Love the original idea comparing codex's. 2nd orks by far my favourite. I wish in the day I collected them. Loved the ork'y story's and looney tunes mayhem.
I didn't mind when Orks had bolters. Nowadays when every weapon (and troop, and squad and detachment, etc.) has it's own special rules, I can't be bothered.
3:30 yeah that fact they have bolt pistols /bolt guns etc. be better in 2nd if they had autoguns and or a shorter range boltgun say 20" range. having bolt weapons devalues the holyness of bolt weapons for marines.
Great idea lads, so what faction is next then? 😀 2nd ed codexs were the best for lore and art and paint stuff. 3rd were more streamlined but took most of the fun lore and art out. Do like the newer orky identity as it went but the crazy weapons have slowly disappeared which is a shame, for instance the shock attack gun is less fun now.
I'd vote Eldar next. I keep hearing from 40k TH-camrs how Eldar are beyond broken for every edition. I played 2nd as a kid, but missed 3rd through 8th, and came back in 9th ed, but in 9th every faction was broken on release. In 10th, Aeldari were broken for 18 months in spite of nerfs and having no Codex yet (soon), they are balanced pretty well now, but who knows what the Codex fairies will come up with.
It'll be good to compare a 2nd edition 1500 pts army codex to later codex's. I bought 8th edition deathwatch to build squads to support my 2nd edition ultra's. Obviously pts don't align, but the concept is there but using 2nd edition pts values. I was surprised to learn that like for like 2nd edition is so much more point expensive
I used my 2nd edition ork army for the first time ever this weekend!
Love this type of video, I hope there are more like it on the future

Has to be 2nd just for the wacky nature of the army
Im learning 4th edition as I try out 40 k , but use the 3rd ork codex atm

10th actually has a lot of the random Orkyness in it, you guys should take a look, you might like it.
@@Raising_Runelords thanks but no thanks. Glad I don't have to keep up with the newer editions. Does nothing for me
