Awesome recycle project! Just got approached by a client to repurpose her bed frame into a bench. So naturally I search TH-cam and luckily found yours at the top of my search!
Very nice bench. I had to watch a few times so I completely understood how you made it.I have a Cherry head and foot board up in my rafters and I have been waiting for a project just like this. Thank you for showing. I really enjoy your videos.
Wow l bought a really pretty headboard for 10.00. Really never thought would need all of those tools. I thing there must be an easier way and still be high quality.
Holy Cow! Ive done this before. Ive found solid wood headboards in the garbage and thought. Thats just too nice to go to a landfill. I have like 3 beds in my sisters garage. I made her a bench out of one of them for her.
Thanks, I hope so to, they are fast to build. While I was dropping it off at the store, everyone that came through the door walked up to it and looked at it.....so that's a good sign.
hey this looks great. I'm curious as to how you came upon selling it for that price point. I have some things I'd like to sell but don't know to price them. thanks.
It's a gut feeling more than anything, I price the item, not my labor. I sell for the most I think it can sell for. If that's not enough to make the time worth it, I don't make it.
I have a platform bed that I'd love to make a bench out of.Any ideas & do you think it would be difficult for me.I've never built anything before. Thanks
I'd go about it a similar way as I did, just use pocket hole screws, it's simple. You can get the jig at Lowes or Home Depot or the internet. As for difficulty, I have no idea. It depends how handy you are. One person can build about anything where the next can't build a thing, regardless of experience.
Just to add extra interest and curiosity. It just kind of goes with the style of it not being perfect. One person might not like it while the next loves it.
That's cool. Lovely bench, by the way, you did a fine job on it! I've been thinking of doing one of these for a while now & you've provided a fine inspiration! Cheers!
I am curious to know, has it sold yet? If so, did it sell for your original posted price? I am building benches out of 2x material for a local craft fair. My wife says to price for at least $150, my original trout was $100. I guess I am afraid of overvaluing my benches, lol.
Sorry to see this antique rope bed in particular be used for this project, but your job distressing looked great. If milk paint used no sanding would have been required. Thanks for sharing.
I've got about 15 of them, they are a weird size bed that is not standard to mattress, they where on the way to the trash. With milk paint you still have to sand it back if you want this level of distressing, each one will be different so the finish depends on the condition of the bed. The worst will be painted and heavily distressed.
Did you watch the video, they are all there. I use the tools I have available, if you want to make something similar, just use what you have that will do the desired task.
I suggest starting with hand tools. Then some power tools afterward. Drill, miter saw, circular saw, etc. I suggest starting small and adding tools as you need them. Watch some videos on youtube about basic tools, getting started, etc.
Yes, it is retail......but I hesitate to get specific on the split. It's part of a deal between me and the store and some people watching know me and where I sell. Out of respect to the store owners I don't like to get specific. But in general, I am getting the majority of the money. They get a set percentage of the sale price and a set price for each bed I get from them after the bench sells. That way there is no upfront cost and if I use a bed in the future that I get from another source the cost of the bed is not factored into the percentage.
Building one right now for a customer. Nice work
THANK YOU...just picked up a thrown out/almost new, really cute little girl's head and footboard, so Ill be making 2 benches!!
It is amazing what folks can barely give away and then end up buying later down the road in some other form or another. Thanks.

that is beautiful, such a great way of re-cycling something rather than sending it for landfill
Thanks, glad you liked it.
Hello, Thanks for your speedy response. The bench looks great. Cheers.

Ok here's a deal. I'll come and cook and clean, and you'll teach me how to do what u do!!! Just a genius!

Thanks for watching
Very good reuse/repurpose project. I like it.
Awesome build. I have a headboard in my basement. It would make better use as a bench than a dust collector. Thanks!!
I think they make good front porch benches, so maybe that's an option for you.
Quiet, easy to control with remote.
Very good reuse/re-purpose project. I like it...
Pretty cool project I will be looking at bed frames way different thanks
Its beautiful.

Nice job . Love upcycling projects.

Looks good man! Good luck with the sales! Hopefully it's another win for you like your tables are.
Thanks, I hope so to, they are fast to build. While I was dropping it off at the store, everyone that came through the door walked up to it and looked at it.....so that's a good sign.

Great job! Hope you get what you're asking!
Thanks
Omg ... love it
That is a nice use of repurposed material. Thanks for the idea. I will try it on Pine Meadows Hobby Farm. Did you ever finish that tiny house?
Good distress job!
Thanks
Beautiful! Great job!
Wowe. Now that's complicated, and all those tools! lol I thought it would be like just some screws a saw and a drill. 😯
It can be that simple, but since I have the tools....I use them. Thanks
If I were buying I'd buy yours. :). But I felt so disappointed that your way is out of my reach. :(. No tools. You did a real professional job.
You could simplify it easily. You could do it all with hand tools or do all screws.
Nice project!
Thanks

That was a very old bed frame. The knobs were for the rope that held the bedding.
Awesome!
Good job
Great looking project. How does the hf nailer work out for you? I've been thinking of getting one. Can't beat the price...
Works great for me.
Love it, great stuff...
Thank you

The Homestead Craftsman Thanks so much.Iwill take your advice,I am determined to get it done.I'll let you know how it turned out. lol
I'm curious as to why you didn't plug the knob holes on the foot-board?
Just to add extra interest and curiosity. It just kind of goes with the style of it not being perfect. One person might not like it while the next loves it.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Feel free to share the link.
That was an interesting speed square @2:12. What is it called?
It's a Shinwa Japanese combination square, very handy.
The Homestead Craftsman It looks really useful. Cool thanks.

It's always easier to lower your price later than it is to raise it.
American-Outdoors.net Exactly what my wife said, so it must be good advice! :)

how many coats of poly did u put on? just curious
One on painted furniture, 2-3 on bare wood.
Wow
really beautiful! I would miss arm rests though.
I’m going to say this in a good way but you are the modern day Norm Abram
what kind of tools used in this project thank you
Did you watch the video, they are all there. I use the tools I have available, if you want to make something similar, just use what you have that will do the desired task.
I do not have any tools so i was asking what kind would be the bast.
I suggest starting with hand tools. Then some power tools afterward. Drill, miter saw, circular saw, etc. I suggest starting small and adding tools as you need them. Watch some videos on youtube about basic tools, getting started, etc.
Any thing happening with your tiny house build?
Yes
$495, is that retail price? What are you seeing out of it?
Yes, it is retail......but I hesitate to get specific on the split. It's part of a deal between me and the store and some people watching know me and where I sell. hey a woodworking video!
Why di you use Bin Kilz primer?
It was white and I had it, it also sticks good.
Enjoyed the video and your presentation style...that distressed shabby chic finish just doesn't appeal to me
It's not my style either, but it's not going in my house. It sells good.
👍👏👏👏❤
Woodglut plans are amazing!
$495! Casi un huevo
