Most property owners have accepted the government’s offers which included the values of the properties, re-location costs and other. Some property owners accepted land to re-build, others accepted comparable properties with incentives. The opposition, like every opportunity which presents, injected itself and made this political, hence this person, here. They instigated a small number of property owners to demand exhaustive amounts for their properties which are in poor state of existence. The court actually ruled to far less values than the opposition instigated property owners demanded. How about that? I don’t understand the mentality of some folks in these comments, the governments of Guyana have always played ethnic politics on both sides for decades, they favor funding and opportunity to their supporters who are often divided amongst racial lines. If an Indo-Guyanese resident receives a better deal than her Afro-Guyanese neighbor from a government that has historical favored Indo-Guyanese communities (their supporters) then why WOULDN’T the Afro-Guyanese resident tie it back to race based on historical context? Ignorance is bliss. Sure, it may not be the exact reason, rather somebody was simply incompetent at a ministry but ignoring historical context is a fools game.
The problem that I have with us, African Guyanese, is that we love to sit back and blame other race of people like East Indian Guyanese or the PPPC for keeping us down and for our lack of progress which is totally not true in my opinion. Lest we forget, the PNCR/APN, which is considered an African Guyanese political party were in government in Guyana for almost 35 years or more. Why aren’t we, African Guyanese, also blaming them for our lack of progress and keeping us down and back in Guyana. We don’t blame the PNCR/APNU but we blame the PPPC. The problem with blaming other people for your progress is you instead of you doing the work to make progress and better yourself, you don’t do nothing to help yourself or your race except complain and play the victim game, the blame game and the race game. And you are engrossed in doing that the people that you are blaming are giving on with their life and making progress while you are not.

My community doesn’t have a victim mentality like those who you surround yourself with. I agree that a victim mentality is never a good thing but forgetting oppression is another. Issues with Afro-Guyanese prosperity stems back to colonial rule not only under the PPP or APNU, slaves were given nothing for their labour while indentured servants were given land by their former masters, that automatically starts a wealth gap and oppression from both the APNU and PPP are documented and known by the people of this nation, and that includes all races. None of these political parties actually care about Guyanese, point blank, Guyana will prosper much more if new parties arise. My point was to never forget history, not to blame it for your future.
