    People don't consider boxing a martial art but the way BHop breaks it down makes it look just like that. The dude is a grandmaster.

      Halfway1023 who are those people? it’s the sweet science, ppl definitely consider it a martial art. It is, especially off of the pure definition of it. Lol 🤷‍♂️

      British American boxing isn't Chinese Martial Arts or karate. But boxing and its cousin kickboxing ARE MARTIAL ARTS. Look at the programming-- both fall under sports and fitness.

      Boxing skill is more valuable in a real life fight or in any combat sport because its been practiced & perfected for hundreds of years. you cant tell me a prime mike tyson didn't have a good chance at beating anyone ever in a fight no matter what style of hand to hand combat they used

    Once it becomes a natural reaction it can hurt u as well u want to learn how to control and gauge at times countering can be a risk sometimes u just have to catch the shot knowing when to shoot after the catch is key don't get the idea that "oh everytime I catch I gotta shoot" like its a rule or something pick your shots always remember that

    I thought using an opponent's *momentum* against them...was grabbing their movement and speed. But blocking the opponents jab nullifies that movement and speed, right? So countering with your own hit afterwards, by using the force of your own movement, originates from something else *other than* the opponent's momentum (it originates from you)...correct?
    No wait I got it. The opponent is putting in his/her own force but they're setting themselves up for a hook anyway. Even though their jab is being blocked, they've set themselves up, and that's their motion/momentum being used against them...right?

    • @paintunderpressure
      @paintunderpressure 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok. But I wasn't trying to be, I was trying to ask what the correct technical words were without sounding too much like a dick.

    • @SPRINGS02
      @SPRINGS02 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wasn't, gotta give kovalev props, didn't expect him school hopkins like that. Although, you gotta give hopkins props for going 12 rounds with kovalev at 50. Most people hadn't even went the distance with him. One of the craftiest smartest fighters ever.

    • @saintcruzin3190
      @saintcruzin3190 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      SPRINGS02 I thought B-Hop should have been 4 to 1 underdog and bet good money on Kovalev. Outboxing Hopkins was unexpected though. Props to them both...50 is crazy to be a top fighter...

    • @AdonaiZedek
      @AdonaiZedek 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      saintcruzin Hopkins uses ring experience to lul fighters into his game which is a slower pace and to keep them thinking and reacting instead of being proactive. If you can stay busy while being smart then you have a better chance of beating him. Prime B-Hop and Kovalev goes down differently.

    • @saintcruzin
      @saintcruzin 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adonai Zedek A prime B-Hop is a totally different fight with Kovalev. Hopkins is just plain amazing to just be fighting the best at 50....amazing. These other fighters that have abused their bodies can't comeback....Oscar to you hear me???

    • @AdonaiZedek
      @AdonaiZedek 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oscar still has the ability to beat alot of fighters with a couple tune ups and a years worth of work. He thinks GGG would be a walk in the park until he receives one of those body shots and get walked thru..like wet tissue paper

    and from 07;14 till the end of the vid ??? please help :)

    • @PrecisionBoxing
      @PrecisionBoxing 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      from 4:57 - 5:07 he is saying to use that lead arm as a shield, keep it at 90 degrees to block and at the same time sneak in punches. He is saying that the opponent might throw a lot of punches while he is in this position and the crowd will go wild thinking that the opponent is landing, meanwhile in that position it's Hopkins who is blocking and sneaking in punches.
      at 7:14 he is saying that a good fighter has to constantly find ways to make progress, they must have a plan B or plan C. that a lot of good fighters can get stuck in their ways, or can't figure out how to beat an opponent if they don't know what to adjust to. In other words if a fighter doesn't know what to adapt to, or what the solution is to solve an opponent then nothing he do will work. Think of any fighter that wins with a certain style but cannot adapt to a new style if the first way isn't working.
