New Experience on how to make Iban Traditional Costume 'rawai'.
In Dayak's community especially in Sarawak the traditional dress for the Iban is called Ngepan Indu.
'Ngepan Indu' is Iban's Female traditional Costume.'Ngepan has its distinctive characteristics namely a Rawai. Rawai is a corset made from silver or rattan and shaped into a circular shape according to the cut of the woman's hips. It is then decorated with coins. Ngepan is combined with other accessories. Rawai is one of the accessories.
Rawai is to be worn together with other attires or accessories such as ' Sugi Tinggi', tango, keban cloth, silver necklace and silver arm bracelet.
It is a traditional attire worn by Iban lady during festivals , celebrations or during special occasion such as Gawai Day, ceremonies, marriage and ritual dances.
Rawai selalu dipakai oleh perempuan Iban. Rawai diperbuat daripada logam dan dipakai pada pinggang.Rawai sering dipakai bersama pakaian tradisi kaum Iban.
