Europe and America can learn a lot from this project, better than cry about other countries, make your own countries green again. Ethiopia is now a leading country.

If only the western aid agencies knew what they were doing 50 years ago many third world disasters may have been avoided. A lot of western magic in the past turned out to be current thought. The British government in 1951tried to plant groundnuts in Tanganyika, with the western experts choosing an area badly and flash floods finally destroyed the work. This was very costly and a complete waste of time and effort. Lets hope this latest crop of experts have got it right this time. The point is all of these programmes sound convincing, and the reporters speak with so much authority you think that they must know what they're doing- let's hope so for degenerated land dwellers everywhere .

I want to replicate this idea at Chambal region and in the hills of middle and south India.

Excuse me, but if Ethiopia wasn't colonised in 1936 by Italy why did Raz Tafari(Haile Selasse) escape to the UK?

The human condition, keep taking and using until it's all gone. It's about time something is being put back and true stewardship of the land is happening.

    Soil health is paramount.
Also, introduce rocket stoves. Use compressed earth bricks. Plant grass and trees. Stop over population. Teach, train, educate.

You state it as if it is easy to implement these measures, but traditions and mindsets are hard to change. For instance, I have had an organisation introduce a bunch of rocket stoves in creches in South Africa recently. Months later only one of the creches is using their stove and the other still cook over open fire, despite training on how to use them and proving you can cook quicker with less wood on these stoves. Astounding to us, but these people think differently to us. So what makes sense to us, might not make sense to them. We are also planting trees and introducing permaculture, fortunately this is going slightly better, but again mindsets and traditions coupled with a high dependency mentality....
