    I think one discrepancy is requesting a transfer PIN number from original company before you transfer

      @@TechandDesign so if I have like for example they are both at&t phones and contacted the at&t company and we took the number off the family plan but they didn't know what else to do like port it over if we need to port the number we'd have to go into an actual at&t store to get that fixed right? Like we called and they didn't seem to understand that we what we were trying to do.

    Wait. Instead of swapping sim cards back n 4th cant u just keep old sim in old phone & new sim in new phone & reply to text from old phone cause service not cancelled yet? Why swap SC back n 4th? Thx

    • @TechandDesign
      @TechandDesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      sim card is what makes your phone work as a phone that's why

    • @chris73brown
      @chris73brown ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TechandDesign Right. Keep new sc in new phone & old sc in old phone. Both new & old phone have sc & old provider not cancelled yet so both phones work at same time. Simply do the verification text w old phone & use new phone to contact new provider to request the port over. No need to swap both new & old sc back n 4th in new phone. Just work in 'phone to phone' fashion. All u really need to do is contact new provider w old providers account info while old providers service is still connected & request them to port your old number to new phone & theyll send the verification text to old phone & u can reply yes from it & then your old number is transferred to new phone. My point is just that its easier to do it phone to phone rather than switching out new & old sc back n 4th to new phone

      @@chris73brown At some time the service is cancelled though.. but ya, you can keep using it till it just "No service" or something to that affair. I agree, the sim swaps are not needed, but if you only have one phone to do it on.. just leave the old card because usually when you activate you must enter the SIM number printed on the new card... You can't do that if its in the phone, and you've thrown out the packaging,

    Help at&t is keeping us in a loop and will not release our numbers. They keep us on hold and transfer us to different reps who give a sales pitch. They also “accidentally” hang up on us 😢 we have put in the request and already paid up the account and received confirmation but when we try to import with new carrier they say att will not release your numbers! Any advice greatly appreciated.

    So, I did the port over in the sequence you described:
    (i) insert the new PM SIM card just bought into the same phone I have (after having removed the old Rogers SIM card) in order to activate the the new SIM card;
    (ii) then, removed the new SIM card, re-installed the old Rogers;
    (iii) Rogers sent a text msg confirming if I really want to transfer: Yes
    (iv) removed old SIM, replaced with new PM SIM;
    (v) call and text msg tests with someone, works;
    (vi) check Settings - Phone, it does show the new service provider PM;
    (vii) however, SIM card shows the old Rogers SIM number??
    (viii) Recycle phone power, restarted, still the same old SIM number?
    Note that today is the last day of Rogers service, will expire in an hour or so (that why you said do not cancel the current Provider just yet, as they need to be involved in the port over process), perhaps I check past midnight to see if the new PM SIM number will show?
    A reason for this question: under Settings, Cellular Network Disconnected? Is it related to this, or something completely different?
    Thanks!

      @@TechandDesign no you don’t understand. I want to keep my current plan and move my number to another plan and then have a new number created for my current plan. Two plans, two lines, two providers. But I want my number switched from one provider to the other provider without cancelling my plan. I don’t know if this is possible or not. I understand that this isn’t a usual request and the reasoning is irrelevant. I just need to know if it can be done.

      if you want to switch your number to the other provider - you need to contact the other (new) provider and tell them you want to port your number over. they will do it for you.

    • @TechandDesign

    I'm sure multiple people have multiple SIM cards from different providers as well, just lying around. Coincidental for a Yuutube video :) YOur instructions are more complex than what others would do..
    Yes, its all convenient doing it on your phone, but you've just demonstrated how tedious it is swapping cards back and fourth..
    Much better to activate from a PC or Mac, while you "keep using your current8 service* Just because you activate it, doesn't means your up and running immediately. There is a time delay..
    Otherwise, scammers would have a field day

    • @TechandDesign
      @TechandDesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      not really "my" instructions. They are the instructions from the provider . Nothing I can personally do or change about it . Also can't activate from a pc or mac

    What if you bought the phone and added 1 line and wanted to port your old phone even though the new phone has a new phone number? I had a number with a family plan and wanted to get out of the family plan and cut it but didn't and just ended up buying a 1 line with the new phone with a new number but still had the family plan old number at the same time. Would I be able to port that old family plan number to the new one and forget about the new number and just worry about the old one settling with it with my new phone.
