Some mistakes: The black keyboard isn't an old version of TouchWiz. It's just from stock ICS/JB. The floating shortcuts on the fake gs5 are actually part of the real gs5's settings and works exactly the same.
1: That is Google keyboard, not an out of date touchwiz keyboard 2: That floating widget is on the real S5 too, it's called toolbox. 3: It messed up in the beginning because it has proximity sensor control and you had your hand over it.
+Minorock93 because cameras don't pick up pure real life voice and you can hear differences. He intends to say fake s5 or real s5 but it comes out as real ass 5 or fake ass 5 because of the camera.
At my New Year's party yesterday a guy showed me his new second-hand Samsung S5 that he had bought for a low price. A few hours before the party, I had seen this video, and when he showed me his phone, I instantly noticed the white icon with the 3 dots.. and I questioned it, and he said that he had tried to make it go away, but couldn't... I didn't now if I should tell him that his phone was a fake.. I would feel bad if I did, because he seemed fine with it... so I decided not to tell him.. was it wrong of me?? :/
Umm the 3 dots are actually a feature that you can also find on the real S5 and is called a toolbox. That doesn't mean it's fake whatsoever so yeah thank for not ruining his night for no reason!
Fakes from china always have very weak battery. But then again look at the price tag. I would advise to stick to known brands, unless you are ready to get frustrated about many minor or major things and camera is one of them. Battery for sure. Updates will be nonexistent. Screen quality and touch responsivity will be weak. Built in memory will be low. Poor GPS. Might be easier to break due to lack of quality of materials and warranty usually will not apply.
Reinis Miks that is totally true , i guess an older model of a brand name phone would be available in the market for around the same price of this chinese fake , so it will be wise to buy the brand since it has a price tag of the same range , and im sure the performance will be the same or even better
***** Right now I am sticking with sony. That thing just won`t break lol. More than 2 years of hard use, and battery is doing fine, screen haven`t cracked even when falling in mountains/paved roads/concrete floor. Great display and despite low MP camera it still makes ok pics. Sony might be the new nokia in my eyes.
that little floating button with the 3 doots are actually in the real s5 to, i found it by messing around with the settings, you can turn it off its called toolbox and if you swap down the notification bar and go to the most right it should have the toolbox logo and if you press it it removes the floating dot, or it activates it depending on if it already where activated :)
this video doesn't tell the differences between the real and the fake. it just shows the similarities. this video should be called, "The similarities between a real and a fake samsung galaxy s5"
just download Genuine Galaxy from the app store to see if it's fake. Comparing menus, fonts, apps etc means nothing as it's all dependent on the version/build that is installed on either fake or real one.
But there is better fake versions available. I searched and found one with fingerprint scanner and heartbeat sensor. One version is waterproof too, or at least they said it in the website.. :D
I actually own one that has fingerprint scanner and heartbeat sensor. It also counts calories, and excercise, and I also can use gesture, and voice commands.
Thanks for taking the time to point out the differences between the real & the fake S5. I was curious as mine was a "as new" purchase, so I didn't pay loads for it, but I just ran through your checks & it seems by all accounts to be real, so I'm happy. :-)
+Gregory Diaz yes there are different version of the "real s5" lol many real s5s have a dimpled back. The best way to find out fake from real is to go to settings and see if it has the fingerprint scanner.
You have to wonder, with all these Chinese clones, if there are any types of keyloggers installed that will catch all of your passwords as you log into Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, hell, even your bank's Android app. That's the only reason I would absolutely NEVER get a clone phone.
+UBeeNStryKeD This is why the U.S. government doesn't use hardware they don't have datasheets on or haven't reverse engineered down to the lowest level. The only way for a consumer to tell is to monitor the device's packet transmissions. If any unexplained UDP packets are being sent to unknown hosts then you could have built in spyware in the device.
The little dot-shortcut thing on the fake one is on the real one too. It's called the Toolbox, and it's in the notification toggles, but is hidden by default on my S5 Active.
I loved how you didn't bash the fake phone..you actually say nice things. Alot of youtubers LOVE to bash fake phones..but..if the fake phones were mainstreme phones, they'd be licking it up and sucking upto it just to be in 'trend'
I'm using the real s5 and the crisp resolution astounded me and my family. There is a clear resolution difference between the higher end s5 and the "fake" reduced s5.
1: you are supporting a bootleg device? Kind of lost credibility, I want to unsubscribe now almost. 2: the floating thing on the fake IDs called tool box on the real one, not from iOS. 3: I don't have the time to point out the other flaws in this video......
Ricardo Vera Ya his comment was called for and also fake S5 has a way crappier display and bad touch screen with slow processor. Non of that you have mentions and just the fact that you promote the fake i will unsubscribe. A fake will never be as good in quality as a real one plus won't last as long take it from me bought a fake phone before no fun and loss some of my data
KevMack Olson you Made Nooo sense at all! Showing the difference Not saying it's the best thing make sure you buy one! I d think he will loose sleep over you Un subbing ! Your a weardo anyways lol
Hello, im from latin america and i have been researching videos like this for a long while, now i just found it and i am really satisfied and happy with the video review,no doubt about it. but i would like to make a suggestion for you, ¿could you make spanish subtitles, for all who doesn't understand well the english? will be a nice touch from you, for all spanish speakers. Amazing job, u got a new follower!
The white logo on the front of the phone can probably be scratched off with a coin to show the chrome logo underneath. I've seen it done a lot here in the Philippines on clone phones.
That strange little button is the toolbox. When you pull up your notifications there will be the WiFi, and Bluetooth toggles just swipe them left and you will see tool box. Click on that and it would go away. It's actually quiet impressive that they would put features in like that.
Overall, buying a fake is a poor idea. Sure, it costs less and works barely like original, but I bet that play store apps and actually whole OS was decompiled and those chinese programmers put some malware there. Definetly. For instance this weird call from someone, it stinks even from the distance. Then people are wondering, why their credit card data or google account data were stolen...
They can't 'pre-decompile' the Play Store apps and I highly doubt they'd stick malware on without some guys picking it up and spreading word online. The calls were in the history when he first turned on the phone.
Jak Clark sory for confusion, I wanted to say play store app and other google apps. This is not as hard to do, especially when You are chinese and want to eat.
What is scary? That you are getting a great value phone and not getting ripped off by corporations? How is it that for nearly same features you only pay a sixth of the price? What is scary there?
Jaroslav Kral Well, the hardware is not close. This thing is running with a MediaTek 6582 SoC (a budget SoC that has ARM Cortex A7(s) instead of the S5's ARM Cortex A15(s), which are around 1.5x to 2x faster than A7(s) according to ARM), which the S5's SoC, the Snapdragon 801, could probably run in circles around (probably because I haven't tested it, but most likely). The scary part, I'd assume, is that people will start to be able to pass off these Galaxy S-Fakes as real Galaxy S5s, and they could trick people in to paying closer to full Galaxy S5 price than they got it for.
Matthew Travous I aggree. People who try to sell it as original to pump the price up should be jailed. I was talking from my experience.I bought it as I wanted to try one of these and for my usage of the smartphone it is top notch. I benchmarked it with Antutu and my octacore MTK6592 version comes about 8000 points short to original S5 which averages at around 38000 if I am not mistaken. But still the most powerfull phone I ever had and I am very happy with it. I bought it from seller that made no secrets about the chipset or the brand of the phone and I knew up front what my trade off will be compared to original.
my friend got , s5 clone with fingerprint and other features from original s5 :D 2gb ram but mtk6582 processor which is as powerful as samsung galasy s3 processor :D
I bought my galaxy s5 from the verizon store, so I am fairly sure my phone is authentic. However, just like every s5 I have ever seen, mine has a dotted, not smooth back.
I agree. kinda shady to me that the reviewer didn't mention the resolution difference or compare something like CPU speed or a couple videos playing next to each other.
The button is the toolbox. Just swipe down slide the top bar to the right side and turn it off. And also , it's quite easy to differentiate both real and fake . Just with the browser or the messaging , the screen performance .
You guys wanna know how to test if it's real Galaxy S5? Try this: Go to the screen where you make phone call then push * # 0 * # then push "Sensor" then push "Image Test" If you do this correctly you will see Chihuahua sitting on top of seat cover, and if you see the doggy your Galaxy S5 is authentic! yw!
The floating widget on the fake is an emulation of the Toolbox feature on the Galaxy S5, which is meant to function similar to the pen window on the Note 3.
I also noticed that the screen extends from bezel to bezel on the real one, but there is a narrow black band around the screen on the fake. Did the fake one have AMOLED?
That circle thing is your toolbox on the phone and to turn it off you just need to hold on it then a remove button will show up, drag it there. And if you ever want it back simply go to your settings and click on it
You've neglected to mention that the fake version comes complete with a virus installed... for example ,“You might get one that has been tampered with and is sending passwords and credit card information.” This threat on fake phones is well documented on Google now.
It sounds like you knew you were taking a calculated gamble on this $117 fake Samsung. But yesterday i was astonished to discover that the headset jack on my brand new and just ordered from my service provider S5 is defective! The device recognizes that a headset has been plugged in, but the sound still emanates from the speakers. What has happened to Samsung's quality control?
believe me their warranty are just for show. i have a defective s3; problem with voice call after 3 weeks. no refund no replace no repair offer. last year i tool the plunge and buy a s5 3 months later the metal piece inside the charge port fell off and my s5 no longer change. had to buy a htc
Friend, you mentioned there is no mention of a fingerprint software, but in the configuration to block the screen and add a password, or code, there is an option that reads "fingerprint", go and search for it, it in did has an option to block the screen with your fingerprint.
So, my question.. Why don't the companies who make the fakes take the extra time to load in the real apps from the S5? In fact, they could probably make the real firmware work with a couple modifications+tricks, similiar to how people are hacking different versions of Android to different devices.
There is no need to unlock the phone and show them what's missing or has been changed in the fake version, you can spot the fake Galaxy S5 through checking the height.
Good video keep them coming.. ima Samsung Galaxy person 100% and I dont see why some heads on here getting mad yall acting like you the ones losing $ smh ... just subscribed
My sister-in-law got ripped off, I found a real quick test was to fire up the camera and as you move or wave it slowly around it blurs and the image has trouble keeping up. My iPhone and the real S5 have no trouble keeping up.
By the way, the little round drop down menu on the fake galaxy s5 is actually in the real galaxy s5. I have it in my real s5. you can activate it by going to settings and you can find 'toolbox' under the sound and display
that is android 2.3+ because the old easter egg was a picture, not an animation. and they probably replaced the zombie image with an image saying android. and also android 2.3+ comes with google talk
Hey there. It was a good review, however, here is what I would have liked to have seen, and surprised actually, that you didn't include it. °Remove the back cover on the fake: External SD Card: - Did it have a one? - If yes, max capacity support? - Physical Placement? Battery: - What type did it use? Samsung mock up? -NFC built in? -Capacity? -Smart Chip (when fully charged)? -Removable? Ip67 certified (lips on the inside cover that protect the case) : -Yes? -No? (it had the USB charge port cover, so wondering if it went all the way) Various: -Sim card physical placement? -Comparison of how the back inside looks - Since it seems the physical dimensions are damn near identical, Is the back cover actually swappable with the genuine s5?(if so, this means that the fake would likely support qi charging so long as the battery is actually swappable as well). °Some kind of processor test. S5 uses a snapdragon 801 @ 2.5ghz. It would be interesting to see what the fake is clocked at. It escapes me, but there are benchmarks apps that are able to detect how many cores and over all speed, and also able to name your device to see what it truly was. Otherwise, good stuff. Bonus if you address these questions, very curious. I'm from my Google plus account. Reach out! Thanks.
what suprises me (or doesnt suprise me), is how similar the quality and usability are between the fake and real S5. as an Android fan but iPhone user (personal issues with Android itself), i almost went with the Samsung over the iPhone 5S. So glad i stuck with iPhone.
Do you have the problem with the signal ? I understood that the logo is looking like that because there's some paint on the real one and it can be removed. Is that right ?
Some mistakes:
The black keyboard isn't an old version of TouchWiz. It's just from stock ICS/JB.
The floating shortcuts on the fake gs5 are actually part of the real gs5's settings and works exactly the same.
THANK YOU
why the heck would you not use cpu-z on the fake one to make clear what hardware its using...
When you said OK Google my device responded. Thanks. Lol
hahaha
1: That is Google keyboard, not an out of date touchwiz keyboard
2: That floating widget is on the real S5 too, it's called toolbox.
3: It messed up in the beginning because it has proximity sensor control and you had your hand over it.
I don't know why I keep hearing " real ass 5 , fake ass 5 " hahaha
+Minorock93 because cameras don't pick up pure real life voice and you can hear differences. He intends to say fake s5 or real s5 but it comes out as real ass 5 or fake ass 5 because of the camera.
Haha funny
*S5
hahahahhahahahha😂😂
ouru
The fake lags less..
*grabs popcorn...
yamums pussy lags less
LOL. No it doesn't.
Falcon Lord hi pewdiepie ohwait thats falcon lover..
Maqi cals hi wanna watch my 460 no skope
Didn't even mention specs. It has a 480p display vs the real 1080p, 2GB of RAM, and MTK6582 processor.
If this one is the $117 model, I doubt it's even 2GB ram. Most that price are 1GB or 512MB.
The real S5 isn't even real 1080p.
It's pentile :/
chrischoy9 still, better than 480p...
***** Pentile makes it fake resolution :/
You have a very smooth voice. I enjoying hearing your voice.

Gela Re u r right
no its probly better not to
Gela Re you're right it's a toolbox widget because I have one. And I have the real deal.
what about the cpu and battery life , this is the most important thing , do a performance test
It is a 1.3ghz quad core.
The Porsche 944 is my favorite car and I don't care what you think. have you tested it ? or you saw it on some website ?

that little on screen button on screen is called toolbox you have that on the real one too. it's just turned on by default on the fake one.
I paid $50 for my s5 and yayyy that overwhelming feeling when you find out that it's real!! It was a huge sale the night before the s6's release
+TechSmartt The triple dot floating thing is called the toolbox I believe. It is also on the real phone in settings.
OK obviously he knew nothing about the s5 or else he would have known how to remove it. he needs to stick with apple.
that little floating button with the 3 doots are actually in the real s5 to, i found it by messing around with the settings, you can turn it off its called toolbox and if you swap down the notification bar and go to the most right it should have the toolbox logo and if you press it it removes the floating dot, or it activates it depending on if it already where activated :)
this video doesn't tell the differences between the real and the fake. it just shows the similarities. this video should be called, "The similarities between a real and a fake samsung galaxy s5"
Gabriel Marro exactly, this was a seriously shitty and rambling video
just download Genuine Galaxy from the app store to see if it's fake.
***** I need tech support you seem like the guy
Lollercoaster119 hahah
I found a website that makes the phone seem really legit it's www.aliexpress.com/item/-/1960516825.html
IKR they said the s4 is water prof but idk
I actually own one that has fingerprint scanner and heartbeat sensor. It also counts calories, and excercise, and I also can use gesture, and voice commands.
Thanks for taking the time to point out the differences between the real & the fake S5. I was curious as mine was a "as new" purchase, so I didn't pay loads for it, but I just ran through your checks & it seems by all accounts to be real, so I'm happy. :-)
Actually, The real S5 has a bandaid-like texture and look on the back
thank you. mine does too
Yeah I noticed that too
+Gregory Diaz yes there are different version of the "real s5" lol many real s5s have a dimpled back. The best way to find out fake from real is to go to settings and see if it has the fingerprint scanner.
+Dillon Adkins Not necessarily lmao
Was going to post this too. I bought my S5 phone from a friend and it had this back but everything else about the phone is clearly a real S5!
is the fake one waterproof / water resistance ??
Hmm... Probbably Not
Yeah got or not
You have to wonder, with all these Chinese clones, if there are any types of keyloggers installed that will catch all of your passwords as you log into Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, hell, even your bank's Android app. That's the only reason I would absolutely NEVER get a clone phone.
Probably, that could be the main reason why they sell.
+UBeeNStryKeD This is why the U.S. government doesn't use hardware they don't have datasheets on or haven't reverse engineered down to the lowest level. The only way for a consumer to tell is to monitor the device's packet transmissions. If any unexplained UDP packets are being sent to unknown hosts then you could have built in spyware in the device.
it's not just clones but "real" ones as well comes with back doors that's why they don't want us to reinstall with custom ROMs
that moment you realize you have a fake s5
screen resolution also looked lower
The little dot-shortcut thing on the fake one is on the real one too. It's called the Toolbox, and it's in the notification toggles, but is hidden by default on my S5 Active.
Is there a school in China that teaches kids how to make fake things?
a school ?
dude, learning how to produce fakes are basics for them, like in europa or america english, math and german for example XD
I loved how you didn't bash the fake phone..you actually say nice things. Alot of youtubers LOVE to bash fake phones..but..if the fake phones were mainstreme phones, they'd be licking it up and sucking upto it just to be in 'trend'
The most obvious differences were the weird ugly logo and the green battery icon.
Agreed!
You just need to scratch that logo and there will be normal samsung logo. :)
I'm using the real s5 and the crisp resolution astounded me and my family. There is a clear resolution difference between the higher end s5 and the "fake" reduced s5.
1: you are supporting a bootleg device? Kind of lost credibility, I want to unsubscribe now almost.

buzzj89 You're comment was just downright uncalled for.
Ricardo Vera Ya his comment was called for and also fake S5 has a way crappier display and bad touch screen with slow processor. Amazing job, u got a new follower!
that fake s5 is obvious as hell
The white logo on the front of the phone can probably be scratched off with a coin to show the chrome logo underneath. I've seen it done a lot here in the Philippines on clone phones.
lol instead of candy you get the picture of the factory they made the fake s5 in.
Anyway im buying the fake one
Did u buy it?
Yeah... No.. bought the one plus 1
What is that
Its a nice phone
Lwazi Mathope how did u get it? Have heard it's a hard phone to get.. anyway I got a galaxy s5
You missed the Heart rate scanner!
I thought I was the only one who noticed that, there was an app on the fake s5 called 'heart rate' I suppose there's a real one?
That strange little button is the toolbox. When you pull up your notifications there will be the WiFi, and Bluetooth toggles just swipe them left and you will see tool box. Click on that and it would go away. It's actually quiet impressive that they would put features in like that.
where is keaton
Nice and funny lmao
+John Whydouneed really though
Where is keaton
That circular widget on the fake is called a toolbox, which the real s5 has as well. The difference is that the real s5 can turn of the toolbox widget

Wouldn't be difficult to stick a fresh copy of Android on, just to be sure. ;-)
And the fake one uses cheaper components made with child labor
that little widget shortcut is called the toolbox which can be used on the real s5 as well
Fake s5 sounded like fake ass 5. lol
When you said Ok Google my phone registered it as "I don't get a reply from the fake ass 5 "
You forgot to mention the heart rate monitor.
The heart rate monitor fakes results. It does it without even holding the phone.
I had the chance of reviewing an updated version of this fake myself.
for better content it is nice to include the specs of the fake because that is what really makes a flagship phone
they are getting better at cloning! Really scary stuff!
What is scary? That you are getting a great value phone and not getting ripped off by corporations? How is it that for nearly same features you only pay a sixth of the price? What is scary there?

is this the same guy that makes videos now cause his voice is more mature
benchmarks?
The little floating circle on the fake one is called the toolbox you can get it on the real one also
I am almost certain the people who watch your videos can tell a fake from the real deal.
Not everyone :(
That floating bubble is on the real s5 as well. You can turn it off from settings
my friend got , s5 clone with fingerprint and other features from original s5 :D 2gb ram but mtk6582 processor which is as powerful as samsung galasy s3 processor :D
The floating app thing is actually called the toolbox on the real S5 and you can activate it through the drop down menu or the settings.
Bro are you kidding me the " widget bar" is on both. I have a real s5 and I enabled to tool box wich is what it is really called
ya
you forgot to mention that the fake one doesn't have the private mode, one hand operation and also the extreme power save option
I bought my galaxy s5 from the verizon store, so I am fairly sure my phone is authentic. However, just like every s5 I have ever seen, mine has a dotted, not smooth back.
mine dose too and a scanner
I think that the real S5 actually has dotted or dimpled back. It's a feature of the phone that online magazine says the S5 has.
They all have the dimpled back. If you want to double check then test the heart rate sensor and finger print scanner AND the "okay google"
MRMUNCHEEE The real Galaxy S5 had the dotted back in the video. But, the dots were very small. I thought it was smooth to.
The white circle can be removed in settings. It is also a feature on S5 called toolbox or something. Very handy.
you can really tell that the fake one has horrible resolution
I agree. kinda shady to me that the reviewer didn't mention the resolution difference or compare something like CPU speed or a couple videos playing next to each other.
I'm not sure if it's the camera's focus, but the screen on the real looks better than the fake
Damn that focus blur transition was giving me a headache
That little floating thing is the tool box. You can find it even on the real one and it can be taken of by draging it to the top
speak up
Hi
The button is the toolbox. Just swipe down slide the top bar to the right side and turn it off. And also , it's quite easy to differentiate both real and fake . Just with the browser or the messaging , the screen performance .

Go to the screen where you make phone call then push * # 0 * # then push "Sensor" then push "Image Test" If you do this correctly you will see Chihuahua sitting on top of seat cover, and if you see the doggy your Galaxy S5 is authentic! yw!
my phone is frozen on it..
Steven Son
Frozen? as in your phone software is frozen?
Nevermind, My screen was frozen on the picture of the chihuahua, pressing the return button once didn't do anything, I had to press itm ultiple times.
Steven Son
Good, your phone is authentic Galaxy phone!
It was kindof frightening, because it had some of the features as the fake one xD
6:48 It's called a toolbox. I use it
The floating widget on the fake is an emulation of the Toolbox feature on the Galaxy S5, which is meant to function similar to the pen window on the Note 3.
That's extremely good for a 117$ phone. Some none fake phones within the same price range are not that good as this.
I also noticed that the screen extends from bezel to bezel on the real one, but there is a narrow black band around the screen on the fake. Did the fake one have AMOLED?
That strange little circle that floated around is actually a feature on the real S5. It is a an app quick launcher.
That menu that floats on the screen is on the real S5. It's called toolbox, you can customize the apps on it in the settings
keaton where you at
That circle thing is your toolbox on the phone and to turn it off you just need to hold on it then a remove button will show up, drag it there. And if you ever want it back simply go to your settings and click on it
Great Video. A few questions though... How is it making/receiving calls? and Does the forward facing camera work?
The fonts aren't the same, the real one is more slim, like Windows 8 or iOS 7
I wonder what the benchmark scores would be between the fake and the real Galaxy S5.
also that floating toggle on the fake is present in the original s5, it's called toolbox
omg the focusing in and out drove me crazy!
06:45 Swipe down from the menu bar at the top with two fingers, then select the option that turns off the floating button thing
I think it has somewhat of a fingerprint scanner. It's just not in the settings, it should have it in the screen unlock options.
The three dots on the screen is the toolbox, also found on the real s5. Its in the quick settings.
And you can see black out line around the screen that's the easiest way to spot a fake
That little button that floats is also on the real one but it can be turned on and off.
i would like to see an antutu benchmark, could you make a video?
that white circle button that drops down with the apps that you can move around is not from it being fake, the real ones have it as well.
6:45 You hold the back button
Hey there.
It was a good review, however, here is what I would have liked to have seen, and surprised actually, that you didn't include it.
°Remove the back cover on the fake:
External SD Card:
- Did it have a one?
- If yes, max capacity support?
- Physical Placement?
Battery:
- What type did it use? Samsung mock up?
-NFC built in?
-Capacity?
-Smart Chip (when fully charged)?
-Removable?
Ip67 certified (lips on the inside cover that protect the case) :
-Yes?
-No?
(it had the USB charge port cover, so wondering if it went all the way)
Various:
-Sim card physical placement?
-Comparison of how the back inside looks
- Since it seems the physical dimensions are damn near identical, Is the back cover actually swappable with the genuine s5?(if so, this means that the fake would likely support qi charging so long as the battery is actually swappable as well).
Reach out!
Thanks.
Those 3 dots in the circle are actually available on the real galaxy s5. It's an option called toolbox that can be turned on and off
It's pretty sad that people are asking about the features of the fake as if they're planning on buying it.
That resistive touch thing is in the real one too! But you probably know that by now
what suprises me (or doesnt suprise me), is how similar the quality and usability are between the fake and real S5. as an Android fan but iPhone user (personal issues with Android itself), i almost went with the Samsung over the iPhone 5S. So glad i stuck with iPhone.
The floating widget is the toolbox on the s5!!
Also the file managers is the sames as is what is on the s5!
Do you have the problem with the signal ? I understood that the logo is looking like that because there's some paint on the real one and it can be removed. Is that right ?
So, from a picture you can tell by the weird pitting and off-white on the back, and a white logo on the front.
