Man, when i first jumped into all-grain from extract brewing your videos helped me so much. Now with time and space restrictions I've just purchased a Braumeister and I'm doing my first brew using it tomorrow. Once again here i am learning from you. Thanks, Great video.
This is the video I'll now tell people to watch who want to know how this type of system works. it's clear, concise, interesting and very professionally done. Terrific job! And although I built my own copy of one of these, which I'm very pleased with, knowing what I do now I'd have bought a Braumeister in the first place without hesitation. It was fun to build a copy but the time, effort and money involved to do it PROPERLY isn't any cheaper and may even cost more than a Braumeister. I also give credit to Speidel as a company for the upgrades its done since it first came out by obviously listening to their customers. I've only just finished watching this video of yours but I enjoyed it so much I'm heading to the subscribe button right now :-0
Hey Glenn, I don't think I've seen a whole brew day on a braumeister before. Boy it really looks easy and nice explanation of the functions. The mash in and hop additions is when I really wish there was smell-a-vision. Really good video, cheers my friend🍻
Very good looking machine. Reminds me of a very large coffee pot. Similar concept anyway. Thanks for the video. I hope the experiment produces a quality product.
Great channel, and great video. I'm a relative Newbie to brewing, and certainly to the BM. This is the kind of thing we need. Thanks. Great set-up, by the way!
great video again. love watching them, so not complicated and your explaining is in lay man terms. I'm going for the braumeister. definitely, second to none. Can't wait for second video.
You could weigh the empty fermenter, subtract that from the weight of the filled fermenter and dived that by the gravity. Than you just get the approx. volume.
Great video Glenn. FYI, I've updated my BM firmware which now adds extra hop additions and allows recipe naming which is handy, and it seems to boot up quicker, but you need the wifi module to do this and it's not exactly great value...
If you get hose y-piece, connect one end to the spiggot (the side with two connections) and then run a hose from the side with the single port out to the fermenter you should find that the open port pulls in air as the wort flows past, might be a little more convenient.
Try to get your mash ph between 5.2 and 5.4. Will interact with your hops better and create a cleaner beer over all. You want to create the ph environment for your yeast. You will be able to tell the difference 10 fold.
very nice video! I have one question though: How did you get your wort that clear?? looks amazing. I saw that you did not filter the hops at all and also you did no whirlpool, am I right? Thank you for your answer! Robin
No filter and no whirlpool indeed! I only used an whirlfloc tablet and let the wort settle for 10 min after cooling. All the trub is on the bottom of the BM. Thanks for the kind comment and question. 🍻 cheers 🍻
Get a 1.0l measure jug, set the fermenter on a flat surface, fill the fermenter 1.0L at a time and mark the level with a line and number at each litre with a permanent marker.
nice video! thats a 50 L braumeister with a 20 L malt pipe? if it is, it looks like stepping up or down your batch sizes in that is really easy. Cheers!
Yes, I always prefer to cool the wort with the pump on as also showed in my last videos. One more important thing, remove the isolation jacket 5 or 1 minute left on the boil. Cheers
Marcus Danielsson Thanks! No I don't filter the wort at all. The hop particles will drop to the bottom after the cooling is finished. I use also a wirhlfloc tablet. The wort will be clear for sure. Cheers and thanks for the comment!
homebeerbrewery Thank's for quick answer! Okey, so do you reuse the yeast for another batch later, since the hops are in the yeast/turb and might give taste to the second batch? Or maybe there's no taste of that hops anyway? :)
Marcus Danielsson I didn't taste any off flavors after an experiment I recently did. Please check my channel for that video. I used a huge load of yeast that time. Normally I use a fresh sachet of yeast. Just give it a try yourself! Cheers
Jorge Muñoz Thanks for the comment! The stainless fermenter is busy, almost done with the primary fermentation of my IPA. I only have one, maybe more in the future ;-) Please check my new video, it will be uploaded soon, very soon. Explains everything! Cheers and all the best my friend.
Hey Glen! I saw you had you're chilling water flow out through the yellow hose into a bucket and I just wondered...what do you do with it? Do you have any tips that you can pass on so that I'm not just pouring it all down the drain? Cheers... btw, I'm fermenting a vanilla porter at the moment and about to do a german pilsner and a weissbier which should hopefully be ready in time for christmas!
Just do what you like to do, you can count on your brewing software and mash thickness. I do it this way, not sure why. Just give both a try and taste and measure if there is a difference between both ways I suggest :-)
Hello I just bought the BM 20L(have yet to brew on it) and I was wonder if you could Answer a quick question. What is your average boil off rate. Thanks! Have a good weekend
mattzx77 It's usually between 2 and 2,5 liters at a 60 minute boil. It depends on the weather, in the winter you will have more condensation so also more "boil off". Just see what's happening in your case. Cheers and have fun with the Braumeister!
Ty for the quick response. I tested everything out today to make sure it works. No problems except for the leaky tap lol. Mine leaks in a different place then yours though. On the underside. Not by the gasket but closer to the tap. Just going to put a dab of food grade sealent on it for now till i get a new tap. Thanks for the great vids. I know its not easy
Hey Glen, Love the video, it makes me very happy you actually use a tripod...haha I own a 20 litre Braumeister myself, awesome machine. Just wondering how do you work out how much sparge water to use? Do you use Beersmith..etc? Thanks!
Boiling it for a few minutes sterilizes it. If there is time left for the boil a cold chiller will drop de boil down. That’s why. But I agree your method does work as well! Cheers
good evening from the bottom of Australia, Glen, just wondering approximately how much lactic acid do you use to lower the PH?....would it be about one teaspoon?
I watched the video to get to know the equipment. Is that all the boiling it achieves? Probably not... Without a vigorous boil you won't get all the bitterness out of hops (heat is necessary activate alpha acids) and probably won't get rid of DMS and related off-flavors (that would make your beer taste like boiled vegetables).
Great video Glen! So you suggested you preferred the Braumeister over the SS Brewtech equipment when it comes to time spent on brew day. I also am in it for 5 hrs on brew day with my Brewtech gear. I was curious how much time is saved with the Braumeister? Cheers.
Kevin Dillon Kevin Dillon Hi! Thanks. About the total time of the brew day: hard to say now, I need a Brew day without the camera ect. I am planning to do a timelapse with a clock so you guys can see the total brew. But You did your brew in 5 hours, including the cleanup ect? Cheers and all the best!
homebeerbrewery Yeah, usually 5hrs start to finish for my all grain batches. I love that hoist you have too. Did you ever do a vid explaining the setup? Keep the great videos coming!!
Verder topkanaal!
Beer craft at home Hoi! Proost!
Great videos! I was happy to see you return to the Braumeister as a fellow owner. I've been having issues with wort fountains, what crush size are you using on your mill? Your mash looked like it was perfect. Cheers!
Aaron Weiser I will measure it for you. The trick is to only crack the grain and not mill it. I adjusted my mill with 1 grain at the time, just a squeeze is enough to crack it. A lot of powder isn't good. Cheers
I think you ought to find the least complicated way to brew brew. This is a bit too complicated. I don't see much advantage of using one vessel to mash and boil versus two vessels one for mashing and one for boiling wort.Removing the inner sleeve that holds the mash is the problem. If you have to do it by hand ,the procedure is tricky and somewhat dangerous. That crane is cool but really?Electricity has some advantages over propane like you don't have to run down to get more propane every now and then. But I'm thinking if your making 10 gal of beer it's going to take too long to boil the wort and heat up the water for the mash. I can see this might be good for apartment dwellers without a garage or outdoor space to brew.
Man, when i first jumped into all-grain from extract brewing your videos helped me so much. Now with time and space restrictions I've just purchased a Braumeister and I'm doing my first brew using it tomorrow. Once again here i am learning from you. Thanks, Great video.
ronnie biggs Thanks!!! Good luck, happy brewing! Cheers
Excellent guide for home brewing. Liked all your videos

Thank you so much for the kind comment, I appreciate it. Cheers!
I ordered a 20L plus last week. Absolutely terrific and comprehensive information thank you! Cheers from Tasmania.
Thank you for your kind comment. Good luck and have fun with you Braumeister! Cheers
Nice brew day ... waiting patiently on the follow-up ;)
PS: Nice trick to pre-heat the wort-chiller :)
Thanks big guy. I hope to have my Braumeister singing Monday. I enjoy your videos.
Very good looking machine. Reminds me of a very large coffee pot. Similar concept anyway. Thanks for the video. I hope the experiment produces a quality product.
Classy video mate! If there was anyone ever wanting a reason to get one.....you made it look easy! Cheers
Great channel, and great video. I'm a relative Newbie to brewing, and certainly to the BM. This is the kind of thing we need. Thanks. Great set-up, by the way!
Great video of the new Braumeister never seen a start to finish one. Thanks Glen I continue to learn. Cheers Jim
Agreed on the fermenter not having measuring marks on the side. I have the same fermenter, very frustrating.
great video again.
love watching them, so not complicated and your explaining is in lay man terms.
I'm going for the braumeister.
definitely, second to none.
Can't wait for second video.
Some proper brewporn going on there, great stuff Glen!
You could weigh the empty fermenter, subtract that from the weight of the filled fermenter and dived that by the gravity. Than you just get the approx. volume.
Fantastic Video Glen, mashing in is my favioutite part of the brew day too.
hey thanks for advice with the wortchiller, i never really thought of that, cheers
Always a GREAT video! Camera work is "top notch!" Can't wait to see part 2. Cheers!
Love the smell.of mash in.. reminds me of bread baking. Great video. Cheers!
Great video Glenn. FYI, I've updated my BM firmware which now adds extra hop additions and allows recipe naming which is handy, and it seems to boot up quicker, but you need the wifi module to do this and it's not exactly great value...

Good ideal.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Great stuff as always! Makes me want to get a Braumeister, so simple! Cheers!
You always inspire to brew. Great video 👍🏻
Thanks! Cheers
Great video Glen! Looking forward to seeing the outcome of this batch... curious about the yeast!
Try to get your mash ph between 5.2 and 5.4. Will interact with your hops better and create a cleaner beer over all. You want to create the ph environment for your yeast. You will be able to tell the difference 10 fold.
Great brew day Glen, thought it was going to end up all over the floor when you wheeled it down that ramp lol cheers ;-)
Great vid., I can not wait to see what yeast you used...cheers...
very nice video!
I have one question though: How did you get your wort that clear?? looks amazing.

Great video, very informative. What make is the little block and tackle?
Great Video, I'm just getting into home brewing myself. Thanks for the excellent info :-)
Sounds like a nice brewday. Cheers
Get a 1.0l measure jug, set the fermenter on a flat surface, fill the fermenter 1.0L at a time and mark the level with a line and number at each litre with a permanent marker.
Great video, really enjoyed that one!

Yes, I always prefer to cool the wort with the pump on as also showed in my last videos. One more important thing, remove the isolation jacket 5 or 1 minute left on the boil. Cheers
Nice brewday. Ever tried a proper pH meter?
Love to have a beer with you someday and do a brew with you friend where ever you are in the world , great video thank you for sharing .
Beautiful Brew! Cheers!
Hey, nice vid!! Do you filter away the hops before adding the wort in the fermantor?
Marcus Danielsson Thanks! No I don't filter the wort at all. The hop particles will drop to the bottom after the cooling is finished. I use also a wirhlfloc tablet. The wort will be clear for sure. Cheers and thanks for the comment!
homebeerbrewery Thank's for quick answer! Okey, so do you reuse the yeast for another batch later, since the hops are in the yeast/turb and might give taste to the second batch? Or maybe there's no taste of that hops anyway? :)

Wonderful, thanks! I'll try it! :D
Great brew day, Glen. Wild yeast coming up? Cheers, Man!
Chris Meek No not wild yeast, please check out my next video :-) Good guess for sure! Cheers man and thanks for your comment!
Nice video :) Not a very big roiling boil, no? I've the same fermenter, I just put graduation mark with a marker myself
good job Glenn! I've got a question that you may solve in the next video... why not fermenting directly in the inox fermenator?
Jorge Muñoz Thanks for the comment! The stainless fermenter is busy, almost done with the primary fermentation of my IPA. I only have one, maybe more in the future ;-) Please check my new video, it will be uploaded soon, very soon. Explains everything! Cheers and all the best my friend.

Cheers for vid, your a champion
Great brewing video Cheers!!
Hey just a quick question why do you use 27.5litres for your mash? Some formulas suggest only 2.5litrs per kg of grain. I’m in between which to do
Just do what you like to do, you can count on your brewing software and mash thickness. I do it this way, not sure why. Just give both a try and taste and measure if there is a difference between both ways I suggest :-)
Damn it, this is making me want a braumeister!
Your brewery is very impressive.
Hello I just bought the BM 20L(have yet to brew on it) and I was wonder if you could Answer a quick question. What is your average boil off rate. Thanks! Have a good weekend

I'm curious how to remove the malt pipe/basket if you don't have a ceiling hoist??
Just pull it out with hands and lock it in place on the bar Speidel provided. You can find this method in several videos on YT. Cheers man
Nice video!! I just got the 10 L version. Cheers!
Great brewday Glen, i recon it'll be re-used ipa yeast?
BrooklandBackyardBrewery Pete Indeed. Check my next video please. Cheers
Nice brew day there great updates
how many hours does it take to roll the entire process, A-Z ? thanks
Hey Glen, Love the video, it makes me very happy you actually use a tripod...haha
I own a 20 litre Braumeister myself, awesome machine. Just wondering how do you work out how much sparge water to use? Do you use Beersmith..etc?
Thanks!
Thank you. I am using "Brouwvisie" . A free program programmed by a Dutch guy called Oscar Moerman. I did but a license for it. Cheers!!!
why did you add the Wort Chiller that early? Also the risk of auch Boil over is true, but the real effect is to prevent DMS.
Why do u heat the chiller so it doesn’t drop the wort temp? Isn’t that the whole point of its use? Just put it in when ready to use
Peter Downunder about 15 milliliters, 3 theespoons I guess. My tabwater PH is about 7/8. Cheers!
homebeerbrewery I guess I need that also. With blond beers I can't get ph below 6
Oke now I really need a Braumeister. 👍🏻
Welke instelling kan je aanbevelen voor de moutmolen Glenn?
what's the amount of evaporated wort? it seemed like it wasn't boiling
I watched the video to get to know the equipment. Is that all the boiling it achieves? Probably not... I measure about 1,15 mm but it's hard to say. Did you try to just crack a grain by grain? That will work for sure... Cheers
I'm going to work on it this weekend. I will check it around your setting. Thanks!
Approximately how many hours was this, from start to finish?
Normally a brewdays takes about 5 hours of time including cleaning and preparing. It depends on mash schedule and boil time of course. Cheers
Kijk met deze mooie video kan ik mijn eerste brouwsel maken met mijn nieuwe BM 20 l .........Gr . Johan
Down Under we often say it's past midday somewhere in the world... clink-clink-cheers!
This looks awesome but I'd rather keep buying my beer. Cheers from Texas!
Nice brew day brother
Great video, cheers.
Great video.
Hi. where you buy ingredients? can you help me?
With a heated recirculation system like this, why do you need to add sparge water?
You don’t really need to
How does the cooling jacket work too?
No idea, that's only a feature of the "plus" version. this is the normal one . Cheers
Is this the third time you've owned a Braumeister??
weer een goede video over brouwen glen met je speidel proost
oh man that's nice I want one now lol
No decent coffee requires that much stirring 😉
Liked, and subscribed, by the way.
