If you have an aftermarket speedo that’s your signal wire from the ecu to tell the speedometer how fast you are going it uses the speed sensor from the transmission
After looking through the comments I see where another subscriber said he found out that the yellow wire coming from the dbw harness has to be tied in with the white wire just like you jumped the red to the orange. But I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Keep the in-depth videos coming great job...
Hey brother I have old school switch only 2 wires ...constant 12 and pressed brake makes the brake lights come On ...can I run the tcc wire the brake side or do I run it to the constant 12 volt side?
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons i found out, it goes to the front prong(white) on the first switch. Just like you tapped into the orange. My harness had 2 tcc brake wires. A purple and yellow cause its DBW
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons did you ever find where the orange wire goes? I have the same cnch harness, and can't figure it out, no big deal as it's only an optional wire to hook up.
No sir your vehicle should already have that switch hooked up from your old engine and transmission I believe it is connected to your gear shifter and it kill ignition power if the gear is not in park or neutral
I’m new to old school and ls swaps. Do I have to do this if I use the original trans out of my 79 gmc? I think it’s a turbo 350 or 400. Has a 305 and is auto. Any ideas?
Great video, would this work with a non-pcm motor? I have a 85 Monte Carlo SS with a sbc 355 and no pcm. I’m running an upgraded 200-4R trans and trying to figure out the lockup.
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons hi & thanks for the respond and i have a 5.3 with the psi harness. Do i hook it to tha psi harness wires. Or tha wires frm d original dash
Dakota digital makes it pretty easy for Ls swapped vehicles they have a module that plugs into your OBD2 port , it reads all the information from your ECU and transfer it to your dash give them a call I’m sure they will be able to help
I'm getting no brake lights when I completed the wiring....I even ran the power to switch....using a 97 Camaro brake switch...I may need to use a different switch
Ok first thing to do is find the two wires that goes to your brake with the wires not hooked up to the switch your brake lights should stay on is it doing that?
The wire from pin 33 needs to hook directly to the switch , it has to have 12v constantly until you hit the brakes, so when you press the brakes you lose 12v and the ECU knows to unlock the converter
And I think that other connector you were wondering about might be for the cruise control.
Thanks bro and yes thats exactly what it was
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons 4sho any time bruh. If you ever need anything just hit me up. Good luck and many blessing
Shouldn’t that be switch power going to tcc? Brake circuit is hot with battery.
You can do it either way
On your wire harness it’s a wire that for the speedometer where do u hook that up to
If you have an aftermarket speedo that’s your signal wire from the ecu to tell the speedometer how fast you are going it uses the speed sensor from the transmission
I thought the tcc switch requires 12v key not constant 12v ?
Either way will work ecu looks for constant 12 volt input you already have it there just easier to do it all right there
Can I run a constant power wire from the cruise control prong straight my fuse box outlet with contestant 12 volt?
Yes you can all the computer wants to see is a constant 12volts until you hit the brakes
How do you run your neutral safety switch? Do I need one for my transmission?
No you don’t need a neutral safety switch you can if you want but it’s not necessary
I'm using factory plugin off 200 4r , purple and white wire , would the white be ran as 12v switched?
I’m not sure on the 200r but I would think it would be similar
Where did you hook your brake signal wire from your standalone harness to ?
That wire goes back on the switch
What about the yellow wire labeled brake signal from the harness. By you jumping that wire does that make the yellow wire obsolete?
Yeah I believe that wire was for something else on the original vehicle don’t need it for a swap
After looking through the comments I see where another subscriber said he found out that the yellow wire coming from the dbw harness has to be tied in with the white wire just like you jumped the red to the orange. But I appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Keep the in-depth videos coming great job...
Is it necessary? I’m doing a Ls swap. 85 k20 with 5.3 backed behind a 4L60.
Yes it’s necessary !!
Hey brother I have old school switch only 2 wires ...constant 12 and pressed brake makes the brake lights come On ...can I run the tcc wire the brake side or do I run it to the constant 12 volt side?
So in order for it to work it needs constant 12 volts until you press the brakes you need a newer style brake switch like the one in the video
You have the list of what all the random wires do off that style harness? Having hard time. & thanks big time for video helped a lot.
Look on lt1 swap.com for wiring
The other wire would be cruise control disconnect, I think???
Thanks I'm going to look into it!!
Thanks
Thanks for watching
Put some heat shrink over them spade connecters
Thanks for the advice but if you cut your wire the right length there is no need for heat shrink
By chance you have diagram for the random wires out the harness for gauges ?
Go to LT1 swap.com you can download a wiring diagram just match the color ECU you have (blue red) (blue green)
can i use the original brake switch
Yes you can
Where does the yellow (brake signal into pcm to verify brakes are functioning and allow DBW throttle) go. I know where the purple wire goes
Let me check the wiring diagram and get back I would think that it would get 12 volts when the brake light is on
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons i found out, it goes to the front prong(white) on the first switch. Just like you tapped into the orange. My harness had 2 tcc brake wires. A purple and yellow cause its DBW

@@Binsberry82 did you ever find out where the orange park/neutral signal wire goes? It grounds in park/neutral.

Did you have to hook up the park neutral safety signal
No it's already hooked up from the factory
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons so you didn't have to touch it for ls swap

Anytime
Thanks for the video bro
Ur welcome
Will the tcc wire have anything to do with my 4l60 not going into gear ?
It could will it shift from park to reverse and drive?
Does every swap need this switch installed? I have 98 Cheyenne, I never heard of it needing to be done
98 obs came with overdrive 4 speed transmission so you already had the switch older three speed vehicles doing a swap need to do this
A@@DIYWithTheRichardsons!@@DIYWithTheRichardsonson these trucks
Hell yeah doing it this weekend
Thanks for watching
Great video man i have a question on my 82 only have a 2 wire so i have to buy the one that have 4 wires right
Yes because you still need to use those original two wires
Definitely needed this
Glad it helped thanks for watching
What does them 3 gray wires go to and can they be eliminated?
Which wire are you referring to give me the time on video so I can see what you are talking about

No this is only for electronic transmission

Thanks for watching!!
Question, So how would you connect the cruise control with this set up?
My Criuse control is done electronically I haven't done the dbc ones yet but you could us a relay
@@DIYWithTheRichardsons could we use a relay even if we aren’t using the cruise control ?
So did you just replace this switch just because or does it have to be that one you showed that you bought or can I use my old brake sensor
You can use your factory one
