Amtrak is actually trying to set up shop in Florida right now. There’s a regional rail project in the works for a Miami/Orlando/Jacksonville service. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like it’ll be complete for at least ten years.
Great video. Good to know about track two. I'm guessing Tri-Rail use that shuttle train because the rest of the Tri-Rail trains are not in good shape (embarrassing in that new building). I was going to dunk on Tri-Rail about this but its really the fault of the RTA - but really its the fault of the funding they get, which ultimately is the fault of our douche bag Florida politicians who think trains are not worth funding. So actually thank you Tri-Rail for having the awareness to try your best. Lets push our dumb politicians to fund Tri-Rail better.
I read that the issue is the locomotives and either safety systems or the emissions and the long-long Tri-Rail locomotives are not allowed under the offices/residences at Miami Central. So, the newer engines are used. But Tri-Rail was awarded funding this past summer for new rolling stock.
Thanks for showing the pedestrian bridge connecting to MetroRail and the Mover. I cringed when on Tri-Rail's social media they were celebrating opening that connection. But they were so busy congratulating themselves they forgot to take any pictures.
Thank you for your video. I’ve lived in Fort Lauderdale 30 years and never been on tri-rail. It’s nice to see I could travel to downtown Miami if I had to, but as you said, I’d probably still take my car and park, especially if south beach is the destination.
Across Tri Rail stations , Track 1 is Southbound and Track 2 is Norhbound . You just have to remember that . I hope they update signage at the transfer station .
Thanks for this! I live in Delray and fly out of MIA a lot and always take TriRail to the MIA station. But I also cruise a lot out of PortMiami and have always taken the train to the MIA station and then a Lyft from there, which costs about $20-25. Next week I have a cruise and this will be the first time I can go to MiamiCentral instead, which will leave me just 2 miles from the cruise terminal and (hopefully) a much cheaper Lyft ride. BTW a few people probably mentioned it but the reason this messed you up at first was because there's only one northbound and one southbound track at each station. So whether you're going north or south you will always get off one train and wait on the same platform for the next one to come up from behind. That is, until they launch direct service. Thing that I don't get is how the woman missed the connection. They are timed to come up 5 minutes later. If the mainline train is late pulling in, I don't understand why TriRail would send an empty shuttle to MiamiCentral knowing a train is approaching with the next one probably not being for another hour. One would think they'd hold the shuttle until the train arrived.
GG, my home station :) wish they would cut that garage to a quarter of the size because its's always empty and build some apartments instead. How much quicker is the shuttle into downtown as opposed to metrorail?
Thanks for the video. I read that that the Hialeah transfer is temporary until TriRail buys the appropriate locomotives for the Grand Central station in downtown and then they’ll go direct there. Also at the Hialeah station, you can take the elevators, no need for the stairs. Unless they weren’t working. But thanks for letting us know to stay in same track 2.
As a new floridian..it makes no sence to have a diffent fare system on the weekends for the tri rail. If im going on a 1 way trip it makes no sence to buy a $5 ticket. Yea i know it isnt much money and its only a good value for people going round trip but if your ticket is less than $5 i feel like im paying more then i should. Most rail systems in the USA have 1 pay structure for 7 days of the week and not one for the week and one for the weekend..in the beginning it was confusing af. And to also add the trains are old and dated and seemed as if the AC didnt even work. And unlike other systems like caltrain in the bay area in CA they have a no alcohol rule on the trains when federally trains are except from that rule.
Probably the new Lounge for brightline will probably be used for the people that got off of Tri-Rail and make it easier for them to get on brightline instead of walking to the main station
Until they start running a direct Service into Central Station I really don't see the point in that service. If you have to transfer anyways, why not change to a green line Metrorail? They come much more frequent, are probably more reliable and stop at much more stations within in downtown, thus making more destinations available. Trip Time ist exactly identical at 20 minutes each. IMO this service is nearly useless until it becomes a one-seat-ride from West Palm Beach. Hope they get the two line service running very soon.
The green line metro on the weekends is unreliable. I have had to wait 30 minutes, sometimes even longer for a metro to arrive. It's a painful wait. Once the metro arrives, it's another 30 minutes to arrive at downtown. You've wasted an hour at that point. The Tri-Rail shuttle is a great option because you board 5 minutes after exiting the train. But yes, direct trains to downtown will be the best option but saying the metrorail is frequent and reliable is not true.
@@crazydudetzexcept that "one seat" rides are only planned on half the trains, while the other half will terminate at the airport... So you only have half as many trip times
Great video. I don’t know how the Tri-Rail service to downtown Miami is any better than metro rail from the transfer station. Metro rail runs much more frequently so if you missed your connection, there’s another train usually in another 10 minutes. I can see with the one seat solution this being better service, but then there will be fewer trains to points south of the transfer station. I sometimes go to Hialeah market station because there’s not enough parking at the transfer station on 79th St.
Thanks for the walk through. I was in Miami back in June 2023, yeah it was under construction, Brightline is a beautiful station, I was learning the the Metro Mover is free, and nice to know that now you have more travel options in Miami Central 😁👏👌
Cool video but idk how you comparing Brightline to the Tri-Rail. Brightline is a Miam - Orlando service with 4 stops on the way (all of them in very nice places very touristy) tri rail just serves the 3 counties pretty evenly with a bunch of stations in very diverse locations
So you get off at the metro rail transfer station where you can choose to take either the shuttle tri-rail to Miami central or the metro rail to government center (right next door)
Thanks for the great video! I didn’t realize service had already started to Downtown Miami, and I’m glad Florida of all places is doing some good transit work. It looks like a good option, but with just a shuttle service right now, it seems like the Metrorail from the transfer station would get you into downtown faster. I am glad though that Miami has a really good central station now because you can connect easily between Government Center and Miami Central. I wish it was a one seat ride to downtown now, but I glad you still made this video to show it right now!
Thank you, great video. I think everyone can agree more signage (and better communication) is needed. Although this is supposed to be a two week trial so I'm sure they'll be making more changes. In the Brightline station, on the 2nd floor there are pair escalators up to the Tri-rail platform (they used to be closed). Do you know if they've opened them up now? I'd imagine you'd have to walk North on the Tri-rail platform not South as you did to access it. If this is the case, you could get off a Brightline train, take those escalators up to Tri-rail, walk the platform to the South end to access the Metrorail pedestrian bridge. The other Brightline waiting room is a mystery until I thought about it for a while... BL is using 4 car trains now, soon to be 7 and finally up to 10. With trains that long a second waiting room could be used to access those long BL trains. This way passengers won't have to walk 7 car lengths down the platform. I'm just speculating of course but it makes sense. Some sort of internal connection between the North and South waiting areas might be coming too.
2 years ago my dad had a race in downtown Miami and we had to take Tri-Rail to a few cities and when we were in Miami we had to take metrorail to get to downtown Miami but now we can just go there on Tri-Rail
The reason being is that this form of transportation was mainly intended to commute for work through the Tri-County area. Just like I do to commute to Downtown Miami, people would park and ride, and then back in the afternoon going home.
Interesting stuff, though the forced transfer and the fact that the shuttle train takes 20 minutes to traverse what is just 10 kilometers as the crow flies is frankly abysmal. Huge room for improvement, the 2 main things would be A: turn the direct trains from the airport to downtown and turn the Airport service into a shuttle and B: find a way to make the train go faster between transfer and central.
This is big news for lots people in South Florida. In the future will half the trains continue to Miami Airport while the others go to Miami central? Meaning someone people may still need to transfer?
Once Tri-Rail figures out a unified timetable for direct service from WPB to MiamiCentral, is the next plan to reroute Amtrak to MiamiCentral. I know they tried to go to the Miami Airport station, but had numerous issues with the length of Amtrak trains blocking a street at the station.
I found Wilkie D Ferguson station to be a closer connection to Metromover from MiamiCentral when I tried the Downtown Miami link for my first time on Saturday. Btw how do you access the pedestrian bridge to Government Center?
Once you've exited the train, continue walking south along the platform towards the auto sliding doors. Once you pass the sliding doors, continue forward until you reach a stop. You'll have stairs on your left and right. Walk down the stairs on your right and you'll be at the pedestrian bridge.
Really great video especially for someone not from FL who has been following the developments with Brightline Couldn’t help but laugh when you pan to the “breathtaking” and “beautiful” parking lot view 😂 I’m sure it’ll be developed into something soon
On my train, the train staff announced what platform the shuttle train would arrive at. Figure we just need to be aware of the announcements on the train. If your train arrives a little late, the shuttle train will be on the opposite platform waiting for you.
I'm glad to see the Tri-Rail app has improved. When I rode Tri-Rail, the app was awful and kept crashing. This connection would be super convenient if Tri-Rail ran later hours and more frequently, especially for sports games, the downtown night scene, and all the people working these events. Despite being a vital link its kind of useless right now to anyone but tourists. Tri-Rail keeps targeting car commuters with their giant car garages but never provides enough convenience to attract them. But considering it's Florida...thank god its finally here T-T Great video!
Great video. I will be making the transfer next month and was wondering how TriRail was going to run the transfer. Your video completely answered my questions. I am going to watch your other video on Brightline to Orlando next. I will be taking Brightline to Orlando once I arrive at Miami Central on the TriRail shuttle.
This system makes no sense. Tri-Rail arrives at the Metrorail transfer station. You now have two options. Go up to the Metrorail platform and take Metrorail downtown to the same area next to the Brightline Station. Or wait at Platform 2 at the Tri-Rail station and take the Tri-Rail shuttle to the Brightline station downtown. Two rail systems going to the same destination from the same originating station. And it took 7 additional years to make this happen from it's original proposed inauguration date. Only in South Florida could such a miss-mash be created. It's really embarrassing.
I was just visiting Miami last week and took the Brightline from Orlando and wanted to transfer to Metrorail. There was no signage of how to get there and I went in some sketchy alleyway. I’m glad you shared about the pedestrian bridge. Do you know if there is pedestrian access bridges from Brightline to Government Center?
11:18 I visited MiamiCentral on Monday, 3 days ago and it still was not advertised. I saw the bridge from outside but had no idea how to get to it so I had to walk at street level.
Great video showing the experience. Brightline recently announced increasing monthly commuter passes and it should be a no brainer for anybody to use Trirail going forward. You essentially get dropped off in the same areas of WPB, MIA and FTL with additional stops in between. If more people used Trirail hopefully the government puts more money into it.
This is an excellent video with very valuable information. It's the first time I stumble upon one of your videos, and this being it, is very well explained and insightful. I did not know there was that pedestrian bridge to cross to Government Center from Miami Central Station. I always thought that one had to get off at the Metrorail stop before Gov. Ctr. (Historic Overtown/Lyric Theater). In fact, I don't think I've ever seen any signage that says "To Miami Central Station via Pedestrian Bridge" at the Gov. Ctr. What I always see is people taking the Metro Mover towards Miami Central from Gov. Ctr. You're absolutely right, they should increase signage, and they should be proud of what they have achieved for us, the tax payers who fund everything they do.
is the tri rail shuttle train ride from Metro rail station to Miami Central much shorter than using Metro rail instead? I have to start commuting from Fort Lauderdale to Brickell once a week ( I don't drive) and my 1st experience was traumatic!
Hoping to come down and ride the this train in the next few months. We want to do TriRail, MetroRail and Metromover for our channel. Which one do you recommend between TriRail and Metrorail?
Finally caught up with the videos. As far as the TriRail is concerned I have never used it but I think it has potential as long as the ridership meets the demand since in Government Center it communicates with other services from the transit system and all in all it has a convenience factor unlike Brightline. Now you also don't have the publicity on this railway system compared to Brightline which I wonder if Brightline has been dealing with lawsuits because of the accidents and all the other controversy over it
I took the tri rail on sunday from the pompano station thinking it would go straight to miami central. Wrong. It stopped at the tri rail/metro rail transfer station where i had to buy a ticket for the metro rail to the government center station so i could get on the metro mover. I asked the people in the kiosk about miami Central, and they had no idea what i was talking about. Very confusing.
Hi Joel, So, I'm flying to Fort Lauderdale Airport on a weekend. To my understanding, I can take TraiRail train at the Fort Lauderdale Airport Station to the Metrorail Transfer. I get off at the Metrorail Transfer and jump on to the TraiRail that goes into Miami. Is that correct?
If the trains drive and leave from track 2 why is there a shuttle and not just use one train 🤔 you would think the central train station would want to run trains to the airport lol
The green line metro on the weekends is unreliable. I have had to wait 30 minutes, sometimes even longer for a metro to arrive. It's a painful wait. I read somewhere that the downtown station has some requirements that the majority of Tri-Rail trains don’t currently meet, that’s why they use a different train for the transfer. I guess in the future, Tri-Rail will update a lot more of their trains to be able to do the direct connection
I wonder what is the difference in time taking the new TriRail shuttle to Grand Central Station or taking the metro train at the same station to the same Grand Central Station?
Well the Tri-Rail shuttle train goes directly to MiamiCentral from Hialeah. The Metrorail has 9 stops before reaching Government Center so I’d say the shuttle. However, Metrorail runs more frequent
The bridge is kind of dumb, you can just take a left at the Starbucks and walk a few yards to get onto Wilke D. Ferguson MetroMover station and take that directly to Government Center. I don't know why anyone would take the bridge.
On the weekends, the orange line to the Miami International Airport does not run. They only run on weekdays. So if you fly out or arrive on a weekend, there's no metrorail option. Instead, there's a bus shuttle that takes you from the airport to the Earlington Heights station and from there you take the green line.
Would someone be so kind to tell me what’s the easiest way to travel by train, or by whichever rail to go from Miami international airport to downtown Miami? Because I’m coming from Indonesia. 🙏🏻
It sucks that riders have to transfer, because the journey on Tri-Rail is actually a few minutes SLOWER than Metrorail. Metrorail goes to more places too.
one of the reasons why the downtown link was delayed was due to the steps on the passenger coaches. if you notice, the shuttle train’s steps are much more flush to the coaches, rather than the older coaches that have more protruding steps

I'll definitely use the pedestrian bridge to continue to the airport from Brightline. It definitely beats their van shuttle to the airport
This connection on it's own isn't so great but it is a multiplier for transport options you have in the Miami metropolitan region
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. 🚂🚃🚃🏝
Awesome video! Definitely subscribed now to watch more!
Great vlog.
Ctr. You're absolutely right, they should increase signage, and they should be proud of what they have achieved for us, the tax payers who fund everything they do.
thanks I’m planning make the same trip, very helpful!
is the tri rail shuttle train ride from Metro rail station to Miami Central much shorter than using Metro rail instead? I have to start commuting from Fort Lauderdale to Brickell once a week ( I don't drive) and my 1st experience was traumatic!
Thank You!
Tri-Rail to offer a 1 seat express service into Miami Central (one train per day each way) for commuters starting July 1st.
Hoping to come down and ride the this train in the next few months. We want to do TriRail, MetroRail and Metromover for our channel. Which one do you recommend between TriRail and Metrorail?
What app did you use for the speedometer?
Ok Tri-Rail. Imagine being able to connect all the trains you mention with Amtrak
Amtrak is supposed to be moved to the airport station to connect with everything else
Finally caught up with the videos. As far as the TriRail is concerned I have never used it but I think it has potential as long as the ridership meets the demand since in Government Center it communicates with other services from the transit system and all in all it has a convenience factor unlike Brightline. Now you also don't have the publicity on this railway system compared to Brightline which I wonder if Brightline has been dealing with lawsuits because of the accidents and all the other controversy over it
Which app did you use to track the speed?
Great job with the video, keep up the good work
I took the tri rail on sunday from the pompano station thinking it would go straight to miami central. Wrong. It stopped at the tri rail/metro rail transfer station where i had to buy a ticket for the metro rail to the government center station so i could get on the metro mover. I asked the people in the kiosk about miami Central, and they had no idea what i was talking about. Very confusing.
Great video, If I have to transfer trains at the transfer station, why not just go onto Metrorail?
Greetings from Palm Beach 😎
Hi Joel,
So, I'm flying to Fort Lauderdale Airport on a weekend.
Why can't tri rail just go all the way to downtown from west palm directly with out the transfer and just call it the downtown link?
They’ll offer that in the future and there will be two lines. The blue line to MIA and the gold line to downtown
@@njv1234 o I see myfult
I read somewhere that the downtown station has some requirements that the majority of Tri-Rail trains don’t currently meet, that’s why they use a different train for the transfer. I guess in the future, Tri-Rail will update a lot more of their trains to be able to do the direct connection
@@MoTheAviator I getchu thank u
Can someone please explain to me why this link was needed? There’s a metrorail connection already there! lol
@Hejodu I’d like to ask please, does the green line metrorail run from Miami international airport to down to Miami:)? Thanks in advance.
i hope one day tampa gets this type of rail
are you allowed to bring carry-ons?
I wonder what is the difference in time taking the new TriRail shuttle to Grand Central Station or taking the metro train at the same station to the same Grand Central Station?
Well the Tri-Rail shuttle train goes directly to MiamiCentral from Hialeah. The Metrorail has 9 stops before reaching Government Center so I’d say the shuttle. However, Metrorail runs more frequent
Thanks. Good to know.
Horray!!! Level boarding!!!!!!!
Great video. What speedometer app do you use 😊
Thanks! It’s called “Speedometer 55 GPS Speed & HUD” with green and red icon
@@JoelFrancoVlogs thanks so much
so approx an hour to get to downtown from golden glades, that’s a bit rough.
Getting to the Metrorail seems like a pretty long walk. There seems like a lot of walking to where you need to go.
The bridge is kind of dumb, you can just take a left at the Starbucks and walk a few yards to get onto Wilke D. Ferguson MetroMover station and take that directly to Government Center. I don't know why anyone would take the bridge.
@@AnonUnited My guess would be for those who don't want to go down to ground level, cross the street, and go back up to the Metrorail/movie platforms.
Is the Tri-Rail Miami central station best way to go to and from Miami Int Airport
Nope, take Metrorail orange line from Government Center
On the weekends, the orange line to the Miami International Airport does not run. They only run on weekdays. So if you fly out or arrive on a weekend, there's no metrorail option. Instead, there's a bus shuttle that takes you from the airport to the Earlington Heights station and from there you take the green line.
@@JoelFrancoVlogsHey man is it possible to also take the orange line from Miami airport to downtown Miami please:)?
Would someone be so kind to tell me what’s the easiest way to travel by train, or by whichever rail to go from Miami international airport to downtown Miami? Because I’m coming from Indonesia. 🙏🏻
It sucks that riders have to transfer, because the journey on Tri-Rail is actually a few minutes SLOWER than Metrorail. Metrorail goes to more places too.
Los trenes en EEUU son viejos. En paises como Chile, Brasil o Mexico son modernos.
No son viejos, son mal mantenidos.
the infrasture was already there, how can it take them almost 7 years
I wish I do not have to wait long If I miss the connection.
Miami " Not known for having great transit" lol.... Try coming to tampa, we have no transit.
Hopefully the trirail station from the airport gets extended out west.
This guy is sooo fineeee 🔥
4:11that's not a new paint job, those are the new trains for Miami Central. The bathroom is a big indicator that its a new train.

This is such a disappointment. SMH. Why can’t they just make things convenient for the residents/taxpayers?!??
Ok why are you kinda cute tho
