  • Join Andrew and I as we get into all things going on in his world as of now.
    Andrew shares the details as to what is going on in Dance Gavin Dance with former vocalist Tillian being out of the band now. What the guys have planned for the future of the band, how exciting it is to approach the band from this renewed sense of excitement, and if we could see former members coming back into the fold in various ways.
    Andrew also opens up about how Eviscerate, the first in the adventurous double album Eidola JUST released. How it's been to see the reaction to that album a week after its release. As well as what we can expect from the follow up, Mend.
    Andrew also talks about the future of Eidola now that the ambitious concept contained within the bands music has now come to an end. We also talk about other mediums he'd like to tell this story, and a break down of the touring/music industry for a band of Eidola's size.
    You know we always go deep on these, this one is no exception.

    I like the ‘Let Jon front’ approach. Opens all kind of doors. They could tour with Johnny, Kurt, Andrew, as secret band, or a new vocalist. They can do the same with releases. Singles, EPs, or full lengths.
    Andrews a cool dude, I just hope Eidola isn’t abandoned. They’re killer.

      @@alexolguin5556That's not entirely true. Although they're likely to take a longer break between albums than previously, they basically said they have no current plans in mind. It's kinda like an end of an era but they'll be back for sure

    I’d love to file a complaint against the Andrew Wells haters. I’ve followed DGD for almost 20 years. This band is unlike any band, with releasing fantastic albums, the way they collaborate, through all the trials and triumphs. Eidola is also PHENOMENAL. I’m so glad he’s apart of DGD and I’m so happy he explained DGD so well. I have so many questions and thoughts and want to chat with you both so much about this especially the music and creative aspect. This was a fantastic episode!!!

    What Andrew said about instant gratification and maturing beyond that really hits me as a 30 year old who recently started working out and identifying and controlling my vices in order to make myself a "better" person. The being treated like a cartoon character/piece of entertainment is well put and extremely humbling, and it doesnt take much to empathise. I drove from just outside of atlanta to charlotte to check out the "an evening with friends" tour and i was really impressed with andrew there as a long time dgd fan. He does the tillian material justice, to say the least, and i think his renditions of older stuff are way better than tillians from the tree city sessions albums. I may end up checking the summer tour out even though the lineup is...rough lol.

    Andrew I’m sure you won’t see this message but regardless I have to say it. You are completely anointed by the Holy Spirit and God gave you an amazing gift to create beautiful music with an ability to write and compose a complete masterpiece of an album! When I listen to this album I see completely how you wrote this as a multifaceted understanding but I also see the spiritual warfare aspect and how you see the spiritual world intertwined completely with us. I pray protection over you and your career and wellbeing, keep it up brother!!

    It sucks that Andrew even has to explain himself, but on the same token, DGD kinda created that rabid teeny-bopper fanbase post-Instant Gratification. There was a marked change in the music and presentation to be more pristine and peppy compared to their older albums which sounded rawer and jazzier. Not saying the Tilian era was bad by any means, but there are fans who are glad for a departure away from that overly saccharine sound.

    Personal opinion but this is the best DGD has ever been, I saw Andrew do an acoustic set at the goldfield and he sang his dick off and made the venue seem 1000x bigger. Jon has always been fantastic and does a tremendous job. Will and Matt are both truly awesome at what they do. I'm here for this era of the band and hope the tour gets me an album of this lineup. I hope Sergio comes back to play bass too cause he's great with them. Might just be an old sactown idiot but I want these guys to make an even heavier record and play their asses off cause all these dudes are badasses at their craft.

    • @BREWtallySpeakingPodcast
      @BREWtallySpeakingPodcast  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Part of that was cause we’ve always talked about that, a lot of those same comments have been discussed at least the last 2 times he’s been on. So i wanted to deviate away from the same things, but the point i actually brought that up was that we’ve all seen that clip where all the newscasters are saying the exact same thing, ver batim, and how social medias not the only issue, but our mainstream media, even down to a local level…..hence why i said having my old local newscaster would be interesting to have them peel back the layers of what they were forced to push as “news” and how it is to be one of the people that people trust, or maybe hate, for doing their job.
      That said if you’d really like to hear us go down that social media rabbit hole, check out the last 2 episodes.

    Man I'll be honest, some of this was hard to listen to. I really like (or at least want to like) Andrew as a person but it's hard to hear him say stuff about "hoping we can get back to judging people's character in the moment" and not realizing how hypocritical that sounds when going on tour with ppl like Ronnie. Dude's proven his character and STILL proves it "in the moment." I get Andrew doesn't really care anymore (based on his villain comment) but it's just a bummer to hear someone that I used to really look up to say all this.

    • @DoYaPhilMeh
      @DoYaPhilMeh 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am sure nothing will change your mind but I am going to attempt to.
      Your "judging character" comment and insinuation that Andrew is letting you down by speaking this way I feel is a bit unfair, I think if you zoomed out and looked at the big picture you'd see that although Ronnie is a juvenile dick... He is still a talented musician that has a legacy making songs people somehow enjoy. The fact he is headlining these tours that other established bands like DGD are seeing as "big financial opportunities" speaks volumes. I'm sure you understand DGD in all it's forms is a unique band that doesn't really fit in a mainstream genre box, Tillian helped pioneer a marketable sound for them but they can no longer reap those benefits and they undoubtably have lost fans with his departure.
      Which brings us back to Ronald- Now imagine you are Ronnie, no matter what he does the guy can't exist anywhere without people spitting venom at him over his past mistakes, merely mentioning his name is enough to make people hiss like cats. We need to be honest that nobody wants to give him a chance- and at this point, nobody wants to see him succeed or do good things. They want him to act out again so they can point and say "SEE, I KNEW IT" because he fits the villain role so well and people love to doormat his name. Media companies profit off his name/controversy in a way that is just plain unfair.
      This is likely what Wells refers to and why he doesn't care anymore, he probably knows Ronnie personally and might not agree with everything he does but knows he is a harmless dude and they have a business relationship playing music. His "the fans see us as these cartoonish characters" was dead on, they are human beings. Surely you've known someone in your life that had a bad reputation for something that everyone knew them for but you really knew them and that they were just normal people with redeeming qualities.

    • @AsRiversRunDry
      @AsRiversRunDry 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DoYaPhilMeh So I'll start off and agree that I think it is a good financial decision for the band. I cannot fault them for that. They have always been a business. That became vehemently clear to me when they kicked kurt out to bring jonny back so many years ago. That's the only point I can agree with here.
      You keep talking about Ronnie's "past mistakes" when he is still very much making mistakes to this day and very much owning them. He spits vitriol at bands and artists he doesn't like and uses his platform to preach dangerous rhetoric and has no remorse for any of it. So no, he's not just some misunderstood dude that Andrew must know better than the rest of us. If I had a friend like Ronnie then I would very much cut ties with him, especially if he showed no signs of changing.
      So in the end no, you won't change my mind.
