I love that the fl learned her lesson from the ex when he came back with a woman and wanted to demote her to a concubine and the woman his legal wife. When the she found out the ml was the emperor she turned down her promise and told him she will nvr be a concubine or get involved with concubines who compete fr favor and power.the ml had to convince his mother to agree fr her to be his only woman that's when she accepted otherwise she had completely turned him down.this is self respect and I agree with her imagine having to live a life of chaos with other women competing fr the love and favor of your husband.
The interactions and misunderstandings between the Emperor and his secret guard are hilarious! When the Emperor told him to kill the husband's right hand (aka the husband's loyal subordinate), the guard actually took his words in the literal sense and cut the husband's arm off! And was upset he let the husband with a remaining arm!!
Just saw a similar version a few days ago and what I didn't like was the emperor already had a harem which he claimed he hasn't touched. The whole point was fl wanting to be an only wife. While in the end she was given status of empress and her son crown prince, the other women weren't mentioned clearly.
It's the "general bringing an equal wife/ wanting to demote the original wife into a concubine when he returns from war" script. As I've watched 10 or more versions, I know it ends well for the FL 😊It usually takes two pathways: 1. The FL herself is a general who retired for marriage. So she successfully divorces the husband, beats the two up and goes back to border protection. 2. The FL is the emperor's white moonlight who gets bullied by the Empress Dowager as to not let her divorce the husband and marry her son. She finally divorces and become the Empress. This version: The 2nd pathway. Good cast, except for the FL actress (only my personal opinion). The actress has a 'sad face' most of the movie, made worse by her thin eyebrows (you know when you get a bad eyebrow job, you are always 'surprised' or 'angry' until it grows back.😂). The FL is smart and decisive, not mentally weak. The ML is outrageously arrogant like other versions, and a bit more violent than a few other versions. In most versions, the husband repents and relaizes that he truly missed a gem because of his stupidity. Some even wish her happiness while others curse thier fate. But this guy doesn't repent till his death. 😡 It also adds other enemies to drag the story ( usually its the marital family and the Empress Dowager). At this point, even I feel bad fir the FL 😅
@kahluadragon8263 I agree with you that the FL is smart and worked hard for her freedom. But there are other versions with similar stories where the FL is strong enough to fight for her freedom. I hope you come across them as they are relatively high budget with a good cast.😊
FL isn't weak after she learns about her husband's, his mistress and son. She takes time to investigate anything and everything that's a leverage against her husband. She comes off weak but is strong about her decision to leave the houfu though Empress dowager is working on keeping her in there😊

I just started, ML is a good looking man so why oh why did they have to do his lips like a woman? this is not flattering. The costumes are really nice otherwise
It's a familiar storyline but, to me, the execution was not good. It didn't look like an amateur production, but it felt like one. I don't know, I'd give it a 4 or 5 out of 10.

Edit: The drama is good same as the 1st version that I watched but I prefer the 1st one. I was a little bit confused if this one is older then the 1st version 😅 the quality looks old. Anyway, the FL here is a little bit softie tho she's not weak. It's just the FL in the 1st version was strong, clear minded and very determined to achieve her plans. She goes with the flow in front of them but she's secretly very scheming. I don't know 😭 this version is not bad but if feels like it lacks something or is it just I watched a very good version before this. 😅😂😂
