No wonder Lucifer became disheartened with sinners. After literally being banished for giving humanity free will and knowledge he saw all his sacrifices blow up in his face with every bad decision sinners choose to make
He was only ever allowed to witness the bad side of free will, never the good side !
You could say they were all "bad apples"
Tbh, I feel like (in hazbin) when Lucifer fell he was doing things that from his perspective, didn’t have consequences. But when the older angels saw his ideas, they saw that they may have bad outcomes, and instead of talking to him and teaching him that they might not be the best choices, they simply told him not to do it but he did it anyways. It’s like when you tell a kid not to do something and they ask why. If you tell them your reasoning, they’re going to understand that that’s not a good decision, and they’ll be less likely to do it now and in the future. If you don’t tell them why and just say “because I said so” they’re not going to see the problem and they’ll be more likely to do it. Perhaps it was something like this, a mis-communication.
That could make a lot of sense! And while kids definitely have that behavior, it's very common with neurodivergent people for sure, which I do believe Lucifer to be. So a miscommunication like that would honestly make sense if he did try to bring up his ideas just to be told "No bc we said so" and not be given any better reason why, I agree!

He has a lot of little things, like his special interest in ducks, his poor social skills (though his isolation probably contributed a lot to that one), inability to read the room at times- I could go on. Even depression can be more common for ND people. It's all honestly what made me love him so much, as I can relate to a lot of his lil quirks (:
Adding to this, the initial rejection could also have been a trust and obedience exercise that he failed. Like when a child asks a question that requires an age-appropriate answer and in some cases a parent has to go, "I can't tell you too much right now, can you please trust me when I say I'll tell you when you're ready to know?" It could've been a case where his curiosity and ambition outweighed his loyalty, and that, even with mostly good yet misguided intentions, is still a treasonous act, therefore leading from HH!Lucifer's sort-of rebellion to his subsequent banishment.
(I've yet to fully watch the show, so it's possible I'm missing some details on this depiction of Lucifer's downfall, so this is pretty much just speculation/theory-fodder/AU potential LOL)

They say the path to hell is paved with good intentions, and no one knows how true that is better than Lucifer. He had to beat of intentions wanting to give the gift of free will to humanity so people could do great things, but Murphy’s Law had something to say about this

OH. MY. GOSH. You have no idea how happy I am to hear the Jekyll and Hyde concept album used in an animatic! I only know one other person who actually likes the musical, and it was the director the time I was in Finding Nemo. It's so nice to hear a song from one of my favourite soundtracks used. I heard the opening notes and just went... "No way. Heck yeah!" Thank you so much! Also, this is an excellent animatic!

THIS IS A MASTERPIECE, I AM SO GLAD SOMEONE MADE AN ANIMATIC ABOUT THE COURT CASE WITH LUCIFER!! Gives me goosebumps) It hurts to see Lucifer so encouraging in the circle of his former comrades.
Do you understand how absurd this is? Lucifer was LITERALLY banished for giving humanity FREE WILL and knowledge.
He was the FIRST to give this to people. Do you understand how badly they treated him? And the angels still found something terrible in this.
I know why Lucifer immediately fell in love with Lilith. She did not listen to Adam, she went her own way, and Lucifer is just like her.
These dreamers prefer to follow their own desires, they do not want to always obey others, they do not want to limit themselves to what they love to do most. Just look how confidently he's trying to explain everyone about good and evil. (Poor guy) I see he actually says the right things, He doesn't deserve any of this :(

You know while this animatic is about Lucifer proposing the fruit of knowledge I could also see this song being used in a proposal to introduce an element that would undo the effects of Lucifers gift of knowledge.
Perhaps an Angle proposes the removal of free will viewing it as an aberration in an attempt to undo creation's greatest conceived mistake and utterly erasing the concept of evil.

The animatic looks lovely, even if the lyrics are a little contradictory to Lucifer's canon intentions. You nailed the Hazbin style, and it is sad to see Lucifer so polite and driven when you KNOW how harsh the reaction is gonna be. Using similar angles to Charlie's parts in You Didn't Know is also a great touch.
@@8nicopink868 Thank you! Yeah, Jekyll's intentions in the musical are quite different from Lucifers, but the song came to me randomly and gave me this vibe otherwise, of Lucifer standing before Heaven's court, or something.

Strangely since season 1 ended I've had a fanfic/head canon in which those slain by angelic weapons don't actually fade into the either but rather materialize in a whole other part of hell know one knew about that dose just what this song is about. only in a literal sense, your good self becomes a dark angel and your bad self becomes an archdemon and the 2 shall be in physical conflict forever. Also this part of hell is ruled by Mephisto and a female Belial as and evil husband and wife.

This would be a great scenario if we ever get to see the meeting between Lucifer and the Angels on how to better humanity!
Theologically speaking, according to the Mormons, Lucifer suggested to remove agency so mankind would never commit sin, thus people would ascend to Heaven in guaranteed salvation without the need of a Savior. I believe this was the idea the other angels, and God even, rejected when we see the opening of Hazbin Hotel's first episode.
In the bible -if I remember correctly, lucifer wanted to control humanity so that they didn't have a choice - they had to choose good. He didn't understand why humans should be given the chance to be led astray or have free will when there was the very good chance they would choose wrong and not be able to return to heaven. Heaven was like no sir we are going to give humans free will that's the whole point of Earth bro. And he rebelled and was cast out of heaven, then he was like fine u want to give humans free will I'll show them what it means to good and evil (# malicious compliance) - by having Adam and Eve disobey god in not eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Thus in their disobeying and of eating the fruit Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden and the world became harsher.
Again- if I'm recalling correctly. And I know that Hazbin isn't sticking to the bible, but this animatic is a good parallel of that "lets get rid of evil/ free will" in a way that fits Hazbin's version of Lucifer v nicely. Well done!
