    This video was very helpful! I just picked up my Pacifica from the mechanic on Thursday and it would not start on Friday. I called them and the were very rude saying I probably left a light on and ran the battery down. I called out my service to get a jump but i knew it was not the battery because all the lights came on. Such a rude situation I’m glad i saw your video.

    Ok. I have my fingers crossed. I just put the 4ga ground. I have cranked the Pacifica 22 times without fail. I just checked with one of my mechanics who I trust and of course I told him it needed a starter. He told me 700 plus. 5 hours labor. And over 300 for the Chrysler starter. And he was going on what I told him it needed. That’s crazy. Lol. So I did my homework and found you and your fix. So far so good. As I said 22 times it started with out fail. Now my wife is back in the car. 😊. But if it fails on her I am sending her to you. 😳. You keep your fingers crossed. Lol

    This video was so helpful! My Pacifica was down for 3 weeks. No one could figure out what was wrong. I had to towed back and forth even got a new car! Watched this video yesterday went and got the ground wire and by last night my Pacifica was running! I wasted alot of money over the last 3 weeks :-( when it only cost me $9 to fix!

    Thank-you Thank-you AND Thank-you. Adding another ground wire worked for me. It worked. Thanks. I got a $3 battery ground wire from wrecker and problem fixed. Run ground from neg terminal to engine area and all OK. Amazing....the car started. Fixed just as you said. Thanks again. Wish I saw this video before I lost and day and cost of replacing a starter motor and relay that did not fix the problem. Your fix worked. You made the world a better place for me.

    • @venus5734
      @venus5734 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chimere Richard not sure of the name of it. But no he purchased the wire ends separate. He bought all of it at lowes for less than $10. Also turned out the wire that was broken was under the drivers side front tire. This hack worked but suggest you ground it to the engine. You will get a better result, when added to my tranny it stopped working after a week.

    Thanks for sharing!
    The immobilizer and anti-theft systems can be a real pain in the butt.
    I had the same problem but with the alarm-set lamp flashing.
    Everything worked in the car, lights, dash, ventilation, ac, doors, fuel pump, you name it.
    I did find the problem.
    Solution:
    Disconnect the negative on the battery. Leave it over night if you have a after-market alarm. (this will reset it).
    Next day, I took off the panels under the drivers-side and steering column and found a seimens module with a sensor in it.
    The sensor points to the ignition and needs to have a coded-key or door key for some versions.
    If
    you don't have this module, mount an extra door key
    (originally-chipped) behind the ignition module or close to the ignition
    switch and it should work!
    Hope this helps!

    Had issue with 07 Pacifica Touring not starting when key fully turned. It was sporadic and seemed worse when it was hot out. Saw many possible solutions and tried them all. Cleaned battery terminals, cleaned cable at starter and re-attached, installed an additional ground cable to battery using 8 gauge wire then connected to frame, sprayed half a can of WD40 into ignition switch, still nothing. Checked starter relay contact points and voltage, tried another relay and a jumper, all were good. Kicked the car a couple of times, still didn't work. Removed the ignition tumbler and cleaned it as best as possible. Eventually I removed the ignition assembly and checked the "IGNITION SWITCH ACTUATOR PIN" BINGO!!!! The actuator pin has two metal arms that extend on either side of the white plastic pin. With time, the metal will fatigue and crack. Because it cracks, it stays in place and will allow the key to work sometimes and not work others. By wiggling the key as you turn it will allow the car to start, but eventually with time, the arm will separate and the key will eventually become harder and harder to start. This might not be the answer to your problem, but its a good place to start. The part was only $26.45 at Amazon.com (Dorman 924-739 Ignition Switch Actuator Pin) and I found a video on youtube on how to remove the ignition tumbler. It is only a few extra steps to remove the actuator pin and any shade tree mechanic should be able to do in about an hour with tools you'll find in any tool box.

    Basically all you need to do is add a ground wire from the negative battery terminal to the engine. 8gauge is ok but a 4gauge wire would be best.
    It simply needs to go from the negative battery terminal to solid bolt on the engine or transmission.

I basically have a delayed start where I hold key in start for about 10 seconds and it decides to start. first thing in the morning it has no problem starting right up, just throughout the day it does the delay start. I have a new starter in too.

    Very curious before you replaced the actuator did the car make a clicking sound and the dash lights flicker when the key was turned to the start position? This may be a good indication if the actuator is broken or not. My bet is no clicking sound and no fliker in the dash board lights were a symptom of this cars inability to start when the key was turned. LET US KNOW!

      You can purchase a ground wire from just about any automotive store. If you want to go the extra mile, stop at any car audio shop and ask them to make you a 3 foot ground with lugs at both ends.
      OR you can buy a ground strap at any automotive store, Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc... This will prob be your best bet.

    So I'm seeing all these comments and kinda seen one or two that relate to my problem. Been having trouble where it wouldn't start with a one click sound. Then it'd start after a few tries. Then started to get worse and take longer to get it to turn over. Now it won't start and has one click when trying. The starter was replaced about a year ago. It has a good battery. I would like to try this since it's an easy and quick fix but does my problem sound like this may be the resolution? I don't want to go take this car to a mechanic and get charged hundreds of dollars to replace parts that don't need to be replaced as well as labor. If you can, please reply asap. Thanks bud

    The issue we're having is that the blower motor works when it wants to. Started out not working every once in awhile and then it got to the point it wouldn't come on for weeks at a time. The starter works fine, it's the blower motor that has a mind of it's own. I'm hoping it's this ground issue and not something more complicated like bad brushes in the blower motor or something else!

Someone before me added a 4 gauge ground wire to the negative battery post that I didn't realize at first, maybe for this very problem. I need to trace the other end of it to see where it's attached, it might just be loose or corroded.

    Mine is doing exactly this after dying on me driving down the road. I did try many things, even this, and it's still doing the same thing. It just clicks when I turn the key. My brother said I had done all I could and told me to tow it in and gave a pro look at it. Without asking me anything about it or what I had done,they called and told me the passenger floor was wet and the radiator was empty so I OBVIOUSLY need my Head Gasket rebuilt for 1600 dollars (Yes, it stormed and the window was down and the radiator is empty because I pulled the hose to remove it and the fan to put in a new starter and intake manifold gasket.) The thing is my Pacifica has not started since the 20th of December 2018. If the radiator had leaked like that it would have dried up by now, and I cannot get this guy to listen until I flat said I'm not paying 1600 for this unless he GUARANTEES that will fix the vehicle and it will for certain start. He won't do that though and said there could be something else too. I can say that the codes 1564 and 0700 0708 came up and a certified mechanic told me it was a connection near the TCM and likely a wiring harness.

      @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can attach to any point on the engine itself. The common problem is that the main engine ground either breaks due to engine movement, or corrodes to the point of being unable to pass electrons

    I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica that went out on me on the freeway after accelerating. It's doing the same exact thing as this video accept it says service immobilizer but I had a locksmith come out and test the key and he said it wasn't the key what can my issue be?

    • @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076
      @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ebg323 if it is the immobilizer, transponder, the SKIM module may be going bad. Happens more than you might think in the older Chrysler vehicles. Another thing that happens is the Canbus wires going to the ECU, don’t remember what Chrysler calls it, corrode out so the SKIM and ECU can’t communicate any longer.

    I got in car to start it and the ignition switch just glided to on. No clicks at acc etc. Lights work radio works . When car door is open it dings like the key is in ignition but it is not. Also when i press lock from Key fob the little red security light that blinks does not blink. It was perfectly fine before this happened

    • @OldCorpsEd
      @OldCorpsEd 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe same problem: won't crank but all idiot lights come on. In off position and with key removed, radio works, fan blows, window controls work - all electrical power like engine was on or in acc. position, and remote door locks don't work. ?????

    • @msmilby199
      @msmilby199 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is 2 YEARS LATER, but, this 8s what I found and maybe it will help someone else. Lift up your back hatch. Under the carpeted pad you have the tire support, jack, etc in a little well area. Remove the cover there and look to your left. There us a little cutout there where you will see a DVD player. It is where your Navigation system is. Check that harness for damage or moisture. Mine was moisture damaged and caused a myriad of electrical problems before knocking out my PCM. It had caused a short that would sometimes affect the seats, the blower on the heat and a/c, the security system alarm going off at random times,the remote not working to trigger the alarm system,or the battery being run WAY down or COMPLETELY DEAD for no obvious reason. Anyway, I had just changed the alternator, because it went out. All was ok for about a week then all the symptoms came back. I had the alternator checked because I thought I had been given a rebuilt instead of new. It was fine. The other day I was approaching a stop light and my Pacifica just died. I was going about 45mph and did all I could and got it into a parking lot. It was raining and had been for 3 days (moisture build up) and that was I guess what burned the PCM was a short from that navigation system. So, I am going to order that PCM (sadly putting a dent in Christmas for my children ) but, I must have a vehicle because my son has Downs and some health probs. So this MUST be fixed. I will post if I gather any further info as I am having to do this myself. I am NOT a mechanic, but I am mechanically inclined and understand how basic systems work. I am hoping that someone out there can maybe solve their problem too if you have similar issues. Wish me luck and to those who need it I wish you well in solving your issue with your Pacifica.

    • @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076
      @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patrice Whitiker the air only blowing on the floor is most likely the blend door, very common Chrysler problem. However, if the digital display is out, it may be related to a bad A/C control unit.

    • @patricewhitiker2646

      Dealer Specialty Services of PA OK. So what you think could be why my car start band run but just cuts off without notice and my seats not working u think its the ground wire or sensor

    • @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076
      @dealerspecialtyservicesofp1076  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Patrice Whitiker seats not working wouldn’t be related unless they don’t only when the car is shutting down. Otherwise the seats aren’t related to the shut down. The motors and switches go on those often. The shut down, if there is no check engine codes could be related to the ground. If you have a bad ground, the circuit is not complete and then the car loses all power and shuts down. I should also mention that the Pacifica had a recall for the ignition switch if I recall correctly

      Sounds exactly like what I describe in the video. The starter motor has no ground in which to activate properly. Add a ground between the battery and a bolt on the engine or transmission. Make sure it's at least 4 gauge wire and the connection is solid.

      Check navigation system in the back under the carpet where the jack us. See if your DVD player back there us running when the key is off. It gets moisture in it and shorts out and will screw up EVERY electrical thing in there. The seats, the blowers,the dash lights, your CD/stereo/DVD system. All kinds of little things. It will drive you crazy trying to figure it out,but I found mine by not giving up til I did. Put a fan back there and dry it out OR weather permitting, just open your back hatch and take that carpet piece up and let it air dry. Mine hot damp again because I didn't know how to stop the moisture back there. It rained 3 days here and it ended up shorting and blowing the PCM. I hope you can fix hours before it gets to that.

      More than likely if you get nothing with the key, your skim module has gone bad. This is module that retains the memory of the chip inside your key. If the vehicle doesn't see the chip, it will not turn on the fuel pump and thus will not start. If you have no power, you could have a broken ignition switch, or blown main fuse.
