Ellie my advice with Saint, is not to rush the process of anything, He may back track when baby boy comes along if you try to rush any progression , He needs to be as much the centre of your world as baby boy will be , you will know what I mean when baby boy comes , DONT RUSH HIM 💙

Such a good point! Very nice for pointing this out to Elle 💙 sometimes when toddlers learn new things they may regress on other things they previously knew or with big changes, that’s so true

Honestly ellie and Connor I wouldn't do any of said transitions before new baby, the biggest reason and this is only from experience is Saint will need a little more comfort when baby 1st comes and dummy etc are his conforts. Also to make such big changes when baby due so soon you don't want him to rebel by feeling you are taking comforts away. A top tip for when you do take dummy is to snip ends slightly with scissors, ( he will not like the feel and discard dummy) and this then makes it their choice to not want one x hope that makes sense x

My advice of having 2 children under 2 is there is absolutely no rush in anything.
My first born I felt the more pressure I put on him having to go in a bed, drink out of a cup etc the longer I put it off 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
1 step at a time with things and don’t feel you need to have everything sorted before baby boy arrives.
My 1st born is now in a bed, with guards (from Argos), drinks out of a cup (one with a straw) all at the age of 2.
It will all happen naturally and in yours and saints time.
Congratulations to you all!! Welcome to mum life of 2 ❤️

Bed guard is the best option! I put my boy in big boy bed when he was 3. On his birthday and used it as a birthday present and he felt like he was a big boy! He transitioned so well. Can’t remember the age he came off milk bottles, but it sorted happened naturally he just didn’t want it anymore. And loved his water and squash. When it feels right it’ll happen easily x

I have roughly the same age gap with my two girls as you will have, my only advice, wait until they show signs of being ready! My eldest had a dummy for everything but I noticed at some point instead of sucking it she just chewed it, this obviously caused concern so I decided at that point to remove it. Went cold turkey one night and just took it, she had a meltdown that one night and I told her it was now gone, she never asked for it again. I took that as validation she was actually ready. Same thing with sleeping, I co slept and then she went straight to a single bed (she had a Montessori floor bed so I didn’t need a bed guard) I did this when she went from sleeping all the way through the night to having a really broken sleep, tossing and turning and kicking us a lot in bed. I thought one night she just must need more space, so we tried her in her own bed… sure enough, she was ready! It’s a big adjustment having a new baby in the home, do things at yours and Saints own pace and I’m sure the transition will be smooth❤

  • @chloemcdermott8247

May be worth considering for baby no2 to wean away from dummy around 6 months, as this is where the reliance starts to form and makes it harder to transition away later.
It allows the baby to learn how to self soothe before the become reliant on the dummy which is a good thing to learn.
We had to do this by accident as our daughter needed a cleft repair and wouldn't be allowed a dummy after surgery so didn't want her to be relying on it and asking for it after surgery but it went so well we plan to do it with no2.

What a beautiful boy Saint is and his speech is really coming on. I wouldn’t rush any of the transitions - just take your time. With regards dummies - my daughter was obsessed with hers and we told her the dummy fairy was coming to get hers and she would leave her a gift for them. She was little upset a day or so then was fine. Bed wise you can get ones with guards - I would have a good look around online and read reviews etc.
You are both doing a great job of parenting, you have a happy content little one.

Mum to an almost two years old and I plan on keeping him in the crib with a sack until around 3. I personally don’t want a toddler that can get out of his bed at night while I have a young babe so we’re going to wait. He sleeps so well in his crib with his sack I’ll worry about it when the next babe starts sleeping through the night. As for dummy’s my son sucks his thumb which will be a challenge too so I have no advice there. So excited to watch all the pregnancy baby content 💕 I had my baby a few months before you and now we’ve switched with these babes ✨

My two-cent advice is to keep Saint in a crib until he's at least 2 yrs old. You might find Saint a little jealous that the new baby will be in a crib and he's not. Putting Saint in a bed at a young age might prove to be a little difficult "keeping" him in the crib when he doesn't want to sleep, but you know he needs it. I wish you the best - use your intuition and do what you think is best. If you think it's right for your family, you won't go wrong. Best of luck!

There's 19 months between my 2 boys and it's honestly the best thing ever.
On the dummy front. It was a concern for me for a while and my dentist who is great, he explained not to worry about it till he was 4. Open bites if they have one reverts back. He said not to worry. My oldest slept in a sleeping bag till over 2, didn't go into a toddler bed till over 2 and a half (despite my friend kids transitioning earlier) and he only just gave his dummies to santa when we were at centre parcs this Christmas gone and my oldest is 4 in Feb. He'd have it for bedtime and I really thought it would be awful, but in the month leading up to centre parcs end of November I paid for a really authentic looking santa do a video for him to say he was excited to see him and give him the dunny for Santa's baby reindeer etc and we ordered a book with a simular story line that we read, and showered home with encouragement prezzies after he gave them away. He asked for it that night, but didn't fuss too much and was fine ever since. Id definitely say don't put pressure on it, don't compare to others, everyone's circumstances are different. And ultimately its so much comfort for them, you don't see any 10 year olds with a dummy I think. Also having a new baby, he mught resent the baby abit seeing them with a dunny and he isn't allowed one. I'd aim for the Christmas after he turns 3 and maybe stick to dummy just at sleep time x

Hi Elle! Just to add my two peneth in too! My 3 year old niece has hugely regressed since her brother was born, and it is apparently completely normal, even though her baby talking drives me insane because she was such a better talker before he was born. Also I was terrified she was going to not like him because she is always the centre of attention but she is absolutely OBSESSED with him and couldn’t possibly love him anymore. Good luck, I’m sure everything will work out amazingly! ❤

I saw a video from a TH-camr called Our Tiny Tribe (Ebony Day) and she had her kids place their dummies out for the 'Dummy fairy" to take them. She told them that they had grown up and no longer needed them and that the 'Dummy fairy' would come in the night to take them. I don't think her kiddos have asked for their dummy since! Maybe its worth giving it a go once Saint is a little older. I love your videos by the way, especially the Primark shopping trips 🥰

My little girl has just stopped having her dummy at night and she just turned three and we just had a little chat about it and she happily gave it up no issues! We tried earlier and it was nowhere near as easy. I wouldn’t worry about getting him out of a sleeping bag any time soon either because they can’t really keep a duvet on them until I’d say definitely past two but more like 2.5 years really! I think we used a toddler bed from 2 but still a sleeping bag for a little while. Basically just don’t rush it you will know when he’s ready! We did bottle at night until nearly two and again zero issues stopping that as well! I was quite sad to give that one up though tbh 😂 xx

My first born was addicted to his dummy oh my gosh. By 16 months I did it cold turkey I told him to leave it at the door and say bye bye and Batman ( his favourite back then ) was going to leave him a gift when he woke up from his nap. He was so excited and ran to the door and found a new Batman teddy to sleep with instead of the dummy, we did have our random moments of crying but a hug and reminder of Batman teddy sure helped. I would aim to do one thing straight away so the dummy then when he is settled transition the bed after the holiday. Don’t do it all at once it may be quite challenging, but then again we stress about the outcome and sometimes their just so brave and it goes so well!

Ellie don't rush the transitioning period with Saint ... having two babies in their cots is in many ways easier for the first few months of New baby arriving . Dummy too ,Saints still very much a baby ( I know it’s easy to see him as big brother) however as you know the baby baby period doesn’t last long . Like you I had three babies very close together , and you’ll know when Saints ready to make these changes . From one Mummy to another just relax and enjoy your time with Saint . Take time and simply enjoy now , and believe me all will fall into place 💐😘🥰

I never comment on anything really, but I want to share my experiences. I have two boys aged 3,5 and 1,5. I didn't rush my oldest on quitting pacifiers, cribs etc before my youngest came. As I've read in the comments, I just let it happen over time, and didn't want to change too much for him too quickly (i.e. sharing mom and dad). He slept in a crib until he was 3. It felt safe for him and he was still a little too young in my opinion to get a bigger bed. It became a cool thing to transition over to a big boy bed when he understood it better. As for pacifiers, he stopped at around 2,5. I explained it to him one night and he didn't cry or anything. Maybe it helped that I had been giving it to him less over time. It was only when he slept that he used it, or when he was upset. So, for us, slowly making transitions when it felt natural was the right way to go. My youngest still have his milk bottles, but now he only has one at night and it doesn't seem like he notices that anything is different. ☺ You'll know when it feels right. I have no doubts that it'll go smoothly when the time comes. He seems like he's literally a little saint- so adorable! Lots of love from this boy mum in Norway ❣

Then hang them outside while letting saint know all the time what is happening, Then the next morning bring saint outside to where the dummies were hung with a written handnote and a present for him. Don’t move him to toddler bed! Biggest mistake of my life was moving my 18 month old so we could use crib for new baby. It’s been a year of older child not sleeping, and she was an amazing sleeper in the crib. My younger baby will be in crib still when she goes to college lol

I agree with quitting the pacifier but as far as transitioning to a toddler bed, don’t rush. Unless you NEED the crib for new baby boy leave Saint in the crib. I know some kids that enjoy their crib until 3-4 years old and there’s nothing wrong with that. I also know many moms that transitioned their little ones and they ended up having a sleep regression after sleeping perfectly in their own beds to now sleeping in their parents bed every night.

You should check out Umbrella Academy! It's not on right not but there's like 4 seasons on Netflix, I binged it all when I had covid last year and I loved it

With your vehicle, make sure you can fit comfortably in between both car seats! You'll probably be sitting back there more than you think 😅

I wouldn’t recommend rushing into cutting his dummy, bottles, big bed etc. He is going to go through a very big change when baby arrives and will have to share you. So a dummy will be a comfort for him and all these big changes will be too much for him before baby arrives, I would aim for age 2.
