More often than not, they grew up watching the same movies as everyone else. However, when they got older, their tastes changed and expanded. Not everyone stays locked in their eight year old mindset.
Just because you don't appreciate films made pre-1990 doesn't mean other people under 30 are like that. Don't get mad that some people love to be cultured and explore different eras of cinema instead of only what's popular in the last 20 years.
No one has earned the right to genuinely love the films they themselves starred in like Djimon Hounsou.
