Incredible, so much anticipation before the take off. Awesome job editing this. I was going to guess California by the almond trees before I read the description.
@@cbdane Currently a 128G card. I've tried multiple SD cards. The camera only records video when I'm testing on the ground. Every time I try to record something like flying is refuses to record any video.
Do you start the recording before leaving? I start it on the ground and just let it run. When I’m away for too long, it will stop recording and start creating dozens of empty folders. A new behavior.
@@cbdane I always start recording while standing next to it after it after it finishes initialization. It seems to start recording automatically. If I set it up just to test, it records me walking around just fine. If I set it up to record a flight in the same way, it shows the recording time counting up and it tracks me walking around and flying, but only records a slew of empty folders. How it seems to know the difference between me walking around a field and actually preparing to fly is beyond me. I rarely even try to use it anymore.
Nice edit CB. Great job on the touch n go. Much trickier than on grass. Wow, beautiful country. How is your trike holding up? I love the hoop, looks futuristic. Looked like such a smooth day!!! All the best in the New Year!! Jerry
Great video, love the scenery out there! So does NASA still use that strip? Also curious how you mounted your selfie-stick for the 360 camera? If you watch my last video (just put out this morning) it is almost comical the trouble I was having using my 360 camera for the first time. Thanks for sharing your flight!
It’s a retired airfield with no active traffic and it’s managed by the county. I’m a member of an RC club that is allowed to use it a few days a week (different days based on other things going on). That’s where I fly my turbine powered jets.
The selfie stick is homemade from a length of carbon fiber tube and 1/4-20 adapter from dragonplate.com. I designed the red bracket and printed it on my 3D printer. It works pretty well. I figured out I could get rid of wind noise by using a remote adapter and putting the microphone under the iPad.
@@cbdane Thanks for the replies! I am going to try to a handlebar mount and put it on the arch of my front tire, I hope it goes a little higher than where I had it last time. Also thanks about the NASA information that is pretty interesting, I would definitely want to land there or like you said do a low fly-by if no one was out there. I have a bunch of RC planes in my garage but haven't flown them in a few years, my favorite is a mustang with retracts and flaps, but I can only do so many hobbies and between woodworking, flying and of course work, I haven't been able to fit much else in. Looking forward to retirement but I have about 6 years. Thanks for the sub too! Take care!
@@ironeagletrike, the trick with the selfie stick is to get it far enough out in front so you can capture the whole trike without a lot of distortion. Too close and you’re spread-eagle (so to speak) with an awkward crotch shot. 😅 The downside of a good location is it’s right in your field of view but I’ve sort of become used to it.
My 360 camera is mounted on a custom mount about 18" above the frame's front triangle apex. It's high enough to avoid the 'crotch shot' problem and still close enough reach so I can turn the camera on and off during flight. My camera battery is only good for a little less than an hour so for long flights I like to turn the camera off during the less interesting parts of the flight.

Textbook takeoff! Nice long taxi on the touch n go. Great flight!
Awesome video, like the music and editing, well done. Pretty flight and looked fairly smooth. Glad to see you up in the air. Cheers!
Thanks John! I hope your Lowboy is treating you well!
Perfect takeoff, Brent! (I wish my Soloshot worked.) Very nice video.
What size card are you using Nick?

Great flight my friend. Nice video all around. Reminds me when I lived in Atwater and Merced area.
Thanks Bob! I’ll enjoy watching you get your trike back together and look forward to this year’s flights! Happy New Year!
I need to get out there in January or February when those hills are as green as Ireland!

Thanks Jerry! I’m very slow at getting a video together but all of you guys inspire to do it occasionally! Happy New Year!
The trike is holding up well but I’m still at low hours, just getting ready for the second oil change.
❤🎉

What is your all up weight?
Do you land and take off with trims on the bottom red line?
About 200lbs with a full tank, large reserve, flotation, strobes, iPad, etc. Add about 185lb for pilot (me). Yes, I take off with trims fully in.
@@cbdane awesome! Thank you
