I have just discovered your channel and I really like your vidoes. Espcecially the idea of the vivarium, it's so nice when you see the ants in their nature enviroment and how react to the other ant species. I'm looking forward to see more :)
My very best tip is to watch the surface of pools with lights around them in the evening during a hot humid day! Unfortunately now is the lowseason for queens.. but dont worry they fly year around!

Absolutely!! The only requirement is that you document everything! :D So that i can see how it goes. Maybe we could eventually make a playlist about mixed species vivariums. The substrate divider is basically something that allows water and nothing else to pass. I use some pot substrate divider that my parents had, but i would recommend Carbon fiberglass window screen, its cheap and widely available :D Do you mind telling me what species you plan to mix? I am super interested in the australian one!

Ok, remember the divide the substrate thing so that they won't meet underground! Really if you need any tips or ideas just email me or comment. I superlike that your gonna try the same :D. Just last tips, are you sure that adding to species of the same genus will be fine? I mean the probably have the same "niche" and stuff so i would recommend you not to. But if so, remember to feed them on two different places at a time so that they won't mess around for one drop. :D Good luck man!

I'm actually very jealous of where you live here where i live in the US our forests are basically trees and dirt/mud and moss is a very rare thing to find and when you do it's often an ugly form of moss that can only grow to be like a cm long, but I do have my own pond when grows quite a bit of moss ;) Also in your videos it sounds like you're reading directly from a script if you are i suggest instead having notes of the main topics that you want to talk about and do some improv, but that could just be your accent and if it is sorry I'm bad at noticing those things, after i can barely speak in my first language :-/ Great video tho

Hi ! I have a question for you: I have some live moss with still some insect in it (I saw some ant, spiders, ladybug). I want to include the moss has it without washing it to include some insect in my bioactive tank. It's a 10 gallon tank with snails, springtail and isopod. Can it be dangerous (particually the ant, well, if by chance their is a queen) ? Thank you a lot, I have difficulty finding the info on the internet.
Sol Noury have gloves with detturent on When managing the antcolony later on. Stings can hurt. I think they grow very fast and have good escape prevention :D
I bought a Lasius niger colony trough the GAN projekt! And they are doing well! And i caught a formica polyctena queen a while ago but i didn't know they where parasitic... So she passed away... I also have a Camponotus Ligniperda queen!
Thanks for making videos. I've been interested in terrariums for a while, and I really want to give ants a try. I think the hardest part of getting into it is actually obtaining the ants. I'm not sure where to go besides online and a lot of the colonies ive seen are very expensive
CG Radler i bought it from a swedish flowershop named plantagen. But try to use other small trees instead if you want :D and for the larva just add a wasp or something for a week and they will all be gone

Good point! but firstly i have chosen the ant species with care. The camps are very "Surfacy" and the Lasius umbra's are almost only subterranean! For now the campocolony has drilled thru the piece of wood and is living in it for now. The umbratus colony is living right UNDER it! So we will see, they might collide after all :/ but thats how they do in the wild i guess. Both species aren't territorial and will probably just play defensively. I think they won't grow fast as i am unpredictingly(as in nature) providing them with food. Concerning the two small colonies, they can live in an acorn, no damn territorial problem :D but i get your comment and i am aware of it. But you have to remember that i chose the species with care and that the odds are actually against any fight or overpopulation! Wow i wrote to much xD
Feed them less and lower the temperature! :D but since i have chosen the species with care the vivarium can support two quite big colonies of these species!
PrinceGenesis depends on the circumstances and the species! Such an event would probably never happen in this vivarium :D its big and diverse and the antspecies are nonterritorial!

if you have a live camponotus gigas colony every one will watch you. AC and Ants international are doing trap-jaw ants, AC did the weaver ants, Ants international is doing dinosaur ants. Now your doing camponous gigas all the ants on the pole are done or are being held by a ant channel so if you do get camponotus gigas then you'll blow up. Ants international exploded when he found the dinosaur ants. Now you have a ant thats bigger than his, could be the biggest in the world. With that you can title some of your videos with the gigas ants the biggest ants in the world vs something or camponotus gigas fight wild trap-jaw ants. You could get so many views and subs.
