Ian, the Z500 is a great looking bike! With my 59th birthday approaching quickly, I would buy a small adventure bike. The ergonomics and commuter friendliness of the adventure bike is more practical for my style of riding. (Full disclosure, I've been riding my CRF300L Rally for the past 2+years, just want something with a little more power).
Been wanting the kawa klx 300 sm or something close in this size. The price is nearly the same as the z 500, which is bonkers. You get more for the $ with z 500. I haven't decided but im looking something small & lighter....yet NOT grom small. I have to be able to "pop" onto the interstate for a few exits in my city for example. I'm pretty sure, after watching this in-depth review that I will be happier in the long run with the z 500.
Be careful what you wish for! When Kawi disco'd the KLR, I asked them to bring it back. When they did in 22, I told them to make it in green and I'd buy one. I am now the proud owner of a green 23 KLR. 💚
Yeah Kawa has so many options for easy growth: a versys 500 would sell like crazy. Especially if they would also make a lightweight offroad model. Also if they would just update their 650 engine for once because it is getting really far behind in the midsection class of bikes.
I bought an outgoing 2023 z400. I'm 70 years old, pretty much a "noobie" in the parlance of the motorcycle world, and the deciding factor for me is the weight of the bike, the lighter the better.
I'm 64, in good shape, 79 kg, 1,79 tall. Just got a NX500 and have to admit that sometimes I'm having slight difficulties and look like a beginner, even though I've ridden all kinds of bikes for 40 years. Maybe it's the 19" front wheel or the 17 L of fuel high up. My '17 NC750S didn't feel that awkward, maybe I'm getting old. Of course, the weight down low and the automatic help. :)
I've watched quite a few videos on the Z500 and yours is by far the first video I've been able to see the Z500 in such clear detail. I really appreciate that. That bike is just amazingly beautiful in my eyes. I will definitely be purchasing that bike very soon especially after watching your video. Thank You ✌🏾
I would buy a Suzuki SV650. Great engine that doesn't sound like a lawn mower,. It's been around forever with lots of aftermarket accessories available.
I know it's kind of a different conversation, but whenever I see these new bikes...I mean, they look cool, but I can't help but be extremely happy with my used V-Strom 650, bought for $2.5K.

Had a Ninja 300 used it like a baby sports tourer, rode it all over the US. Loved that bike. I can only imagine this one is that much better. The Honda isn’t as fun the way the motor just doesn’t rev out. KTM and CFMoto haven’t risen to the reliability level for serious consideration for me. But excellent point on the Versys 300, had that bike too but would buy a 400 or 500 version in a heartbeat.
I've been around motorcycle media for a couple decades. I wish I could cancel certain terminology out of the system: Dash/dashboard: these are found on old cars (hunk of metal that kills occupants in a wreck; hunk of plastic that crumples in modern vehicles) not motorcycles. This is called an "instrument display" on motorcycles. Even the airbag-equipped Goldwing doesn't have a dash/dashboard. Beginner bike: while there are low-cost, user friendly motorcycles, there's no beginner bikes. This category doesn't exist in manufacturers sales publications and catalogues, and never has. I appreciate the channel, I know you work hard at making quality content as it is your occupation.
When I wanted a bike like this I chose the CB500F. It's not a huge bike but it does have more room than the others. This matters if you are six-four like myself. Also I liked the midrange motor of the Honda. It was a small bike that rode more like a big one.
Have you ever noticed that the “naked” bikes these days actually have more plastic covers than the “sport” bike versions? This one really has that covered, just like the Tuono.
I gave some solid consideration to getting a CB500X, as I was returning to motorcyclng. The 500s are attractive. But the simple truth is that where I live, everything on the freeway is going 80MPH. And I didn't feel comfortable on the 500s running at those speeds, and having the power to be able to just "get out of the way". I had a Hawk GT back in the day, a bike not known for its power. Commuted daily in Southern California, toured it throughout the southwest. But that was 55MPH speed limit days, it was also pre-Covid. Covid unleashed a lot of drivers, and I simply don't want on a machine that's near tapped out in those conditions. So, I got a 700 instead of a 500.
I purchased a 2024 Ninja 500 ... so that one :) I picked it over the Z500 because I like the fully-faired look, and the extra wind protection is nice. I rode a CFMoto 450SS as well, and the ergo's on the 450SS are NOT for casual city riding. I'm sure that bike's fun on a track ...but so is the Ninja 500, and the N500 is infinitely more comfortable to ride.
66 years old. 15th birthday CB125 (New Zealand)RD350 (16 y.o.🫣🏍️😁) F81, T250, TS185, Z440, RD350's, FZ400, RZ350, RZ250, Motobi2C, Ninja300, Z400. 440cc largest in my lifetime. Love lightweight.🏍️🏍️
I've been riding since the '80s. Bought a leftover 390 Duke in 2018 with the intention of only keeping it one summer. I ended up keeping it 5 years. It was just so tossable and entertaining. Certainly no rocket sled, but quick enough for me. It even ended up being dead reliable. Were I to get a small bike again, I'd lean towards the little Duke or the Svartpilen. I'd at least consider the Kawasaki though.
Love your videos. I just picked up a new Ninja 500 and seriously looked at the Z500. I liked the fairings and extra wind protection from the Ninja. It’s a complete joy to ride and I’m quite pleased. It’s not going to replace my Africa Twin for long trips, but it’s just a fun and economical bike to make me feel young again.
So I personally own a Cfmoto 450ss (my 23rd bike) and work at a cycle gear so I’ve seen and rode the ninja 500. Hands down the Cfmoto is better in my opinion. The engine has so much character and looks really good. Also the features beat the ninja by far. Example: turn by turn navigation on the dash, music operation from the button on the clip on, gps tracking on the app through movement notifications. The braking is also better with the brembo brake. Im not trying to put the ninja 500 down but it’s almost as uninteresting as the cbr500 when it comes to the engine. Now working in my shop the ninja 400 is still king. Almost all new rider are hunting for a ninja 400 for a good deal. I do tell them the Cfmoto is a bike you can “grow with” not “into”. What do I mean, it’s a good bike that you can start on and then as you grow as a rider and maybe take some classes and become a better rider, you’ll see how capable the 450 really is. However it does have a skill cap. Once you get really good and take it to the track and you’ll see the limitations. However for everyday use on the street you’ll have a blast. Thanks for reading my comment and ride safe people🤙🏼
My old CB500X had the same issue with footpegs / exhaust. Interesting. It's definitely annoying in that it's pretty testable and fixable. To the first question, I have had such a good experience with the Honda 500, that it's hard not to give that the nod. That said, I think this is probably a more exciting engine. Ton of fun can be had on any of them.
I’m on my 4th bike since I started riding early last year. Went from a KLR650 to a V-Star 1100, KLX300 and now a Tracer 900 GT. All used minus the KLR which was new. I hate to push used machines, but if you can find unmolested low mileage bikes near you I feel like it really opens up options budget wise. A friend of mine picked up an FZ6 with only 8.5k on it for $4000 in near perfect condition. A bike he will never outgrow. You can’t even touch that price with a new bike unfortunately.
@@windywater5941From someone who owned the lowered version , not the S just got it lowered as I am only 29 inch inseam , as a daily rider it’s good , put a stain tune exhaust on it , it will beat any car off the lights . You can go on any trail , and ride to the trails , but it’s not a sports bike and it’s heavyish 210 kg . If you don’t go off road get the Versys 650 , that is a fantastic bike , still has a tallish seat 845mm , but you can wind down the preload on the post 22 versions remotely ….for commuting , then make it stiffer for full speed twistie use . The Versys can handle bad bitumen roads , but not great on dirt.
Owned a Ninja 400 for a year. Most fun bike I ever had. Was all black, put on carbon bits/black windshield/a Leovince slip on and it looked bad ass. So many people thought it was a 1000cc ninja. The engine is super fun and you just want smash through the gears on every road lol. I honestly had more fun with the little ninja than the 675 street triple I owned after it.
@@judge831 the engine was more playful. it really came to live after a certain rmp range. the 675 is a lot more powerful obviously. but its power delivery is extremely even throughout the rev range. the suspension and front end feel is also way better on the triumph (and it instantly made me such a better rider), but the cheap suspension combined with its light weight and fun engine made the 400 just a blast to rev out
I don't really see what Kawi is going for here. Is there a reason to take the Z500 over the CB500F? The Honda gives you dual disks up front, a longer wheelbase, and 120/160 tires to the Kawi's 110/150. And the Honda has Showa SFFBP upside down forks and the eternal 471 P-twin that will never die.
100% agreed. I've done the big bike thing too, and I guess when you start you're bound to want the big guns. But yep, once you've scratched the itch, the 500cc are pure delight and fun and I'm looking for one now, because it's so orgasmic to open the throttle wide all the time and be at legalish speeds. I would not have a 500cc as an only bike, but as a second or third, it's the dog's bollocks. I have the RT1250 and Scrambler 900, looking for either the SR450 or RS457. Why not the CBR500R or the Ninja 500? Because their engines feel and sound to me less 'noble' and gratifying than the other two mentioned.
Good review! I recently purchased a Himalayan 450. I agree 450 is good size motor. I'm not rich, so price is important. In Australia both are 9k which makes them very accessible.
As a bigger guy looking to upgrade from my Vulcan S 650 I think the Z900 SE is going to be my next bike. I just love the classic 4 cylinder sound, unfortunately there's fewer & fewer these days.
From the option you give, probably the Duke. I'll admit I have bias as I'm already an 890 Adv R owner, but something about the Duke platform feels special. Even the 390 feels less pedestrian than the Kawi or MT-03. It's also nicely equipped for tech.
I'd get the previous gen Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. Test rode one last year, the KTM single is delightful and the Swedish styling is the cherry on top. Not a huge fan of this year's redesign though. Still prefer it over the Duke, but it's a bit watered down.
I would love a Z650 RS with a CF 450 engine. That would be the perfect combo of looks, power, and sound. The price of registration in my country is double between A2 and full A 😔
They used to have a KLE 500, which was an adventurised version of the old ER5 commuter. Something like that based on this platform would fantastic, but please give it wire wheels and a huge fuel tank!
Of the competition you mentioned.. I'd probably go with the Kawasaki but only if it was green. It's a cool bike. I got to sit on one and, it's got great ergos for a sport/comfort kind of vibe.
When comparing this bike with the CB500 Hornet the most important question to me is: Do I want a screamer that revs to 11,500 rpm or do I want a more relaxed, relatively long-stroke engine that cuts off at 8,500 rpm? Do I want to rev the snot out of my bike or do I want torque down low? And: Can the Kawa beat or match 3,5L/100 km/h?
With any of the Big Japanese bike manufacturers it's hard to go wrong..... you will most likely get a long lived power plant that needs a minimum of upkeep. That's huge if you don't own tools & don't work on your own stuff. So ya got the Ninja 400/500 & then these Naked Bikes to compete in the new rider tastes department? IDKnow, I'm trying to make sense of all these bikes out there..... there's so many to choose from & I'm looking for a 1st bike since the early 90's. But I've got my lists of 8-10 Dual Sport bikes which I've researched them including mods & prices for the mods that I would want on each bike. All that said, I had to stop b/c I didn't know exactly what this bike was - I like it but I don't think I could take her down the gravel path very well? Some of you can but I'd crash// peace
I am looking forward to the new 2024 Husqvarna 401, full adjustable suspension and larger gas tank. And yes I would totally be interested in a Versys 500x. I am also waiting for the new Honda Hornet 750 to come to the US too.
6:15 What do those vibrations mean that appear at a certain speed or engine RPM? For example, on a Honda CB500X, those unpleasant vibrations can be felt when reaching a speed of around 100 km/h or at about 5000 RPM. But when you go past that speed, they disappear.
Between the options of bikes you mentioned. Not some other bike I’d rather have, like other idiots will say. I’ll take the Z500 all day. I like the naked bikes and more upright seating. And I prefer the Japanese bikes over the Chinese bikes. Pretty simple.
I am really interested to buy this z500 or ninja 500. Have had more than 25 motorcycles from motorscooters to a bmw 1200 to a KTM duke 390/690, triumph legend TT VFR800, TDM900 and now I am riding a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 with nearly 20HP. This last one I have to longest in my possession. It's for sale now, not because it is bad. It is a really fun slow bike. And I couldn't agreed more......using the term of Beginnersbikes or bike for women. It's bullshit. For example, I've had much more fun riding the KTM 390 than a BMW R850R for example. Riding on the highway only a true touring bike is good for that and even than......3 bikes I liked to do highway with it. VFR800, Ducati ST2 and a Varadero 1000cc. And all the other big Cilinderbikes were shit on the highway. And in the city and just outside the city you can have as much fun on a low CC bike than on a big bike. Probably more fun on a smaller engine bike than on a bigger. I think the new generation middle class bikes like this 451 engine, triumph speed 400, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and more are the best of 2 worlds. Traffic in Europe is getting more and more crowdy. More and more speed limits. So yes I'll will go for a test ride with this Kawasaki. The only thing I don't like about these water-cooled middle class bikes is the sound in higher revs. But hey, it is still much much better than the sound of a motorscooter, even with a aftermarket muffler. Been there done that! Great review by the way 👌🏻😉
Great review as usual. To answer your question, of the four bikes you mentioned I'd lean toward the z500. I prefer to stick with japanese reliability over the KTM and I dont think I'd ever buy a chinese bike of any kind. Between the Kawi and the Honda, I lean toward the Kawi because of price, brand loyalty and I like that the Kawi revs out a bit higher. Speaking of reving out, I was pleasantly suprised to see the redline at 11k. There was a lot of talk about how the added displacement of the new 451 engine was going to mean lower revs, which I thought was kind of a bummer. But sacrificing only 1k rpm from the redline for 50cc's doesnt seem like a terrible compromise. I think the big question now, is what does this new engine do to Kawasaki's 650 bikes? Do they bump those up to a 750? Also, why doesn't Kawasaki feel the need to offer a middle weight adv bike? Do they really expect people who get started on a VersysX to want to graduate to a KLR?
I chose the CFMOTO 450SR-S. The looks, stock underslung exhaust and meaty tone, smooth engine, adjustable forks, single sided swing arm, brembos, switchable traction control.... Whilst the Ninja is good, it sounds like a learner bike. If any of the big 4 had made the 450 that CFMOTO has, they would of dominated this class.
Great review. I've got a Z900 for commuting, but sometimes I wish I could have a smaller bike for easier filtering in the traffic. Oh, and next time when someone says your small bike, it's a 'girl bike'. Ask them this: Do you know the military motorcycles in WW2 only had 20 - 30 hp? Would you call them girl motorcycles too? 😂
The Kwaka looks good, goes Ok but I couldn't decide on it without a ride. I'd definitely avoid the unreliable KTM 390 unless you like visiting a dealer every week!
Given the choices, I’d buy the fully faired Ninja 500. The reasons being: A 390 is too small (IMO) to be a versatile adventure bike while also being a potentially high strung Austrian race bike. The Honda and your test bike while both great looking bikes, are standards with upright seating and minimal wind protection. Great for short jaunts and around town. My choice, the Ninja on the other hand, while having a minimal windshield is more aerodynamic, sits you farther forward so you would survive the freeway wind blast better, and lastly would be the best of the lot as a beginner track bike. It would be excellent for canyon carving, champ school, or track days at willow. The latter two being the safest and best way to learn to ride safely at speed. For most, the 500 would be all you really need to get off to a great start.
I had a Ninja 400 and loved it until I went on a couple longer rides and it killed my neck (I'm 42 though, so...) Traded the Ninja for a KTM 390 ADV, and it wasn't as fast or smooth as the Ninja, but it was great for commuting and camping. After a 900 mile 4 day camping trip I knew I wanted something bigger. The 390 just didn't have the power to cruise comfortably on the freeway when loaded down with gear. Now I'm on the CF Moto Ibex 800 and it's perfect, albeit heavy when riding slow offroad. I'd trade it in for a Versys if they put this engine in it.
I traded my 19' yami R1 to my son for his 18' Kawi Z125! Sure you can do 105mph in first gear on the R1 but doing 50MPH on the z125 feels like 105mph..
Why don't you mention one of the biggest pros of this bike which is its beautiful esthetics, it looks really great - nimble and aggressive at the same time. I used to own an ER6n, now changed it to Z800 but I miss the swiftness of ER.
I have to agree. Kawasaki shoul put that engine in the versys as the the versys 300 has absolutely 0 torque and and no low to mid range power for an adv bike. Thats the very reason i never bought one. Also Kawasaki needs to put the versys 650 engine in the klr650 and sales would skyrocket
I wish you would have touched on the rider connect that they offered on this bike as well, incase I missed it I apologize. I feel the versey's 500 is coming, they didn't even bother to give that bike another color option this year just the same one from last year....
Thank you OVERLORD of all things DIGITAL.....haha!!!!.......you're to big for that bike/vacuum cleaner (HA)...although the Kawasaki Z900RS SE in Yellow is pretty sweet!!!
I just got this bike and I love it, but for me it feels like the shift indicator flashes really quickly. It also feels like the bike wants to be in sixth gear by the time I hit 50 mph. I am a new rider and don't really know how you can get to 60 in 3rd gear
Just wanted to pitch in that I am not sure that your statement about insurance between the Ninja 500 and z500 is correct. For me, it’s completely wrong, at least with Progressive. I can get full coverage on a Ninja 500 for about $250 per year while a z500 is almost $500 per year, which is more expensive than insuring a Ninja 650 for me. The reason? Who knows, but the logic that fairings equal more expensive insurance does not appear to be true, at least not with Progressive insurance.
My money would go on a 390 Duke or if budget permits, the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. So much more bike for the money than the Z500. The Kawasaki design looks really dated to me and light years behind the two bikes I just mentioned. Non USD forks and that ugly headlight, the whole thing looks cheap.
To me, it's all about timing......... The crank timing on this produces a sound only rivalled by a wet fart. Like Kawasaki can't re time it.... 270 or even 360 done right.
When I see conventional forks I instantly reject that bike. So from your selection I'd probably take the KTM... if I'd be forced to choose from these only. Otherwise either 600 sport from Kawi, or Honda look like a much better option, to me.
@@ehiggins7476 I'm not the best, not the worst. I used to be towards the top of the intermediate group in my track days times. Let's say I never rode a bike, in the Z500 class and with conventional forks, that handled well. To keep the price down, the suspension is one of the first components to be 'sacrificed'. They probably can't be adjusted in any way on the Z500, but I might be wrong. I didn't check. And it's more unsprung mass also compared to upside-down forks. And yeah, it does look better. :) But usually the upside-down are of better quality imo.
Agreed. Adjustable suspension is important when you want a safe and comfortable ride at higher speeds. Looks like this one only has a preload collar 10:40
Would you buy the Z500 or a small adventure bike?

I rode the nk450 with very low expectations. I was so surprised in a good way it totally changed my perspective. I would recommend it
I purchased a 2024 Ninja 500 ... so that one :) I picked it over the Z500 because I like the fully-faired look, and the extra wind protection is nice. I rode a CFMoto 450SS as well, and the ergo's on the 450SS are NOT for casual city riding. I'm sure that bike's fun on a track ...but so is the Ninja 500, and the N500 is infinitely more comfortable to ride.
Thanks for sharing!
Ian, you should Trademark your enthusiastic giggles and laughter sounds. They set you apart 😎🤙🏻
Zack @ Revzilla ?
I would go with the CF Moto 450Nk, the 270° crank with that v twin sound and the tech for the price, can't beat it. 👍

I purchased a z500 SE last week and I love it
It's too powerful for you.
Nice to see you doing a smaller bike and thanks very much for the review. My wife is thinking of bumping up from a 300 to a 500 thanks man.
I'd at least consider the Kawasaki though.
would have to be the honda CB500F from the choices given :) looking forward to your himalayan 450 review
Do you notice vibration?
Think I'd still get a used SV650. Less tech, just more. But the z500 does seem pretty nice.
Thanks for reading my comment and ride safe people🤙🏼
The cf moto is also my favorite in this segment.
Best review for z500 on TH-cam.
Thanks
My old CB500X had the same issue with footpegs / exhaust. Interesting. It's definitely annoying in that it's pretty testable and fixable.
To the first question, I have had such a good experience with the Honda 500, that it's hard not to give that the nod. That said, I think this is probably a more exciting engine. Ton of fun can be had on any of them.
CF450 MT for me, a true all rounder
I’m on my 4th bike since I started riding early last year. Went from a KLR650 to a V-Star 1100, KLX300 and now a Tracer 900 GT. All used minus the KLR which was new. I hate to push used machines, but if you can find unmolested low mileage bikes near you I feel like it really opens up options budget wise.
A friend of mine picked up an FZ6 with only 8.5k on it for $4000 in near perfect condition. A bike he will never outgrow. You can’t even touch that price with a new bike unfortunately.
What do you think about a KLR650 being a daily driver?
Great review. i would go with the honda cb500f personally, but this would be the 2nd choice.

Noted!
Why was it more fun that the 675?
@@judge831 the engine was more playful. it really came to live after a certain rmp range. the 675 is a lot more powerful obviously. but its power delivery is extremely even throughout the rev range. the suspension and front end feel is also way better on the triumph (and it instantly made me such a better rider), but the cheap suspension combined with its light weight and fun engine made the 400 just a blast to rev out
I like the Ninja 500 because it's virtually the same as the Z500 but with the wind coverage.
I'd go for the Ninja 500. I like the looks and the extra wind protection. Plus, that Ninja name has some serious cache'
Or the new cb500 hornet
Thanks for this!
For me it would be a hard decision between Kawasaki Z500 and Honda CB500. I do not like how KTM looks. CF moto is trash imo.
Good review! I recently purchased a Himalayan 450. I agree 450 is good size motor. I'm not rich, so price is important. In Australia both are 9k which makes them very accessible.
Thanks for sharing
As a bigger guy looking to upgrade from my Vulcan S 650 I think the Z900 SE is going to be my next bike. I just love the classic 4 cylinder sound, unfortunately there's fewer & fewer these days.
Z900, amazing bike
The price of registration in my country is double between A2 and full A 😔
The only reason I’d want the se is the color , the extra stuff doesn’t really matter to me , if they made a base model in red , I’d buy that .
They used to have a KLE 500, which was an adventurised version of the old ER5 commuter. Something like that based on this platform would fantastic, but please give it wire wheels and a huge fuel tank!
Another great and thorough review! Thank you!
My pleasure!
Of the competition you mentioned.. I'd probably go with the Kawasaki but only if it was green. It's a cool bike. I got to sit on one and, it's got great ergos for a sport/comfort kind of vibe.
Given the options, I'd get the Ninja 500. It's a familiar platform and it's a workhorse. Not quite a bulletproof bike, but it's close enough.
When comparing this bike with the CB500 Hornet the most important question to me is:
Do I want a screamer that revs to 11,500 rpm or do I want a more relaxed, relatively long-stroke engine that cuts off at 8,500 rpm?
Do I want to rev the snot out of my bike or do I want torque down low?
And: Can the Kawa beat or match 3,5L/100 km/h?
28:20 lol, thanks for the review!
With any of the Big Japanese bike manufacturers it's hard to go wrong..... you will most likely get a long lived power plant that
needs a minimum of upkeep. That's huge if you don't own tools & don't work on your own stuff. So ya got the Ninja 400/500
& then these Naked Bikes to compete in the new rider tastes department? IDKnow, I'm trying to make sense of all these
bikes out there..... there's so many to choose from & I'm looking for a 1st bike since the early 90's. But I've got my lists
of 8-10 Dual Sport bikes which I've researched them including mods & prices for the mods that I would want on each bike.
All that said, I had to stop b/c I didn't know exactly what this bike was - I like it but I don't think I could take her down the
gravel path very well? Some of you can but I'd crash// peace
You should compare the mt 03 with this
I am looking forward to the new 2024 Husqvarna 401, full adjustable suspension and larger gas tank. And yes I would totally be interested in a Versys 500x. I am also waiting for the new Honda Hornet 750 to come to the US too.
Best motorcycle reviews on youtube
50 mpg? That low for this size bike, I would have expected more. My CBR500R would get 70 mpg at times
I'm a beginner, but I've already outgrown this bike, being 6'3" there's no way I can sit comfortable on this...
What do you wish you would have gotten instead ? 😢

6:15 What do those vibrations mean that appear at a certain speed or engine RPM? For example, on a Honda CB500X, those unpleasant vibrations can be felt when reaching a speed of around 100 km/h or at about 5000 RPM. But when you go past that speed, they disappear.
Plus they tend to mellow as a bike breaks in .
Aprilia 457 for me.
Communist supporter spotted .
The municipality needs to maintain these roads. :)
Nice bike I thought that was you zipping bye. Love the vids brother ✨
Between the options of bikes you mentioned. Not some other bike I’d rather have, like other idiots will say. I’ll take the Z500 all day. I like the naked bikes and more upright seating. And I prefer the Japanese bikes over the Chinese bikes. Pretty simple.
That laugh 🤯 kill the whole thing for me
I love the z500 because I able to buy a new 2022 z400 for less than MSRP OTD 😁
Great review by the way 👌🏻😉
I would buy a Yamaha MT-03 due to better chassis.
Did you notice less directional stability at highway speeds with the (shorter) 54" wheelbase? ... vs. a 58+" cruising wheelbase?
The Kwaka looks good, goes Ok but I couldn't decide on it without a ride. I'd definitely avoid the unreliable KTM 390 unless you like visiting a dealer every week!
Stuck on this and Rebel 500 first bike
For most, the 500 would be all you really need to get off to a great start.
great points!
I had a Ninja 400 and loved it until I went on a couple longer rides and it killed my neck (I'm 42 though, so...)
Traded the Ninja for a KTM 390 ADV, and it wasn't as fast or smooth as the Ninja, but it was great for commuting and camping.
There is an optional taller windscreen for the Ninja 500.
I traded my 19' yami R1 to my son for his 18' Kawi Z125! Sure you can do 105mph in first gear on the R1 but doing 50MPH on the z125 feels like 105mph..
All these bikes, like cars, are starting to look the same! "angry vacuum cleaner" --lol
Z500 for comfort, Ninja 500 for looks
2nd time watching this one......good job
Awesome! Thank you!
Is it better than SV650?
No
Why don't you mention one of the biggest pros of this bike which is its beautiful esthetics, it looks really great - nimble and aggressive at the same time. I used to own an ER6n, now changed it to Z800 but I miss the swiftness of ER.
Z400 is a heck of a deal
It's so small though it looks like a 125
I have to agree.
Hello, is this okay as a new bike for a beginner who is short? (1m60)? thank you
I swear I can only hear the angriest cow. Guessing its the induction, but I just have a steer getting progressively angrier in my ears
Did you sell the klx?
Waiting for your review on a 24 Duke 390
Thank you OVERLORD of all things DIGITAL.....haha!!!!.......you're to big for that bike/vacuum cleaner (HA)...although the Kawasaki Z900RS SE in Yellow is pretty sweet!!!
I just got this bike and I love it, but for me it feels like the shift indicator flashes really quickly. It also feels like the bike wants to be in sixth gear by the time I hit 50 mph. I am a new rider and don't really know how you can get to 60 in 3rd gear
I use the entire rev range
Just wanted to pitch in that I am not sure that your statement about insurance between the Ninja 500 and z500 is correct. For me, it’s completely wrong, at least with Progressive. I can get full coverage on a Ninja 500 for about $250 per year while a z500 is almost $500 per year, which is more expensive than insuring a Ninja 650 for me. The reason? Who knows, but the logic that fairings equal more expensive insurance does not appear to be true, at least not with Progressive insurance.
Thanks for sharing
I would buy the z500se
I'm 100kg and 185cm and I consider myself average here in Europe 🙂

@@the.communist Well I'm from Serbia, so far away from Sweden 🙂
Hello Big Rock Moto: Looking for your review of kawasai versys 650. Especially help us compare NX 500 Honda.
I’d like if they made a retro 500. Or a versys 400.
Triumph scrambler 400x review coming anytime soon?
Standard forks ruin it for me. But fun sized bike!
the 450nk all day
To me, it's all about timing......... The crank timing on this produces a sound only rivalled by a wet fart. Like Kawasaki can't re time it.... 270 or even 360 done right.
Prefiro o CB500F , saudações do Brasil 🇧🇷 🏍
C'mon Ean. Time to Jump on the Hype Train. Please Review the Himalayan 450. 👍🏻
Not even available in the US yet..
Honestly, none of them Ian... SV650 is still the best in class
The Z500 because the Kawasaki dealership is only 1.5 hours away instead of 7 hours away for other dealerships.
When I see conventional forks I instantly reject that bike. So from your selection I'd probably take the KTM... if I'd be forced to choose from these only. Otherwise either 600 sport from Kawi, or Honda look like a much better option, to me.
Are your skills at that level where you'd get all the performance a conventional fork can give you? Or you just like the way inverted forks look?
Please review the Versys X 300

I'd still buy an XT250. 😁
