i love that one too! the whole 80s music vibe, the kids how change their style as they discover new bands xD so relatable
i LOVED this movie, the soundtrack off course is amazing, the cameos, but specially the acting, the 3 leads are incredible but for me Iris Hainsworth standout with such a complex character, she is amazing!
i have to politely disagree ...
those love/sex part were totally unnecessary and the screentime could have spent otherwise ..
yet my oscar goes to Adrian/Hunter
for someone who this was his first ever gig and on top of that has no previous experience in the metal world whatsoever ... this was spot on and i would have lost any bet, by saying there is no way he never was exposed to any metal music before
They didn't even show the sex scene, they are teenagers, what do you expect?

I'm 57 and loved this film.....good fun, good memories, good stuff, all the way thru.....the 3 main actors and supporting cast were excellent.....

Compared some of the recent major studio releases...it was time well spent.....
Hope there is a follow up to this…theres definite possibilities. Very relatable, awkward, on the fringe group of teens who slay. Whats not to love? An unlikely trio but they pull it off well. Love the instrumental talent.

@@ericcartman7361 it's not a fantastic film, but it's very good and fun. It's a slightly silly comedy movie with very 16 year old boy humour which makes sense since the characters are 16
Just watched it and it’s a solid 10/10. Aaannnnddd my playlist is all Metal now. It’s a wonderful outlet for me, I think I found my favourite genre now.
I just watched this loved it. Why was it not publicized more? The stranger things recently had that phenomenon of metal scene this is up there too. Not enough recognition!

I think they meant to say "King Diamond", who has stated his look was more inspired by Alice Cooper than Kiss. However, he might have said that because Kiss supposedly threatened to sue him.
The type of face paint used in black metal bands are historically from traditional norse culture. Thats why most black metal bands are norwegian, hence the genre "Norwegian Black Metal", which is notoriously anti christian because of the slaughtering of norse people and forced christianity.
They probably said KISS because someone is more likely to recognize KISS over the words black metal.

As a fan of the “real” metal back in high school(I graduated in 2018), this film was SO relatable. I had a similar elitist mentality of anything past the 90’s except Lamb Of God were posers. Later, I realized I was actually the asshole in high school. I treated people badly when I thought I was just being bullied at the time. There needs to be a second part to this movie
I'm into the extreme side of metal, and I'm in a death metal band myself, and I watched this film last night. It was certainly fun, but I felt it played into the stereotype of metalheads a little too much. Also the bizarre mixing up of genres got on my nerves after a while. Like, they play old school thrash/heavy metal, but they call themselves death metal, but go on about Satan a lot like it's black metal? Probably just me nitpicking genres but they got a lot of the references right so I'm not sure how they messed that up :/

I took the film as very tongue in cheek when it came to portraying the behavior of metalheads. Especially when it came to how Hunter talked about subgenres and how he despised anything that wasn't "metal."
It was just making fun of pretentious folks that plague our community and it felt so damn spot on. As for the mixing up genres thing, I don't even know how to respond to that, man. Does it matter that much? It's not like it's an accurate portrayal of anything, this movie is satire in so many ways. If you wanna see spot on metal representation then just watch a documentary like "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey."

Netflix releases a movie without any WOKE shit? One of the funniest teen comedies in Netflix, love the Metal references! Hail Satan! (I'm an Atheist)
The irony is that metal is the original woke - we had LGBTQI+ from the get go with bands like Judas Priest, we had BIPOC influences all through the genre (from Hendrix and Blues), we had strong independent women - Lita, Doro, Girlsschool, Runaways - metal had it all. No one cared, all that was important was the music.
It's just the current sad-sacks have made it anti-fun and grim.

More like Gary Holt or Tom Aria or even Milland Petrozza, those guys have been the centre point of the Thrash/speed metal scene since it began.

I found it disappointing. Metalheads in the 80's (me) weren't awkward, weird, goofy dungeon and dragons playing, sensitive nerds, who couldn't imagine talking to girls. I guess it makes people connect emotionally somehow, but it's tiring. "Oh you are a geeky math kid who can't fit in? Become a metal-head we are full of acceptance and love." c'mon.
We had dirt bikes, BMX bikes, electric guitars, jet skis, 4x4's, chicks, muscle cars, jobs!!
We played sports , jumped off cliffs, rafted, went fishing, camping, kayaking, skated half-pipes, surfed, partied......and cranked Metallica cassettes in our Radio Shack decks.
Oh yeah and some of us had net-shirts.
It was cheesy as fck but I enjoyed it.
