I mean no offense but if someone is dizzy, usually they search for support or like smth in the surrounding to hold onto, that's how human bodies are built. Many scenes in these dramas are ppl shutting down like robots. Either the person will hyperventilate and then faint or like grab onto smth or someone and then faint, that's the closest resemblance of fainting any drama can portray. Also, the one's who stood up and suddenly collapsed doesn't make sense to me. I mean yeah you feel kinda light headed if have been sitting for too long and suddenly stnad up but completely fainting, never seen.
You are right, having felt faint a few times in my life because of health issues, and actually passed out once, I agree. What can I say, they have to sell the damsel in distress image. I don't know where you are writing from, but in the US, pretty much all or almost all hallmark channel movies, or this type of TV movies always have a scene where the girl trips and the guy catches her on time. I believe swooning and fainting were a thing during victorian era and literature, which possibly comes from the tales of knights saving the damsel in distress from earlier european lit. I guess fainting and having some guy catch you is suppose to be romantic, it's just funny to me.

I actually have a lot of experience with passing out, the first time that it happened, I was in my dads room, and he was spinning a rifle in his hand and it hit me and I told him that it was ok and then he told me to put the gun in his closet and when I got in the closet that’s all I remember and then I woke up, but I did feel weird before it happened I just didn’t know what it was, so the point is some of those characters have probably only passed out for the first time, so they don’t really understand what they’re feeling until it’s too late🤷🏻♀️
