The story about youth soldiers is a popular story among people in the south of Thailand. According to Thai reserve army student textbook, the story of the youth soldiers took place in Tha Nang Sang canal/ bridge in Chumporn which is a part of the upper southern region. The youth soldiers were emergency assembled to fight against the Imperial Japanese army who landed on the east coast of the province. All of the youth soldiers (approximately 30 of them) was ordered to hold the bridge and fight until the main forces arrive. In that totally outnumbered battle, some sauce said 3 or 4 of the youth soldiers lost their lives including the squad leader who was got shot into his head. The battle ended with the cease firing because of the government leader Field marshal Plaek have made an agreement with the IJA to allow them to march their troops across Thailand to attack Burma (today is Myanmar).
P.s. The youth soldiers are all high-schoolers (except for the squad leader who was the army officer). They were around 16-18 at that time.
