    Thanks for keeping it real. It's frustrating seeing all the other booth owners who seemingly have it all together, ALL THE THE TIME. I can't compare with that. Some daus, I feel like quitting.

    Thanks for keeping it real for those of us that have a booth. Sometimes i get so discouraged with my sales eventhough I fluff, new items, and spend alot of time. But eventually sales will pick up and i will feel better again. Sorry you had so many challenges at one time.

    Thank you for sharing this video. I work a full time job and it can be stressful. I enjoy flipping and start a booth. But lately my paying job has taken most of my time and I don’t have the energy to work on projects. I appreciate you sharing your struggles and showing that things are not always perfect. Really enjoy your channel!

    I really needed to see this video today. Thank you so much for putting out an honest video and a realistic one. The last few days I’ve been having the exact problems you had. Every time I started a project and I was on a deadline to finish things for my pop-up booth there was more to the project than I thought there was. I was having panic attacks that I wasn’t going to have things finished to sell. We are only open 3 1/2 days a month so it’s really important for me to have new items. I am a full-time teacher and do this on the side, but it also is a full-time business.

    Really enjoyed this video. So motivating. I struggled recently with a large heavy dresser I got thru an online auction. The top showed wear and damage. I am not experienced and did two rounds of sanding and painting before I realized I should have used a chemical stripper to get the heavy varnish off the top in order to get a smooth finish. I am giving myself that break you talked about and the piece is currently in my basement being used to store some booth merchandise. I'll figure it out later. And it will all be okay no matter what I decide to do with it. One of your suggestions about how to deal with mental burnout is one I use quite a bit. I choose a mindless, tedious task (like pricing very small items like jewelry or stickers) to work on while listening to TH-cam content about vintage/antiques. I absorb info like a sponge while cranking out some smalls for my booth. Thanks for your time in creating these inspirational videos for us.

    • @theturnedleg
      @theturnedleg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are so very welcome. Best of luck with that dresser...whatever you choose to do. Zoning out with small tasks does help you be productive and get your head back on task. Thank you for sharing!

    good sensible dose of reality, girl!!
    Re: leash training. Keep George right next to you. He will feel safe. When the dog is let out on a long leash and they are a couple feet in front of you their instinct is to go into protective mode or to be the leader.
    That is stressful for a small dog and not his job.
    So, try training George on a taute (tight) leash and see if that helps.

    I love what you have said! I have had so many frustrations along the way but has still been worth it. Just had to tell of one of my frustrating furniture refinishes. My Sister and I went to pick up a china cabinet off of marketplace for free. I was so excited to pick up this piece. My sister and I lifted it and she accidentally lost her grip, the piece slid against my wrist and the garage door. I knew it had hurt but was still excited to get the piece. When we were driving home, my sister yelled "look at your wrist"! It was hanging down! I thought let's just get this home and then I will get an xray. When we lifted it out of the truck and turned it around, noticed it was infested with termites. I was so done!!!! I truly understand!

    I've never had a booth, probably never will, however, I do love thrifting and shopping for antiques and other oddities that furnish my home. I think the information you shared here is obviously valuable to other booth owners - but also very important for people that shop antiques but don't have booths. It's important for us to realize how much hard work goes into acquiring and working on the lovely pieces that you fill your booths with. Plaza Antiques is my happy place ❤ Thank you.

    Everybody has a bad day every so often. What I do is just put it away till the next day and try doing something else. The items you mentioned that did not work out. It’s unfortunate but you’re going to come across that when Thrifting and sometimes when we try to Redo items, it won’t work out. We just need to move on to something else. I love what you’ve been doing with your shop and I see many many videos lately, so you are getting out there to the public. That’s the most important thing; advertising is the key to success.

    Just in general I think some get business mixed up with hobby. Business you are paid for your time just like you would at a job. If you work 8 hours on a piece you should figure that in your profit ,so its balanced and right. You most figure in your time in a business model. You should be paid for your time and if you cant then you are investing in wrong items business wise.
