the pb-300 alpha beam isnt in the laser catagory, it is in partical beams. you have balistics, missles, EM, Lasers, and partical beams. or 5 types of weapons.

Yea seems the entire category of the particle beams was erroneously added to Lazers...
Generally easy to tell, they all do both shield and hull damage. Overall far better than the combo of laser and ballistic. I'm fond of dumping all weapons and then adding 2 to 4 PB, 2 to 4 PB Turrets and an EM. The main at 75%,power, Turrets at 50% with 25% in EM using targeting really helps out. To Minimize the loss by destruction, just boost the EM as you decrease the Main PBs soon as the shields are down.
Generally speaking, the higher grade B weapons are much better than the C class. They may have less damage per shot, but have a higher rate of fire resulting in a better DPM. They also use less power so you can equip more or balance power better
Question. Why purchase a ship for the weapons instead of purchasing these weapons for your ship? Just purchase these weapons for your ship, correct?
When it comes to missile launchers, Atlatl 280C is best. Better then 270C. Stats are all the same, except damage which is considerably higher.
You have to also take into account the fire rate.
2h 22 min video by STALVIET .... the lad that goes into detail about weapon systems, max equipped loads & the best choices for any selections on youtube, he goes into intense detail about magazines, reload times, power usage etc. etc. ... worth the watch if you're interested in weapon effectiveness!
6x Vanguard Obliterators and 6x Vanguard Hellfires for me. I don't bother with lasers or missiles anymore. When I did I used the Hunter Mag-450 Missile Launchers.

compares the ships. he usually shows it for a couple of seconds before he shows where to farm a ship.

Mate - i miss f.i. the Atlatl 280C (264/264dmg) or the very powerfull C Obliterator 250Mev-Series which smashes everything in seconds (you get them at the clinic in Deepala/Narion)...

um, I believe the “VANGUARD HELLFIRE AUTOCANNON” is the better ballistic weapon.
Indeed it is. It's not the strongest per shot but it has a very high rate of fire. Plus it takes only 2 energy allowing you to mount six.
Overall it's the best in DPS.

When you equip six of these in a suite they have the highest sustained DPS of ANY weapon in Starfield. They're just not for shields (I use 6x Vanguard Obliterators to deal with those). I never mess with missiles anymore.
