Wales 2016 to the semis
the BIGGEST underdog, yes wales was also an underdog but not as iceland.
Wales have a star player meanwhile Iceland has a has team
Wales was also an underdog, but for Iceland being a much smaller country and eliminating England, they were the biggest underdogs
Wales were carried by Gareth bale, quite a delirious experience being a whales fan, but beating an England with you dele alli and a superstar harry kane that gives them the spot of being the underdog (they also silenced Ronaldo in the group stage lol😅)
Eliminating England is crazy
my favorites are both denmark in 1992 and greece in 2004, it's weird seeing random champions
GREECE IS STAR BRO
Greece of 2004 was one of the most clever team in football history.
On extra, they had for coach Otto Rehagel, who on 1995 he promoted Kaiserslautern on first League and the same year celebrated the Bundesliga
He took Kaiserslautern in 1997. in the second division. He won Bundesliga in 1998.
Russia 2008 was at least on par with Turkey. That game against the Netherlands is really legendary
Poland's run in 2016 was pure ecstasy
Bro what? They only beat Northern Ireland and Ukraine. Their win against Switzerland was pure luck
@@holly9494 Yeah, but 1. This was our first time ever to get out of the Euro Group, before the tournament we tought we were just gonna crash out 2.We fought Portugal til the bitter end in pens
I think It was surprising that Greece won Euro 2004, but I think the Czech Republic's performance was also impressive. Additionally, the Czech squad was excellent .
Both were way to better than what they were portaited by mainstream media. Greece was 6th in the coeffiecient.
"But under England's pressure, Danes conceded a penalty" more like sterling showing his inner neymar jr to the world and making the biggest controversy of that euro, and even if that wasn't enough, England fans where using lasers to distract the keeper BUT HE STILL SAVED IT. Unfortunately England scored from the rebound. In that match, Sterling should've gotten a yellow card + the penalty should not have even been awarded in the first place even if Sterling was fouled because there was another ball on the pitch in that action.
Yeah..I felt so happy when England lost in the finals

Euro 2004 has a lot of surprises. Aside from that Greece's historic, big teams like Germany, Italy, and Spain flopped a lot. They didn't make through the quarterfinals after came 3rd in the group. Germany and Spain were the Euro 2008 finalists, while Italy won the World Cup two years later after that disappointing exit, which was controversial because Denmark and Sweden had caused the "Disgrace of Gijon" thing at the same time by playing a stalemate 2-2 draw.
Wales was also a surprise in the 2016 tournament
They still had the best player in form of Gareth Bale. Iceland is a true underdog, as they were the smallest nations with the smallest population.
wonderful video. brings back memories

Turkey in 2008 was Leverkusen today
Greece was by far the best underdog. They played against big teams and won them. I had never seen a better defence, such passionate players and it was completely impossible to steal the ball from them. Great fighters and terrifying defense! & some players were extremely skillful like Tsartas,he had the best accurate left foot in Europe. El Mago in Sevilla! 👏
My Dad when he watched Croatia against Turkey and when Ivan Klasnić scored for the Win but when Turkey Equalized that was big shock, and the dumbest Penalty taker here were Modric and Rakitic I don't hate them but I had do to say but in 2018 they were Beast in Penalty Shotout
Nect vid idea biggest underdog team of the year 1994-2024
Why you didnt mention Russia As underdog in euros 2008?
Turkeyyy
Because russia sucks

2016 was story of underdogs portugal, wales and iceland
Portugal?
@@kacperpawowski8345 ya portugal wasnt a good team back in 2016 neither were favourites they only got a great team again since 2020
@@aganbraganca4156 oh, didnt know the Portugese perspective of things. I always thought Poland was an underdog
To be fair, Portugal only won 1 game within 90 minutes in the tournament. They didn't win all of their group games. Given the fact Euro 2016 is the first Euro to feature 24 teams and the best 3rd place rule, it's still a great achievement.
@@kacperpawowski8345 poland was kind of an underdog as well.
Im from iceland and i still got cards from the euros 2016 ♥
each 12 years, there will be an underrated team that win Euro since 1992 (may be underrated all times or just right the moments of tournament, not always)
Denmark 1992: qualified into Euro as 2nd position after Yugoslavia got disqualified but Denmark performances were an incredible road to victory: they beated France, drew England, beated Netherlands, Germany
Greece 2004: not in the same situation as Denmark but like same vibe, Greece made it out of GS when winning Portugal (host) drew Spain, and just had more goals than Spain so they were in K.O rounds, they beated France, Czech and Portugal 2nd time to win the Euro 2004
Portugal 2016: OFC the name of the big team but 2016 is the most underrated performances of Portugal all times in all Euros (even Portugal 2021 was scarier), they did not have a good result that they should be better: 3 draws against Austria, Iceland and Hungary, all of their wins in K.o were 1-0 Croatia, 1-1 pen 5-3, 2-0 Wales but they just needed a moment to beated France (host)-who was considered to be stronger in final
If the Czechs won at 96 that would of been their 2nd euro title
I can't forget Euro 2004. Greece shocked the world
2008 🇹🇷 türkiye last minutes were crazy 🤩🤯
Fact that you mentioned the Czech Republic as an underdog every second Euro could potentially mean that they were not underdogs at all....especially in year 2004, when Czech side was one of the biggest favorites in the tournament. Did you see players playing there? (Koller - BVB, Rosicky - Arsenal, Poborsky - Man Utd, Baros - Liverpool, Ballondor winner Nedved - Juventus, Cech - Chelsea, Ujfalusi - Atletico, Jankulovski - AC Milano, Grygera - Ajax, Smicer - Liverpool, Rozehnal - PSG, Galasek - Ajax......you are talking about Czech team as an underdog? Oh, come on.
Czech Republic in 96 had great players, not really such an "underdog". And Portugal's 2000's team, seriously?? Portugal had already been in 3rd place in a World Cup and reached the semis of an Euro. Also they had their known "Golden Generation" filled with amazing/world class players, not only they were NOT underdogs but also they could have won the Euro. The previous tournaments had nothing to do with that one and that generation of players. Also, they won 3-0 against Germany in the last group stage game with Portugal's reserves, because Portugal was already qualified ;) "Not competitive", please xD. And also they had one of the best teams in 2016 so no, not an underdog at all. Countries that aren't Spain, Germany and France aren't always underdogs :) P.S.: there isn't a "bronze medal" in Euros, there isn't a game for 3rd/4th place like the World Cup. so no team gets to be "bronze"
Imagine if someone bet on Greece winning 😳🤯
This year expecting Georgia 🇬🇪🇬🇪
You should have use the icelandic commentery
"The Danes conceded a penalty"
otherwise know as Raheem Sterling flopped like only he knows how
"But under England's pressure, Danes conceded a penalty" more like sterling showing his inner neymar jr to the world and making the biggest controversy of that euro, and even if that wasn't enough, England fans where using lasers to distract the keeper BUT HE STILL SAVED IT. Unfortunately England scored from the rebound. Ay no way he forgot about Poland in 2016😭😭

poland 2016 quarter finals
Dont think Czech Republic in 2004 was surprising. They had great players, Nedved, Rosicky, Jankulovski, Cech and so on. They played the best football in that tournament in my opinion there..
Portugal 2000 was not an underdog, they were one of the best teams in Europe going to the tournament, the passing game was amazing, maybe I was more easily impressed back then, but I’ve rarely seen a team that linked the passes and game so well.
Euro 2004, people like to say that Greece were underdogs. I don't think so. They are under rated, still are.
What? Greece in general was never a great team but with Arlight players that can do something to some extend, they had the worst team out of every underdog team, they had no big talents
@@HelloIdkwhatname Greek league was 6th in the coefficient mate. Panathinaikos who had most the national team team players was in cl knockouts every year. Then PAOK,AEK were par on Ajax,Marsaille, benfica in club rankings. Greece in 2004 wasn't much different than portugal now (excluding cr7).
@@PEPE_A I was talking about the Greek National team, and no, Greek national team was worse than Portugal, they had Figo, Rui Costa, Pauleta, Ricardo Calvalho, Deco and more, so not even close, Charisteas was good but nothing compared to the levels of those Players, the same with Giannakopoulos, Zagorakis, Basinas and Karagounis, good players too but nothing out of the ordinary, not exception players, even the video stated that they had to trust each other to win because of the lack of quality compared to more popular national teams, Greece in 2004 was the worst and most underdog team to ever win a euro in the history when it comes to quality of players (in still talking about the national teams)
@@HelloIdkwhatname The Greek national team had 8/11 of the players playing in Panathinaikos (18th team of europe). Most of the team were playing cl every year and had arleady faced/win most of the players you mentioned me in the knockouts. Haristeas wasnt a good player in general, he wasnt even in the top 10 of the Greek players back then, but he was used perfeclty as a target man in the turnament. But I guess cl knockout players are shit if you say so.
You need to understand that there is football below the 4 top leagues as well. A XI with players playing the best team of the 6th league in europe is good enough to do well in a knockout turnament, we had a good manager and some luck as well and we won it.
I find funny the way you thing, beacause most people today find Portugal as favourites to win the euro even thought most of their players play in Porto,Benfica and Sporting.
@@PEPE_A they still have good players like Ruben Diaz, Joa Felix Bruno Fernandez, Cancelo, they are fine but to favourites to win a euro shouldn't be true because France is way better team, and for the wolrd cup, I don't think Portugal will win it because there's better teams out there but they might have a chance to go through the semi finals and keep playing well
An underdog with Buffon, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Pirlo, Marchisio, De Rossi, Cassano and Balotelli... ok.
Russia 2008 was also a underdog and beat The Netherlands 1-3 in the Quaterfinals
"two thousand and SEX world cup" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Caramba cara não sabia que vc fazia vídeos em inglês também sou inscrito no seu canal em português no caso SOCCERJM
Wales and Poland also are Underdogs.
Wales wins the group with Russia, England and Slovakia, eliminates Northern Ireland en 1/16, Belgium in Quarter Finals and loses against Portugal, te champions this year.
Poland ends the Group Stage with the same points than Germany but ended second, the other members of the group are Northern Ireland and Ukraine. In 1/16 finals defeat Switzerland in penalties but lost against Portugal in penalties.
16:12 what a robbery, ref :(
im from greece :)
Germany being much more complicated than Croatia , but Croatia won against them at the exact same tournament
Wales 2016?
Wales had Gareth Bale, a football legend who won 5 UCL with Real Madrid. Iceland is the smallest country and its population, so they're a clear underdogs.
also Russia 2008
@@alkiskosh6536 You can really consider this team as an underdog in Euro 2008. They beat the Netherlands, who won all 3 group games at that time. Plus, some of the Russian players were playing for Zenit Saint Petersburg, who won that same year's UEFA Cup. The most notorious one was Andrei Arshavin.
@@ezraezra2928Russia was kinda good at the time considering they qualified for the 2010 world cup a year later and their squad was notorious but it is for sure still a amazing run sadly not good enough to out up a fight against spain
@@rosnajulia Russia didn't play in the 2010 World Cup, but they should have qualified. The 2nd leg loss at Slovenia was robbed. They were inconsistent since that Euro 2008 run, with the exception of their deep run in 2018 World Cup as a host.

Do you speak English?
The next underdog team will be Georgia)
iceland 2016😍😍
Albania will be 2024 underdog story, mark my words.
Nay... not in the group they were unfortunate to draw.
@@srenclausen8534 If there is one thing about football, everything can happen. Even Albania going through that group.
@@srenclausen8534 in 2016 I was hopeless because we didn’t deserve it that much but this time we actually look like a danger and Italy and Spain are giants that are always shakey and find a way to embarass themselves and Croatia trying to hold to their ex golden generation doesn’t give them that much hope.
Italy 2020 to
Wales 2016>Iceland 2016 !
Hungary 2016>Iceland 2016 is also debatable
also there are Russia 2008 and Wales 2016
