thats one thing i've noticed about our culture as anishinabek our songs are very inter-tribal compared to what i thought when I was younger, i enjoy the fact our relations in the different tribes may share some of the same songs its one way to bring our nations together. Miigwetch for listening glad you enjoyed the album.
Just sent this message to my aunt. Jay Minthorn oldest. Thank you for sharing this!! When was this made? I remember grandpa was making a cd or cassette tape recording with someone big in 1992. He came home and it was snowing.. Started playing this one song. And, it's one of my most beautiful and unforgettable memories!! Listening to it in his car, it blasting and snow coming down! I mean.. It was at HIS house! Just his voice and watching the snow fall from his lights.. So beautiful😍😍😍
in Ardmore, Oklahoma, i met and became friends with the late Don Joe of Pendleton, Oregon. Our wives, then, were cousins. Don retired after selling Coca Cola in Ardmore and Murray county communities for 35 years. i*ve missed this Man.
I just looked at the album. It says the cover photo of Charlie Johnson,Tom Joe, George Spino (left to right) Tom Joe was well past 80 at the time. was taken in 1953. Photo courtesy of Mrs.Tom Joe. Dont give exact date when recorded just location of Pendleton,Oregon Sorry can't provide anything further than that. Would be nice if they had more info on the albums back then. Thanks for watching/listening & commenting.
If you look at the Indian Records Inc. website, they have a "Songs of the Umatilla" album with a different cover, but same catalog number (1280). That album has 16 songs and is listed as having been recorded on September 21, 1970 in Mission.
