P280 of the rulebook says that all detachments in an army have to be of the same allegiance (i.e. Loyalist or Traitor). Additionally, P281 says that that an allied detachment must be a different faction to the primary detachment - meaning you can't ally the same legion together in one army. I think that's 40k thinking bleeding in to your army construction, sadly.

So cool. I'm glad to see people building "historically" accurate armies for specific events like Istavaan. I'm building a Siege of Terra Night Lords army which is very chaos touched, inspired by the Night Lords trilogy and the Painted Count story line.
I had no issues with my palatine blades ....and if ive had any issues with fw resin it was easy to rectify ....for everything except the mastodon .... My fw resin warlord and fellblade variants were spot on and i rarely had any issues to the point that i have to contact fw and when i did i usually got replacements and was able to keep the ruined models to use as scenery,have so much FW resin models and just love the sharp details , plus in ten years time people will have all plastic armies and ill have examples of FW history in my collection...whole generations of people who may never know that the models were ever resin ...genuine discontinued examples.
My new army is going to be Raven Guard Liberatio force with the Therion Cohort, i love playing guard in 40k and i think that the Raven Guard are a really cool underapreciated legion.

The 200 Phoenix Guard were all killed when Fulgrim fought the Avatar of Khaine allowing him to reestablish it with those of his choosing. Phoenix Terminators are a minority within the phoenix guard, likely only a few dozen at most. If there were any loyalist amongst them they'd be a rarity.
Perhaps this band of loyalists "re-founded" the Phoenix Guard from among their own members? Who knows? The Legions were huge, and Forge World has always encouraged customization and flexibility in this regard.

They where brought here after the renegade time lord the Master defeated the last daemon Guiliman stopping the daemon primarch from releasing of the terrible ancient Terran movie _Ultaviolet_ in the past thereby altering the timeline so that when that other chaos storm that threw the primarchs all over our galaxy like pies in a food fight tossed their heroic fallen version of Fulgrim into our universe so to follow they had to build a version of the Infinity Gauntlet to take them to her, but because some of the gems no longer existed and they couldn't identify one of the elements they just replaced that one with 'tar' and gave it a go with disastrous results landing them in an alternate past on Istvaan in the middle of war. It's all in the lore if you look deep enough. 😉

Looking absolutely baller my dude! I 100% prefer heresy to 40k as a game system, it just makes more sense and the ability to make every list feel unique is so cool. The rites of war really let you make unique armies to bring to the tabletop and even multiple people playing the same legion or even same rite of war, can have drastically different armies and it becomes a joy a play. Just started up my blood angels and I know how you feel about the drip feed. I had to 3d print a bunch of jump packs, chainswords and bolt pistols for my assault squads. Have you considered AoS? A much more melee focused game with absolutely beautiful models, I swear all the best designers are on AoS. I say it's got a better ruleset than 40k and lacks the over complication of 40k.
"Welcome to late-2021", as far as the 'GW not supporting HH" rant is concerned. If you're all about 30k, then you're going to need to be all about 3D printing, in order to play with all the cool, uniquely-equipped units that you're going to want to run. I suspect that GW maybe doing this purposely, so that in 2030, they can be all like "We created this environment, and now you will pay a stupid amount of money for the official STLs to the models that we've had out of stock for the last X amount of years! MWAHAHAHHAHAHAH!...pssst, hey Cavil, we're depending on you to keep us afloat!" lol
GW… If you have trouble keeping stuff in production and have limited space how about you make the smaller models stl files and sell them online while still keeping keeping up the transition of larger modes to plastic? Have all of the weapons torso upgrades and other accessories online as printable files and maybe even printing and ship them to people who don’t own printers. Each legion has their own section with legion specific weapons and upgrades they can choose from and order as many as they want of each. Also stop making crappy card games and invest in *more* AAA games like Space Marine, a Battlefields style 30k game with a campaign following the events of the first 3 books and multiplayer would be amazing.
Lol my full army is 3d printed. Better in every single way, cheaper, better quality, more individuality, more bits, other armour marks in new scale. £200 printer and £100 of resin and you can get £1000+ of Heresy stuff printed when you think about how expensive upgrade kits are. GW priced me out 3 price rises ago
My IW & SoH are mostly 3d printed, cheaper yes but I dunno if id call it better in every way, the forge world resin models are higher quality than anything I've had 3d printed
Yeah the only thing I don’t like about it is the effort and learning to use a printer (also smell and space Is a personal problem for me) so I think not everybody is able to get one
