Kumar Samit Roy (1943-2008), who was not only a great musician but also a famous lyricist, singer and composer of Chittagong Hill Tracks, Bangladesh. He is considered to be the father of Chakma Rock and Roll music as before Chakma music was generally composed of folk or ubo geet (expressing love poetically). Through his songs, he evoked patriotism, nostalgia, romance, melancholy and harvesting time of Jum. Kumar Samit Roy created many memorable tunes across the '70-'80s, most of the tremendous creations are still remembered and bumbled by today's generation.
