell my glass art in various gallery shops. The prices there were often in a book, give the code no., get shown the preapproved price.
