Dude, I have to say that I have watched a few of your reviews out of curiosity and a second opinion and so far they are pretty phenomenal! I think it's pretty hilarious how you incorperate those pop culture references while still providing a solid, very professional, unbiased review!
The story was good, for a Call of Duty. It's no Mass Effect 2, but it definitely wasn't cobbled together last minute for those who want a break from multiplayer. Speaking of which, the multiplayer was surprisingly decent. It wasn't the godawful mess that was MW3, and the exo-powers twist the gameplay just enough for me to not chuck my copy out of the window screaming "MORE OF THE SAME." Jumping around the map like metal grasshoppers and shooting people in the face brings back memories of the fun that I had playing World at War online. There are a few deadfalls, though. First and foremost being the fucking invisible walls everywhere. One might say to themselves: "Oh hay, that rooftop looks like a god place to set up shop with a sniper rifle." Jump, jump, jump... fall. Maybe you missed it? Jump, jump, jump... fall again. It turns out, all the high vantage points in the map are blocked off by invisible walls for some reason, even though you can CLEARLY jump high enough to get up there. So much for verticality. Yes indeed my friends, this isn't BF3 wherein you could climb up to ungodly heights to pop some heads with a bolt-action rifle. In fact, it seems that sniper rifles are utterly useless for anything other than quickscoping. All of the maps cater to only the run-and-gun playstyle, leaving long-range gunfights a thing of the past. Anyone remember Wasteland from Modern Warfare 2? That map was the shit with its open grassy fields and sniper duels. Now, all of the AW maps are trying to be the next Nuketown, and they just feel the same. If you're not running a SMG or an AR, you're playing wrong.
The problem us that ppl would abuse those spots too much it would become annoying. I can already see some asshole camper going invis and fucking ppl up
Mark Donkor Yeah, but the cloak wasn't all that useful. It didn't turn you completely invisible, it just made you a bit harder to see. I could stil pop fuckers that cloaked midair just as easy as if they weren't using it.
Hey man I really enjoyed this one. One tiny bit of criticism and don't take it harshly. Legitimately this review delved into things no other reviewer touches. I very much like my guns to sound good and my plots to be gripping. With this review though I wished you looked into the multiplayer just a bit more. The top selling point is the exo suits. Whether it was to battle Titanfall or not competitively, they obviously focused a lot of aspects of it towards it. Even Spacey had a little role in showing the weaknesses of the thing in the campaign. So I wish you talked more about the viability of the new perks and how this exo suit and it's abilities worked. The reason why is, is that this game is competing with Titanfall, Halo Collection (with a returning multiplayer which has a HUGE fanbase), Destiny, and yesteryear's Crysis 3. Overall it's nice to see you showed some 360 gameplay and addressed players myself whom can't afford to buy a new system and frankly won't be needing to thanks to my future career. Pardon the lengthy post!

O_o I just got done with the campaign for this on PS4. I actually liked the sounds but I suppose we all react different to sounds.... Coming from a guy who generally loathes Call of Duty this one caught my interest a few months back... And I broke down and got it. Ya the campaign's short I didn't expect it to be much longer, but for once.. I have to give credit where it's due. The small new touches made it worth while, and I actually liked the story it told, and the hint of scifi it held. Overall I was marginally impressed for a CoD game, there were moments I had ot remind myself wtf i was playing and I actually had a few decent reactions to plot twists and the going ons in the campaign. Not that I ever want to purchase another CoD game again, I'm a bit happy with the purchase of this one.
Man your reviews are always just so damn good and I like that you dont use a number system. Not a huge COD fan but surprisingly the inclusion of Kevin Spacy is a selling point as I love me some Spacy and I love me some house of cards.

Kazekage Gaara i hated the gun sounds and gun models i would have been much happier with the arsenal from MW2 but more futuristic looking. There wasmt a single good pistol in the game besides the one shot pistol but that was more like a pocket sniper Where was the raging bull or the deagle or the 3 round burst robocop pistol or the shot gun revolver. Also the game should have had more smgs and assault rifles. Why no scar or AR 160 or a p90 or an ump45 /9 or an mp5k
Great review. I am def going to pick myself up a copy today. The gameplay footage reminded me of Halo 3 because of the lasers and the high jumping abilities. Looks like a must play! Thanks for the vid
They should have kept the cool looking holographic stuff on the guns from the campaign it really made them stand out compared to the plain looking models in the multiplayer. I love this game though even despite its shortcomings and i want a sequel where you have about double the health or overshields thats how i play when i kill bots and it honestly males the game much more enjoyable for me.

Good review, I enjoy how lengthy your reviews are in comparison to others. Keep up the good work. The only unfortunate thing is the realisation that there mightn't be a groundbreaking call of duty game ever again like Call of Duty 4, despite their best attempts. I'm surprised to hear that the audio was just "okay". The audio director was Don Veca, who was in charge of Dead Space's music and sound design, and that was some of the best audio work of the last generation, in my opinion.
ButtermilkTuesdays It just sounds....off. Some of the guns are weak(like I said could be because of the futuristicness of them), some ambient sounds seem to be sort of missing.

Thanks for the great review! I've been on the fence about this game for a while now, have steered clear of cod for a while. I played ghosts round a friends and just thought it was average nothing special. But I'm starting to think this one would be worth getting. Especially with you saying it's decent and giving it a Buy rating, for you to say that they must have improved it a bit, and you have been spot on (for me anyway) in all your other reviews.
This is a great review. It has depth, and covers every details in the game. For me this is a complete review of a game. Others videos only covers on gameplay, multiplayer, story and at the end conclude by giving the score.

Awesome, honest review. I was worried this title could either make or break the series since Ghosts turned a lot of people off. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to get back into the series, because I only played a little bit of MW3, due to it being really dull to me and because BF3. I did end up going to BO2 and loved it, but not Ghosts. All the new abilities look cool and I'm glad it will add to it in multiplayer and make it more fast paced, even though CoD is a pretty fast paced multiplayer experience anyway. I'm excited that they added to the bots, because I feel like I'm one of the few people that loves to have an "offline with bots" mode in a multiplayer game. Bots in CoD have never been super great and they seem like they could still definitely learn something from Quake III Arena, Unreal Tournament or bots from the source games (CS, TF2, L4D). Sound is really important to me as I'm a PC gamer and I'm a little bummed the guns sound really similar, because visuals and sound are the feedback that really has to impact us and draw us in without some sort of controller vibration or whatever. So far the it looks like they put a good amount of effort into a PC version, unlike Ghosts or a few other COD titles. World at War and the original Modern Warfare will probably always be the best PC versions of CoD, because of the extensive mods, but lets hope this can hold up and maybe there will be some support for mods (zombiessssss). I'm also pretty happy they put some effort into the campaign. The previous CoD titles had characters you probably wouldn't forget for a while, like Soap, Reznov, Price or Ghost for a few examples. I always play through the campaigns and they are a VERY important part of the game and the experience to me. This one looks to have some more effort put into it than the last few, but it could still sway away from its normal more linear experience and change things up. I haven't really cared for CoD for quite a few years now, but seeing as multiple Twitch streamers are playing this newest iteration, I thought I'd check some reviews. Yours first, 'cause you always seem to hit each point like some specially designed futuristic hammer. Just right. Whether or not I would agree with your opinion is secondary to my appreciation of your review skill. I generally happen to agree, though ^_^
It's nice to hear a good cod review, it's been awhile. I'm hoping the pc version holds up. Still trying to choose between the pc or x1 version. Do you have any thoughts on this angry?
Mr F Both versions are fantastic with the Xbox One using a dynamic resolution that goes from above 900p to 1080p and is unrecognizable to the gamer due to the speed at which it switches. I would say either is fine.

acain561 I think the campaign is enjoyable once or twice using the harder difficulties but the MP is a breath of fresh air like coming up after being stuck in a sub with a bunch of Russians eating nothing but fermented cabbage for a month. It is insane.
AngryCentaurGaming Keep in mind though I gave up cod many years ago and switched to battlefield and never looked back. In my past experience cod games are fun for 3-4 weeks before I get bored of them, a battlefield game can last me years before I stop playing it. For example when I borrowed black ops 2 for 360 from a buddy, I had it for 3 weeks, in that time I beat the campaign enjoyed many hours of multiplayer and zombies, but alas after just a short 3 weeks I felt I had played everything the game had to offer and was not very impressed. When battlefield 3 came out in 2011 I played the living shit out of it, i only just recently uninstalled it off of my computer. So in conclusion I guess what i want to ask is as a battlefield player, do you thing codaw will be entertaining enough to not only warrant the $60 price tag, but will it supply enough fun factors to keep me playing for the months ahead, or will i wish i could trade it in to game stop after a month?
Glad you reviewed this, I pre-ordered the game, and while it looks fun, I was a little nervous that they'd take a 60$ shit on me like Call of Duty: Ghost's. Now I'm glad to have it pre-ordered and can't wait to pick it up!
Great review, as always. Keep it up. I love your style of commentary; it makes you think, as sometimes some of your descriptive references can get kind of long. It's reminiscent of song lyrics heavy in wordplay, delivery, similes and metaphors. "Hold on rewind that, What?" lol. Not too excited about COD, but I know I'll end up picking up. I'm not big into mp, but I'll run the the campaign and let me son have mp.
If I already have BF4 and CS GO, is this worth it? I havent played CoD since mw2 thinking of going back in but 60 bucks for another shooter that people will stop playing in a few months...is that worth it?

Call me whatever you want, but you know what Kills your review, your excessive swearing, or swearing period. As cool as you may think you sound, It takes away your class when you swear, and to not to mention kids come here to watch your otherwise very good reviews, you influence them to swear. Just my thought.
Tor Guy Ya I do swear. That's the way I do the reviews cause that is sort of me in a nutshell. If kids can be influenced that easy well. Hope they have the kind of parents I did.
There was no internet when i was a kid and everybody in my school used swearing and talked about sex stuff and violence all the time and said way worse stuff than what you usually hear in the media and now when kids got the internet its even more impossible for them not to learn about swearing, sex stuff and violence than in the past.

My issue here that is the game repetitive? If not I might just buy because I've stoped playing cod since cod black ops 2 and the game every year is extremely repetitive, so is this game repetitive or not? please answer.

I always hear biased opinions and nary a bad word about the franchise so thanks again for keeping this review unbiased. I do have a question for you though. What modes are available via spliscreen aside from bits and exotic survival? Is there any type of special Ops (or equivalent) mode?

So are you gonna update this review with your thoughts on the multiplayer/zombies mode once you have put some good hours into them? Because frankly the traditional short campaign (now with pacing issues, how does that work?) that COD has become far too familiar with doesn't equal the 60$ price tag in my opinion... that nobody wants.

I thought the sounddesign in the gameplay demos were great? Has something changed or is it just a matter of taste.. .Cause I really think it's some of the best sound in a CoD. (I have only seen the gamplaydemo).
Emil Nissen The sound design is fairly crushed to be honest with lost of sounds occuring in the same area of the audio spectrum. The guns can be a bit weak, and there is a very distinct lack of overall ambiant sound in most places. Tested on 5.17.1headphonesand 2.1Now that being said. Some people may be less picky than me but an explosion needs low end and many here are very high and that causes some crosstalk and just loud volume and volume isn't really good sound design by itself.
Same every year they should publish cod every 2 years with tons of new idea to keep thier fans interested to the serious and get more fans . but now fans start to look away there are alot of new big budget fps titles with different aspects like Destiny and titanfall for example and free to play planet side
i knew i would eventually find something i disagree with lol! i actually think the sound design is some of the best ive ever heard in a video game, let alone in a COD game. i absolutely agree that some of the guns sound like "popcorn machines" but IMO it the subtle details that make the design so incredible. the sound of aiming down the sights, the sounds the exo suit makes after boosting and landing on the ground, the subtle cracking of glass underneath your feet. the terrain the character is on is true with the sound of footsteps (mud, puddles, glass). the point in the campaign when youre at atlas headquarters and your arm gets all fucked up and you have to have it re calibrated. the effects while sitting on the doctors table are so fucking awesome. man i think its amazing. but then again if you have sub par gun shot sounds in your shooter game that can also be problematic...
Great review Centaur, like always. I expect nothing less. I have always thought CoD had excellent voice acting. Blops 1 and 2 were voiced great and had big time stars provide great performances. And Soap and Captain Price were always stellar as was Makarov. Good stuff.

I'm surprised to hear that the audio was just "okay". The audio director was Don Veca, who was in charge of Dead Space's music and sound design, and that was some of the best audio work of the last generation, in my opinion.
ButtermilkTuesdays It just sounds....off. Some of the guns are weak(like I said could be because of the futuristicness of them), some ambient sounds seem to be sort of missing.

Thanks for the great review! I've been on the fence about this game for a while now, have steered clear of cod for a while. I played ghosts round a friends and just thought it was average nothing special. But I'm starting to think this one would be worth getting. Especially with you saying it's decent and giving it a Buy rating, for you to say that they must have improved it a bit, and you have been spot on (for me anyway) in all your other reviews.

Awesome, honest review. I was worried this title could either make or break the series since Ghosts turned a lot of people off. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to get back into the series, because I only played a little bit of MW3, due to it being really dull to me and because BF3. I did end up going to BO2 and loved it, but not Ghosts. All the new abilities look cool and I'm glad it will add to it in multiplayer and make it more fast paced, even though CoD is a pretty fast paced multiplayer experience anyway. I'm excited that they added to the bots, because I feel like I'm one of the few people that loves to have an "offline with bots" mode in a multiplayer game. Bots in CoD have never been super great and they seem like they could still definitely learn something from Quake III Arena, Unreal Tournament or bots from the source games (CS, TF2, L4D). Sound is really important to me as I'm a PC gamer and I'm a little bummed the guns sound really similar, because visuals and sound are the feedback that really has to impact us and draw us in without some sort of controller vibration or whatever. So far the it looks like they put a good amount of effort into a PC version, unlike Ghosts or a few other COD titles. World at War and the original Modern Warfare will probably always be the best PC versions of CoD, because of the extensive mods, but lets hope this can hold up and maybe there will be some support for mods (zombiessssss). I'm also pretty happy they put some effort into the campaign. The previous CoD titles had characters you probably wouldn't forget for a while, like Soap, Reznov, Price or Ghost for a few examples. I always play through the campaigns and they are a VERY important part of the game and the experience to me. This one looks to have some more effort put into it than the last few, but it could still sway away from its normal more linear experience and change things up. Mr F Both versions are fantastic with the Xbox One using a dynamic resolution that goes from above 900p to 1080p and is unrecognizable to the gamer due to the speed at which it switches. I would say either is fine.

acain561 I think the campaign is enjoyable once or twice using the harder difficulties but the MP is a breath of fresh air like coming up after being stuck in a sub with a bunch of Russians eating nothing but fermented cabbage for a month. It is insane.
AngryCentaurGaming Keep in mind though I gave up cod many years ago and switched to battlefield and never looked back. In my past experience cod games are fun for 3-4 weeks before I get bored of them, a battlefield game can last me years before I stop playing it. For example when I borrowed black ops 2 for 360 from a buddy, I had it for 3 weeks, in that time I beat the campaign enjoyed many hours of multiplayer and zombies, but alas after just a short 3 weeks I felt I had played everything the game had to offer and was not very impressed. When battlefield 3 came out in 2011 I played the living shit out of it, i only just recently uninstalled it off of my computer. So in conclusion I guess what i want to ask is as a battlefield player, do you thing codaw will be entertaining enough to not only warrant the $60 price tag, but will it supply enough fun factors to keep me playing for the months ahead, or will i wish i could trade it in to game stop after a month?

Great review, as always. Keep it up. I love your style of commentary; it makes you think, as sometimes some of your descriptive references can get kind of long. It's reminiscent of song lyrics heavy in wordplay, delivery, similes and metaphors. "Hold on rewind that, What?" lol. Not too excited about COD, but I know I'll end up picking up. I'm not big into mp, but I'll run the the campaign and let me son have mp.

As cool as you may think you sound, It takes away your class when you swear, and to not to mention kids come here to watch your otherwise very good reviews, you influence them to swear.

There was no internet when i was a kid and everybody in my school used swearing and talked about sex stuff and violence all the time and said way worse stuff than what you usually hear in the media and now when kids got the internet its even more impossible for them not to learn about swearing, sex stuff and violence than in the past.

What modes are available via spliscreen aside from bits and exotic survival? Is there any type of special Ops (or equivalent) mode?
Anthony Alvarado There is a co-op/special mode. Splitscreen works for all MP stuff that I could find.
I never played Call of Duty:Ghosts, but Advanced Warfare looks interesting. I would be interested in a copy of Advanced Warfare for Xbox One.

Because frankly the traditional short campaign (now with pacing issues, how does that work?) that COD has become far too familiar with doesn't equal the 60$ price tag in my opinion... that nobody wants.
***** No most likely not. 10+ hours of multiplayer is good enough for me to feel I can offer a buy/not buy idea and I don't have the season pass so that means I don't have zombies.

I thought the sounddesign in the gameplay demos were great? Has something changed or is it just a matter of taste.. .Cause I really think it's some of the best sound in a CoD. (I have only seen the gamplaydemo).
Emil Nissen The sound design is fairly crushed to be honest with lost of sounds occuring in the same area of the audio spectrum. The guns can be a bit weak, and there is a very distinct lack of overall ambiant sound in most places. Tested on 5.17.1headphonesand 2.1Now that being said. Some people may be less picky than me but an explosion needs low end and many here are very high and that causes some crosstalk and just loud volume and volume isn't really good sound design by itself.

Same every year they should publish cod every 2 years with tons of new idea to keep thier fans interested to the serious and get more fans . but now fans start to look away there are alot of new big budget fps titles with different aspects like Destiny and titanfall for example and free to play planet side
i knew i would eventually find something i disagree with lol! i actually think the sound design is some of the best ive ever heard in a video game, let alone in a COD game. i absolutely agree that some of the guns sound like "popcorn machines" but IMO it the subtle details that make the design so incredible. the sound of aiming down the sights, the sounds the exo suit makes after boosting and landing on the ground, the subtle cracking of glass underneath your feet. the terrain the character is on is true with the sound of footsteps (mud, puddles, glass). the point in the campaign when youre at atlas headquarters and your arm gets all fucked up and you have to have it re calibrated. the effects while sitting on the doctors table are so fucking awesome. man i think its amazing. but then again if you have sub par gun shot sounds in your shooter game that can also be problematic...

I have always thought CoD had excellent voice acting. Blops 1 and 2 were voiced great and had big time stars provide great performances. And Soap and Captain Price were always stellar as was Makarov.
