Doug, Excellent!! What a beatiful arrangement of one of my favorite songs. I'm looking forward to the article in AG. That guitar is beautiful and has an extremely nice tone. Keep up the good work.
@DougYoungGuitar Tab's finally out in the July 2011 issue of Acoustic Guitar. One of these days, I'll get the whole thing done, with the intro/interlude parts, but the basics are there in the July issue.
Wow, beautifull rendition! "Jock o' Hazeldean" aka "John of Hazelgreen" is a fiddle variant of the old Scottish ballad anthologized by Francis James Child as ballad 293. Wikipedia has a good summary of its origins. For those who want to try it on fiddle or flute, you can find sheet music and a backing track for it here: musescore.com/user/643986/scores/5403178
I'm a new fan. I love open D, and DADGAD. I feel I have found a kindred spirit. I have one I have had some fun with, CGDEAD. When I first began to use it, I thought I had "discovered" it. Ha.Enjoy.
@aemk612 For sure, excellent guitar! This was a review instrument for Acoustic Guitar, so I had to send it back, which was very hard :-) A different sound than the Ryan, which I also like a lot.
Doug, is the version in the July AG, the same as what is available on the AG website as a free download? Because the 2nd octave section...just hauntingly beautiful, is not included there :(
Just can’t get enough of this keep Ming back to listen, so beautiful almost brings tears to my eyes.
Absolutely beautiful. Mr Young you are one of the most fluid and graceful fingerstyle players on the web. Sublime.

@Desmond8043 yes, it's just the main verse. I haven't tabbed out the intro/interlude or higher octave verse yet. on my todo list!
¡Sublime!!!
Where is the Re-play button?
Lovely playing, great arrangement and a fantastic guitar. Hey Doug any Tab for this?? Whose the tasteless chump that didn't like it?
Великолепно!!! Спасибо!!!
Simply beautiful, Doug! Is this arrangement still going to be in AG?

What microphones were used? Small dynamic condensers yes, but I don't recognise the logo on them off the top of my head!
Doh! And I've just cancelled my subscription to Acoustic guitar mag, in favour of "Acoustic" here in the UK
