I love how a body kit 240 looks as much as the next guy but dang the e36 seems like a lot more solid car stock for stock. AND you can still find them for cheap! None of this 15k blown ka bs.
At first I thought it was the wide angle lens causing it till he started actually whipping it around. That's definitely a knock off wheel I'd say, they have a horrible record for coming that way or easily bending when you start yanking them around. Some are so cheap that the wheel or hub end up breaking and separating insanely easy.
Just wanted to say thank you for your content. Quality information without the wank factor some of the other drift channels have. I’m now itching to get a BMW and go to town on Smokey Slides. May your tires turn to smoke and may your sideways never end.
Engine wise nothing should break down on ya in you're e36 like a ka or sr. if you don't get a lemon e36 it's gonna last you longer then a freshly built sr
@dwrekk He probaly wen't to a shop that over priced him and he didn't want to deal with it. my 325 1994 E36 saloon was a 2 owner car. only thing the entire car needed was paint. been a year now and i still never fails to make me smile. factory ZF trans in a sedan is hard to find in San Jose ca so i'm very very lucky.
Easiest car to drift doesn't even feel like a 4 door tbh. only preference if you wan't a gutted car on a e36. they don't really need to be gutted for street cars
15:28 trippy angle change. The 240 sounds like it has zero sound deadening, that thing is like a tin can compared to the bmw, in terms of the chassis dampening vibration and noise
Awesome video thanks. Opens my eyes to some issues I have had. I used to have an s13 years ago and I recently bought an e36. I haven't ever been to a proper drift event, but I'm trying to learn. Thanks again.
This video made me feel great for beeing poor and gettin a 323i sedan instead of a s13 for drifting. Didnt driven it yet, but soon. Good starter car for a 15yr i think
It's enjoyable watching you and getting the information and the depth that you go into. Keep bringing the content and ill keep watching thank you for your time bro....
In the s13 go from 3rd to 1st will have better angle, talking hairpins atm and you will still b able to clutch kick, also as soon as u exit the corner u can immediatly upshift to 2 for that extra speed Talkin real touge racing here. First across the finish. . s13 is ment for touge drift racing vs grip or anything
8:39 sounds exactly like 240sx on NFSU2! always said it sound nothing like real, couse then I didn't know that 240sx had different engine than 200sx here where I live we didn't had 2.4...
Sean Smile me too man just ordered them this afternoon. I've been really tempted to buy a $600 set and I'm so glad a waited til I could afford the BCs.
Alright, I wanna see you shredding at spirit peaks in the compact! I've seen videos of it! Lol and I either missed that event or it was a private event haha
Thanks for praising my car Chelsea. I knew my rtabs were dead and i felt shitty about it the whole drive to the track. Glad the car was mostly solid though. Really kicked me in gear to get my car sorted hearing all the good stuff from you. Already setting aside cash for a proper seat and rtabs, as well as some other rear subframe upgrades. If anyone wants to give me a follow on the Instagram to track my progress, feel free. @HotWingDrifter
If you haven't welded subframe reinforcements in yet, do that while you're going over the stuff in the rear. Mine was tearing out of my E36 and I'm lucky I caught it before I did a ton of damage.
M3ntal i already have the reinforcements. Just not installed. South Texas cars dont really rust so theres not a lot of issues in chassis tearing apart.
Good video I got a ka 240 bc coilovers an sold subframe bushings got a daily gs300 looking to get a E36 now I know it slides better then my 40 🤣😂🤣🤷🏾♂️
Awesome vids man. Have you done a video on suspension set up yet? I looked through your channel but didn't find one. Maybe I overlooked it. If not, could you put that on your list of future videos? I just got an FRS and started drifting it last summer but I'm still figuring it out. It's got Hotchkis swaybars front and rear and BC racing BR series coilovers and a welded diff, but it's otherwise stock. I could use some help chasing down a good suspension set-up. So far I just set the coilovers at like 15/30 on damping and max my front camber, but I'm sure it could be better. Anyway, thanks for all the work you do.
It gets too complicated and there are way too many things to incorporate to do videos like that. Bars an BC's will give you a ton of adjustability tho!
Yea, all the adjustability is just a bit overwhelming. Since I'm new I've just tried to leave everything alone and just get a feel for what the car is doing with everything set about mid way. Maybe you could put these things in order for me. What would I adjust first to last. 1) Tire pressures 2) Camber 3) Sway bar holes 4) Toe 5) Damping Thanks again man. Keep being awesome!
i bought a 325i, stripped out, hydro and welded diff, with a M20 flywheel on coilovers for 1200 dollars(about) :) can't wait for the summer ! been testing the car on the streets and it rips :P
The S13 drives bad because, as he mentioned in part 1, it has stock traction arms. If you add toe arms and camber arms, but leave the traction arms stock (or at stock length), then it will toe out as it squats which gives you no forward bite. It probably would have driven better if it had stock arms driving on the insides of the tires only (Gains camber when its lowered, but maintains the stock toe curve), then having camber/toe arms and stock traction arms (zero camber, but wonky toe cuve) with full a full contact patch and toe out.
for those of us researching for our first drift car these rock man thank you! do you have any opinions on the rx8 chassis? i know the drive train isn't at all ideal
Steering is terrible! And if you don't have a good setup it snaps back super hard! Atleast the one I drove did! I noticed with the rx8 full lock was super fast!
This is dope but it sucks that the 240 didn’t have the proper mods to see how it would compare to a bmw. Hopefully you do this again with a properly modded 240 vs a properly modded BMW. However, I’ve been saving up for an e36 and this just solidified my choice for one! Thanks man!!
+Nick Daniel DUDE THE 240 HAD WAY MORE MODS!!!! That’s my point, dont do stuff you don’t need to do. The BMW just had coilovers... no other mods to suspension.
I know I know, I'm just saying that I wish the mods were better on the 240 so it would be a better comparison between the 2. But that's pretty much how all 240s are now, kids put on shitty coilovers and lower them as much as possible which ruin the car. I get the comparison now, those 2 cars are pretty much what you're going to get if you buy a used "drift" car from someone off craigslist.
I know you said you wouldn't recommend the bmw compact because of the rear suspension but here in my country there is a ton of e46 compacts aviable for cheap
Thats what i was thinking, the main reason i wouldnt run a fake wheel, even some real wheels of questionable quality. Few years ago my na eunos roasdster got broken into and had a crappy momo in it, the fuckers ended up pulling the rim off the spokes, came back to find the rim on the seat and the three spokes still on the column. Id never run a momo after that. Good luck in fd this year chelsea
Currently considering an available 1994 325i Sedan. Is the 2.5L in those "adequate" enough for drifting? I didn't want to get the car then think I needed to swap a stronger engine, then on top of it potentially sedan isn't best for the use-case? Or does sedan/coupe not matter much for drifting?
Is the e36 a good drift car even though I don't live in the us cuz afternarket replacement parts are hard to find for a BMW or even a e36 here and 350z are 3x more expensive here than e36(I live in the Philippines BTW)
Hey i own an e36 coupe 323i which is esentialy a downtuned 325i, i got a locking rear diff and its kinda weak, like the car wont spin in second thru corners =D
What are your thoughts on verts? In my area most e36 sedans/coupes I find are either clapped out/cost too much/automatic, but I see fairly mint verts go for next to nothing.
Should have touched on the proper way to install a harness into a car. The way it is in the bmw will compress your spine on impact. Get a harness bar and have them wrapped correctly at shoulder height. Dont be dumb, kids
If its not a structure issue and you just want a fun beater, Id talk the guy down to like 1000. Honestly the BMW's deal with rust a lot better, plus if you look you can find a 328 for 1500, that may not be perfect, but run good.
I love how a body kit 240 looks as much as the next guy but dang the e36 seems like a lot more solid car stock for stock. AND you can still find them for cheap! None of this 15k blown ka bs.
when it comes to being cheap the e36 would win all day. you cant find a 240 where im at for that cheap unless its missing an engine.
Facts this guy is talking shit. S13 are mad expensive in the UK, that’s if you find one for sale
I learnt to drift in an E36. It teaches you to be totally committed. I've just bought an S13, but it's got a fully built SR20DET. Happy days!
That bent steering wheel is what's giving that 240 the majority of a janky feeling haha
That 6 cylinder sound tho😍😍
Drives e36 for 5 min of video does solid runs, drives 240 for 17min gets decent runs. Stock for stock e36 wins
"baller" steering wheel is bent ? owner shouldve bout some coils instead lmao
yup! lol
I was struggling just watching Chelsea drift with the wheel that bent lol.
Og boost Junkie it’s that wish.com steering wheel driftlandtv reviewed 👀😂
Just wanted to say thank you for your content. Quality information without the wank factor some of the other drift channels have. I’m now itching to get a BMW and go to town on Smokey Slides. May your tires turn to smoke and may your sideways never end.
19:44 that's a f_ _king awesome backwards entry!!!!!
I've always been a 240 guy but juat bought a e36 yesterday I'm gonna be real bummed if the bmw loses lol
Engine wise nothing should break down on ya in you're e36 like a ka or sr. if you don't get a lemon e36 it's gonna last you longer then a freshly built sr
Yeah it was a 1 owner dude wrecked it and I bought it for 500 bucks lol it's not even wrecked bad either lol
if the e36 m3 is in good condition not abused then you are golden
@dwrekk He probaly wen't to a shop that over priced him and he didn't want to deal with it. my 325 1994 E36 saloon was a 2 owner car. only thing the entire car needed was paint. been a year now and i still never fails to make me smile. factory ZF trans in a sedan is hard to find in San Jose ca so i'm very very lucky.

That bent steering wheel
mpward8270 was about to say that shit is weak
Jason Coté I can’t unsee it now. Between that and the cracked dash, but what 240sx is perfect lol
haaaha
mpward8270 that was bothering me too😂
Watching you diagnose/troubleshoot problems with a cheap budget car is some of the best info I've watched in a while. More of this please!
lol that 240's bent vertex knockoff isn't fooling anybody
E36 drift tax this coming year!
it did come lol
Not really here yet in UK
Dude look at the price difference in parts from aftermarket parts, genuine bmw 328i parts, and E36 M3 parts if that makes sense like three tiers of
Already came here in California both 240s and e36s shit boxes are atleast $5,000 USD plus .
Got mine for 2800
Yeah, but the 240 has that cool seat belt thing, so...
HAHAHA
15:28 trippy angle change. The 240 sounds like it has zero sound deadening, that thing is like a tin can compared to the bmw, in terms of the chassis dampening vibration and noise
Awesome video thanks. Opens my eyes to some issues I have had. I used to have an s13 years ago and I recently bought an e36. I haven't ever been to a proper drift event, but I'm trying to learn. Thanks again.

That cheap bent steering wheel though lol
Funny thing is that I believe that's a vertex steering wheel, and those things are like 400+ lol.
GuamBombs Na no way,has to be a knock off,or been in a crash lol
It's enjoyable watching you and getting the information and the depth that you go into. Keep bringing the content and ill keep watching thank you for your time bro....
KAs have a common power steering leak issue. Can be fixed with an after market kit like the Chase bays Power steering kit. :)
you can tell chelsea dosent like 240s and I love that!
This particular one was not worth the money (as a drift car)
Its ok, us Bimmer guys hate pos drift taxed 240s!
I own both and I agree. The e36 also feels like it has more angle than the s13, stock for stock. Awesome channel man, you're a rad dude!
Yes thats because of the wheel base.
In the s13 go from 3rd to 1st will have better angle, talking hairpins atm and you will still b able to clutch kick, also as soon as u exit the corner u can immediatly upshift to 2 for that extra speed Talkin real touge racing here. That High spot/wobble of the steering wheel is killing me on the 240
That really puts in to perspective how shitty coils control a cars feel. Cant wait to get my bcs
Sean Smile me too man just ordered them this afternoon. I've been really tempted to buy a $600 set and I'm so glad a waited til I could afford the BCs.
DrFuNK yeaaah man same i got racelands rn
Lol be is shit tho
12:34 that steering wheel flex though :3
Alright, I wanna see you shredding at spirit peaks in the compact! I've seen videos of it! Lol and I either missed that event or it was a private event haha

Raceboy5512YT my Nardi steering wheel is just fine.
M3ntal i already have the reinforcements. Just not installed. South Texas cars dont really rust so theres not a lot of issues in chassis tearing apart.
Steering wheel in the 240 is buckled to tuck ha. I want an e36
I started learning on my buddies m3 to drive manual.it was very easy. if i had consistent time on it id be more better .Its a fun car to work on too
Sailing the 7 seas lol
Good video I got a ka 240 bc coilovers an sold subframe bushings got a daily gs300 looking to get a E36 now I know it slides better then my 40 🤣😂🤣🤷🏾♂️

Hate watching these videos but damn that intro song always pulls me in god I love there videos
Lol I can't believe you ran the 240 with that wheel!
I can't wait for you to do a turbo brz drift review
for those of us researching for our first drift car these rock man thank you! do you have any opinions on the rx8 chassis? i know the drive train isn't at all ideal
I drove an RX8 for a short time in Formula drift 2012. They can be good! Long wheelbase, good weight dist, but the motor and the steering is terrible.
Chelsea DeNofa awesome thank you!
Steering is terrible! And if you don't have a good setup it snaps back super hard! Atleast the one I drove did! I noticed with the rx8 full lock was super fast!
this series was rad!
This is reason I now drift an e36
a cool video could be comparing coilover brands
This is dope but it sucks that the 240 didn’t have the proper mods to see how it would compare to a bmw. Hopefully you do this again with a properly modded 240 vs a properly modded BMW. However, I’ve been saving up for an e36 and this just solidified my choice for one! Thanks man!!

Wish I could get a breakdown of my e36 from you.
Holy shit so yeah the trailing arm bushes are whats fucked on my car thanks chelsea! 🙌🏻😂
What tire pressure were you running in the rear and front of the e36?
35
What do you think about stock lexus is300 MT for drifting? Maybe you had an opportunity to drift it?
Yes I have, they aren't bad. Expensive for arms and drift stuff tho. Also they are the same as the JZX100 I drove in Japan.
EZ Knuckles makes a cheap solution for angle too.
I know you said you wouldn't recommend the bmw compact because of the rear suspension but here in my country there is a ton of e46 compacts aviable for cheap
YES YES YES!!!
That Vertex wheel has seen better days
Its probably not real
Thats what i was thinking, the main reason i wouldnt run a fake wheel, even some real wheels of questionable quality. Just bought my $500 e36 can’t want to get it out and drift it 🙌🏻
Is the e36 a good drift car even though I don't live in the us cuz afternarket replacement parts are hard to find for a BMW or even a e36 here and 350z are 3x more expensive here than e36(I live in the Philippines BTW)
i love that and would like to buy myself one
I’m your 1000th like
Hey i own an e36 coupe 323i which is esentialy a downtuned 325i, i got a locking rear diff and its kinda weak, like the car wont spin in second thru corners =D

Yea, they are ok. Just heavy.
please do an e30!!! 😍
These prices are gonna make me cry
I have an e36 but my wheels dont lock when i pull the ebrake. What can i do to make it grab stronger?
Better pads and adjust it
#Euroforlife
E36 gang for life
the steering wheel in the s13 looks pretty bent
Wish I could get an s-chassis like that for 2.5, couldn’t get one for less than 5 in upstate NY and it’d be rusted as shit 😂
travel man.
Chelsea DeNofa no doubt, you’re my favorite driver man really doing great things for the drift community can’t wait to see you tear it up this year!
2023 update, multiply those car values by 2.7
What’s your thoughts on Sn95 And Foxys compared to a s13 / e36 Mr DeNofa
Not bad BUT, they are expensive to get drift parts for.
Should have touched on the proper way to install a harness into a car. The way it is in the bmw will compress your spine on impact. Get a harness bar and have them wrapped correctly at shoulder height. Dont be dumb, kids
This is true! Good idea
Chelsea DeNofa btw man I've been watching you since CFRC was a thing. You were so fun to watch, such a damn good driver. Keep up the rad videos too!
Everytime you turn the wheel in the S13 it looks like it’s about to snap off or fly off? Is damaged? Bent? What’s up with that?
junk
4:02 gta cheat code lmao
Realm Swinger funny as!!
Chelsea what are your thoughts on Sc300's?
They are good. BUT heavy and expensive for suspension.
Chelsea DeNofa
Yeah I did notice that because they're sold as Supra parts.
Do i have to gut my e36 to drift like this or If it has a m3 lsd i can slide it with full interior?
Full interior is fine
What do you think of eBay coil overs? Like the $350 ones
Worst Idea ever. Your stock stuff will work much much better.
In the uk you have no chance of getting a s chassis for under 5000
Someone get this 240 owner a new wheel... sheesh.
“It’s not as fast, but it also doesn’t have the grip of the e36.” 😂
Should I buy a s14 that rusted out rockers for 1500~? Or skip out and look for something else, sucks living in the Midwest.
If its not a structure issue and you just want a fun beater, Id talk the guy down to like 1000. Honestly the BMW's deal with rust a lot better, plus if you look you can find a 328 for 1500, that may not be perfect, but run good.
Technical difficult.... technical differences
Should put the same tires and could and test them again
They were pretty close to the same. They didn't have 4 of the same size.
Chelsea DeNofa damn spell check I meant tires and coils
What do you think of 31 skylines ?
They are cool!
What about a $2500 Mustang?
Mustang's can work well but need a bunch of rear end suspension work to tame the straight axle. Ask me how I know...
Yea they will work. But they are expensive for drift parts.
I would have thought a Mustang would have been a cheaper option since they are so common.
Chelsea DeNofa exactly the mustangs are just starting to get popular and most drift specific parts are still mostly custom which means pricey
Your Mustang looks awesome BTW. Thanks for the info man.
I know this video is old... But $3500 for an s13?!?! Where?? 😳 I sold my coupe, rolling shell, for that 6 years ago LOL
how do the 320i bmws go?
Not bad. Watch my E46 323 How to drift videos.
will do thanks man! love the content you have been putting out !
e36 always better
Omg that wishapp vertex wheel is gonna kill that driver 😂
would it be more difficult to drift an E36 316i car?
Yea, Not enough power. You'll need rain and a lot of tire pressure.
s13 for 2500? I wish! cheapest one around here is above 15k /:
What would it take to drift my e36 320i? :)
Check out my How to Drift series that shows you how to drift a e46 323. Very similar car. Weld the diff, extend the handbrake and have fun.
Notegang💯
Watching this in 2021: $2500 car 🤣🤣🤣
240 steering wheel :D :D :D
Rad
Remember when S13s and E36s were still cheap?
*I member*
Where can I get myself a steering noodle?
eBay
6000 ? Redline is 6400 tho
Nissan 2. gear and Bmw 3. gear
An s13 shell in cali is like 3500 lol
*euro or bust*
2500 bucks is crazy to think now
