    This has been a long time coming! Bloom filters by Mr Bloom - it’s too perfect 😅
    Snapped up the 82mm 1/8 and 1/4 filters. As someone who shoots at night in Tokyo frequently, I can’t emphasize how much of a difference diffusion filters make. Can’t wait to try them mate and congrats 🍻

No area has been left unchecked & Philip has rigorously tested every aspect to ensure the upmost quality of standard. We are really very proud to share his spectacular creation with such a talented professional.

    I'm sold. Purchased 1/8th for 82mm. Many years ago when I worked at a production house (I was an editor) our commercial directors shooting 35mm could be found in upmarket clothing stores looking through stretched silk stockings to make their own diffusion filters because they didn't like the Tiffen filters then available to them.

    @Philip, have you been able to compare these to the "Black Pro Mist" variety of diffusion? I'd be curious to know if these have comparable strength values when compared directly to other diffusion brands. We have 1/8 strength BPM filters that live on all our lenses for television production here in Hollywood, but I like the idea of having the added "gold warmth" as an option for our outdoor filming. I particularly loved the highlight contrast and subtle warm tinting in the sky shots you took. Thanks for the professional and thorough insights in your review. Cheers

    • @philipbloom
      @philipbloom  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Jared, the strengths are indeed comparable. Much less loss of contrast. My filters aren’t just for outdoor but for indoor, night etc. The subtle warm halation is lovely and those good particles help maintain the contrast more.

    Cool, do these filters give off the green reflection when it's a light source behind the subject?
    Almost all circular filters I have used have this drawback accepted for 2 that I currently own. You can test by aiming the bloom filter center at a window while on camera lens. Then move it lens left, right, up and down. The window will be reflected like double vision but in green onto the bloom filter. If your an interview person this is no big deal. I had to do a docu style story in a building apartment while following the subject every time a light source was in the back bloom filters would reflect it as a green cast. To combat this I needed a mattebox and offangle the filters.

    • @philipbloom
      @philipbloom  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s ghosting from the bright light in frame. All filters will do that.

      Until we can make a colour tint free VND then that won’t happen. Please see my VND video about this. :)
      I stacked both for most of these shots using the NISI one which is good but polarisers at the same time.
