Last year, I lived in Taiwan for a year as an exchange student. I watched a lot of your content before I went, but once I got back I took a break from studying Chinese for a couple of months. Getting back into it again and glad to be watching your videos again! :D
Excellent video Grace, really well thought out and useful! It's important to know where you're at to progress... I guess the only caveat I have is that studying for tests like TOCFL or HSK don't really prepare you to have complex conversations with actual native speakers very much, in my experience of speaking Chinese for 10 years. But if you need to pass them for entrance into university or for work, it makes sense to work to pass a test like this. Some people do thrive in a more structured environment too, so there is that as well.
this was really helpful. i haven’t felt comfortable saying i’m at a B1 level because i don’t get as much practice speaking as i would like. but i understand and read quite well at that level. i’m still getting used to reading traditional since i recently switched over 😅 it has messed with my confidence a bit because i sometimes feel like a beginner again. this was great for getting more insight into where i’m at, especially for the tocfl. thanks for sharing this!
Thank you so much for making a video on this. I never know what level I actually am. And lets be honest, resources for anything that isn't simplified china Mandarin are incredibly rare 😭 This is perfect ~
I was a little confused by the question at 9:06 報導最後指出,消費者該擔心什麼? At 8:15, it says (if I heard it correctly): 作為一個消費者,可能得祈禱這家慢遞公司的生意越做越好,不要在寄送時間到之前就倒閉了。 Of course, it implies that if the company goes out of business, you might not get your package, but I just didn't think about that for some reason. I also missed the last one, since I didn't know 沖淡,could be used that way.
I am where I thought I am. I did A1-A2 with ease, but though I could read some of the text in the intermediate section. I couldn't understand the spoken question. So I feel I am on the border between beginner and Intermediate.
B1-B2 level. Still got stuck in the listening part a little bit. I believe you shouldn't really worry about this test. Just use Chinese in real situations and remember that tests are a separate skill to master (almost like aside from listening, speaking, writing and reading, there is also "test taking" 😄😄😄) 我真不喜欢应考教育
Can I please ask what are the differences between HSK and TOCFL? Is it simply that the HSK is from mainland and the TOCFL is from Taiwan? I wonder if there’s a difference in the difficulty of the questions too? Like a HSK 4, HSK 5 level would correspond to what? Just genuinely curious that’s all 🙏 I enjoyed the video very much, thank you!😊
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! You can find more details about your question here: tocfl.edu.tw/tocfl/index.php/test/reading/list/8 (Click “HSK” at the top right of the page). There's a chart comparing how the levels correspond to each other and to the CEFR framework. I hope this helps!
@@GraceMandarinChinese It seems that they have it only for the old HSK. New HSK has a bit more similar requirements to TOCFL, with a little twist on advanced levels.
I made it through all of the spoken questions for A1-A2, but I messed up one of the written ones because I’ve been learning how to speak it, not read and write the characters. Is it bad for me to learn how to speak the language well & then come back to characters to learn how to read?
You're doing a fantastic job! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Advanced is super hard. The guy say so many things it is hard to remember and catch main points. Next time please give reasonable time for reading so dont need to pause
I hope you enjoyed today’s quick test! Feel free to share your results in the comments! :)
The way difficulty jumped from intermediate to advanced is scary. But very happy that i got 2/2 in listening and 1/3 in reading in the C1-C2 level.
I did the opposite lol. 3/3 in the reading and 1/2 listening
*cries in tone deaf*
Your oral English is getting better and better!
Aww thank you for noticing that! 🥰
@@GraceMandarinChinesekeep it up! You speak English better than some Americans!
Interesting to see how rusty my Chinese has got since I left China 4 months ago. Got completely stumped by the advanced ones . Nice video Grace !

I'm at B1-B2 level. Great content.

B1-B2 level !
C1-C2 太难了 🤣
this might be a sign to touch up my Chinese. the intermediate questions would be easy for me last year...

C1-2 listening 0/2; reading 3/3... I hate TOCFL 😅

谢谢🫶🏻 您的视频都又有用又有意思的 :)
💗💗💗
The final question is just way more difficult than the other ones. I think you can even put it in the entrance exam for Taiwanese junior high students

C1-C2 yeah

I'm glad to know the TOCFL Test!
In the C1-C2 level, is it normal that I forgot the Listening content when doing question 2?....
Can you do tocful with only simplified? Will they give simplified questions too?
Do you need to know how to handwrite?
I got all of A1-A2 right and the first conversation + fourth fill in the blank of b1-b2 correct , should I just say im a2 ?
Can you say you're at intermediate level when you can understand spoken words but struggle at reading them?

I could only solve A1 - A2 sections.
Wo bu zhi dao
台湾的TOCFL高级 和 大陆的HSK6,哪个更难啊?纯好奇😂
Chinese is not my native language. I can speak Mandarin and Cantonese but I can't read or write. Have you ever encountered a case like this?
Well...sadly i'm still a very beginner level, so i can't barely understand the questions
No worries! 加油! It's totally fine to take your time and improve step by step! 💪

What’s the lowest level you have?🤣🤣👍 i try tho!!👊💪💪👍👍👍
I don’t like Chinese accent 😹 , I prefer Taiwan one
Depressing test. I will definitely stop learning after seeing this
The advanced section made me realise the infinite chasm of knowledge that I have yet to learn in Chinese 🥲
