Pleco Biology: Understanding a Specialist Carnivore, Leporacanthicus in the Aquarium.

Leporacanthicus, the galaxy and vampire plecos are specialist carnivores, likely feeding on invertebrates (insects, molluscs, snails etc.) yet in the aquarium they are treated as clean up crew. These are fascinating oddities, plecos available for the aquarium which can be kept with a wider range of fishes.
These fishes are a bit more boisterous and aggressive then other Hypostominae and can be kept with a wide variety of other tropical freshwater fishes in the aquarium such as slower feeding cichlids, discus, silver dollars, pacu, many other catfishes and a variety of other fishes.
