@@31redorange08 not a thing. she was killing it for being so young. she was only 21 at the time. but there is a night and day difference in her stage presence now. she owns the stage and her vocals are on point and have matured.
you can really hear how much younger hayley is in the 2009 one, and its so cool to see her able to put more growl and hit higher notes without straining her voice in the 2022 version. great video!
She was hitting higher notes even in the After Laughter era(2017-2018) but I think the growl came out after good years of rest before the tour started last year.
that 2009 performance is imo the best live version of Decode we've ever got but good lord her voice has matured since, it's always been incredible but now she's so much more comfortable with her range
The Jimmy Kimmel version is also a contender because it's the only live version (that I know of) where she nails the high part at the end of the chorus. th-cam.com/video/BMTCXKePIbs/w-d-xo.html
Man, you can hear how much she’s grown. She had to switch techniques a lot throughout the years to avoid the strain you can hear in the 2009 one. She’s the best vocalist of our generation
I love that rawness in her younger voice though, even though it's not technically a "good" thing. You can really hear it in the MTV Unplugged show from 2010.
Paramore in 2009 was an absolutely fantastic band. Awe inspiring. Those 5 young people had the soul of a much older and wiser band. Those shows in Japan at Summer Sonic are LEGEND.
watching this just makes me realize how much i've grown up with this band. i still remember hearing riot for the first time only a year after i graduated from high school lol
Thanks! These 2 videos are my favorite for each era. One shows the young/raw and the other the more mature/developed voice of Hayley. This also shows Zac's drumming approaches which are both awesome. I will be creating more soon!
This song is the best thing to come out of the twilight films. Both performances are great and she's got a long career still ahead of her, so we could probably put these performances against 2035 Hayley.
Not sure if it's just me but i also love the evolution of how she sings "here" over the years. Obv in 2008-2010 i think, she sang it exactly like she did in the studio version. In 2013, it changed from "hee-yar" to "yairrrr" which i personally love as well because, well i don't know much about the musical or singing terms y'all use but her vibrato there just sounds so good to my ears. The Radio BBC Big Weekend thingy is a good example of that and the one from Germany, i think? So yeah, then from 2014 to this day she goes "hair" now which i don't love as much but i still like. I do understand how it's easier that way though but yeah, that's that. Love how you mixed these, btw!
Only subtle differences 14 years later! You can hear a tad more soul in Hayley's modern vocals, versus a little more aggression and high range in her 20's. It's good she's rockin' out and preserving her voice at the same time!
Things like this it's hard to tell if age has changed her voice or technology because different stages have different acoustics and different mics and settings can alter it too. There is so many factors that could change even who's doing the backing can make it change. Regardless still think she's perfect at singing in both childhood and even adulthood loves and lives for this queen of pop punk. Love how after all this time she still has orange hair. What a queen
She has stated that between BNE and Self-Titled, she worked with her vocal coach to slightly alter the way that she sings to put less strain on/ensure longevity of her voice. And damn did it pay off. Paramore's live sets now have so much more vocal nuance, and Hayley takes a lot more liberty with opting for altered parts on a lot of the tracks (hearing her harmonize with herself here was awesome). Hayley in her teens had this sort of raw energy and power to her voice that were truly amazing, but it's matured into a voice that has so much depth, variation in style, and feels a lot more free-floating and effortless. She's just so talented, and she and the rest of the band have evolved in such a beautiful way over the last decade or so.
Surprised to see so many people thinking the new version is better. I think the old one is better. Its has that classic tone she use to carry and seems like more passion and raw.
Voicewise, obviously much smoother now, her vocal grip is incredible... but Bandwise, my gawd 2009 Paramore what amazing and so cool. 2022 Paramore works and is fine.

I think a lot of the difference isn't even her age it's just the fact she was losing her voice and it was more raspy back in Tokyo. She didn't sound like that at most 2009 gigs
I like 2009 Hayley better. Even though 2022 is technically better, there's a rawness in her 2009 voice that isn't there and I just like that tone more.
Great idea and execution, especially enjoyed the cross-over parts. Call me nostalgic, but I prefer the previous lead guitarist, seems like this one doesn't harmonize as well with Hayley's voice, it's kinda ironic since Josh's vocal was actually rather decent yet you can barely hear it most times with a few exceptions. What's your view on this? Also are you going to continue with other songs in future?
If you are referring to the latest touring guitarist then yes, I am still trying to get used to his backing vocals but I heard he had toured with several bands already. So let's wait. In regards to Josh, I would prefer Taylor's Brother Justin as backing. You need to check how he performed before he stepped down last year. His harmonies do compliment Hayley's singing. And yes! I have one more video on the way!

New video is out! th-cam.com/video/f6GXpG-sF4o/w-d-xo.html
@@janbenosa Oh right, had totally forgot about him - there I agree with you. Great to hear it - might give a clue on the name of the song?
@@quintessentialboredom4714 can't say yet but it's in the Riot album. And it's not just going to be a duel. ;-) Wish me luck because the audio editing is a bit tricky.
@@janbenosa If you ever wish to compare Here we go again (16!!) years apart, this is probably one of the better recordings back from their early days th-cam.com/video/arzdj5X4bRM/w-d-xo.html
I will add that to my list! New video is out! th-cam.com/video/f6GXpG-sF4o/w-d-xo.html
