I love the color palette of this painting. I relate to what you’ve said about monsters. To me, there is nothing more fascinating to draw or paint. I love darker themes aesthetically though also I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat so drawing things that scare me help me deal with them.
The aesthetic of this piece is stunning! And I loved hearing all about your process and the different authors and artists that inspire you/you enjoy. It gives me some new individuals to check out and books to read! I also love that you didn’t set out to ‘create’ a style or try and make your works fit this style...it’s something that I struggle with and don’t know if I’ll ever fully develop. I like that more organic creation of a ‘style’ and the ability to branch out as you grow as a person and an artist. My biggest fear is that I’ll end up ‘stuck’ and cease to grow and change - or that I will be pigeonholed and stuck into a ‘box’ with no way to escape it. I’m glad to see that having a visual consistency comes naturally based on your own preferences (because you have a very obvious visual consistency even if you don’t try to create one!) 💜
I remember when I was 5 years old in 2006 I watched the doctor who episode age of steel behind the scenes and seeing all the cyber man drawing and it bloo my tiny mind.
I absolutely love your style and technique it’s absolutely beautiful and inspires me to work more with surrealism because it’s something I’ve always loved but never been able to really get across the way I would like
I'm so glad you answered so many questions, it's so much help to see how other artists go about their work And how their processes change with time! As a fellow artist who just started her TH-cam channel I love the insight that you give! Great painting! (as alway)
I agree, I love hearing about other artists' evolution too! I just feel bad the video ended up being quite long, haha. Good luck with your TH-cam channel, I check it out and it's off to a good start! If you don't mind me saying though, you might want to watch out for your footage, it was glitchy and I kept thinking my TH-cam had crashed. But beautiful drawing :)
Myriam's Illustrations no the video wasn't long at all. Thank you, unfortunately that glitch is youtubes issue and they are currently working on it (bad luck on my part) but I have my fingers crossed!
Myriam! You are so talented and I am literally obsessed with you. I'm an artist as well and I usually just work on my own pieces and let your videos play and it hella inspires me and makes me feel less lonely. Keep making art and new content! :))
Oh how much I love your style~ It has this creepiness and yet it is so beautiful, I think that is what I like about it so much. Many artists tend to draw cute or beautiful things and your style is just something that attracts me. The shapes of the body and also the coloring and shading. LOve the color combinations in this one a lot and you painted that gold so amazingly that it gives of the feeling to be real gold.
Thank you lovely!! Having a darker style can sometimes make it a bit more difficult to find a niche and a following, but ultimately, it helps find people who truly like one's art, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)
You´re very welcome dear :) Yeah that is true for sure! Who likes your darker style, really just likes your style and what you do and of course you! Hehe~ I can see why you don´t want to have it any other way. It is nice to have some people that like what you do
This is amazing. So much beautiful detail. The bowl of gold was worth the struggle - it looks phenominal! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on so many different things. Looking forward to round two.
I forgot to say how stunning the piece is overall. I LOVE the color palette. Deep, dark blues are my favorite colors, and the colors you used with them look so good. I found myself staring at the finished piece for quite some time.
i love brandon sanderson, im currently reading words of radience and it definitely makes me look up fan art and draw my own version of the characters. great video!
I'd definitely say your art is a cartoon style! I don't mean that *at all* in a negative way (I love your work) but i personally think your work is very stylised to the extent of being "cartoon" in some aspects.
I'm just reading Elantris for the first time. I love Sanderson. He's the master of creating worlds with religions that fit the geography of the world and different morals and opinions of its nations. I haven't read any Stormlight Archive books, I wait for at least one more book to be out so I won't have to wait for way too long (^▽^), but I try to read as many Cosmere books as I can. I still have the second era of Mistborn to read so I'm not out of Sanderson yet. ^.^ What do you think about his non-Cosmere works? I've read Steelheart and quite enjoyed it, but it's no The Final Empire, is it. ^.~ Oh, and I love the painting, of course, I just had to ventilate my love for Sanderson. ^▽^
Thank you Christina! And thank you again for your support on Patreon!! I like that your opinion changed on this painting, that's an interesting development :) I started reading The Wheel of Time because I knew Sanderson had finished it, but could never get past the first book......
Great art. thanks for sharing it. i feel the pattern on the bowl could be more distorted as it reaches the sides of the bowl(seems a bit flat) the description state your paper as: 638gsm watercolour paper?
I agree, I wish I had focused on that bowl more, but I was getting soooo stressed out about that I decided to leave it, or risk overworking it past the point of no return..... I learned for next time at least 😊 and yes, 638gsm. Thiiiick paper. I wish I could work on that weight all the time.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful art and sharing about your process and art journey. Can you please share the names of the artists you mentioed that inspired you? I won't be able to know how to spell them! :joy: The only one I know is James Gurney...
Myriam, this painting makes me think of my brother: he has schizophrenia, and he says he "has seven people in his head talking to him all the time"......

Hahaha, me too!!!!
Myriam, I really think this painting is fascinating and the concept is intensely inspiring.
omg Brandon Sanderson is my absolute favorite author! I love when i come across others who love him too!

Oh I see! Damn, that is bad luck! Hopefully that will get sorted asap then, good luck ^^

Shiroichi Art Hi! As one who also likes creepy art I would like to recommend an artist called Tanya Shatseva.
You´re very welcome dear :)
Yeah that is true for sure! Who likes your darker style, really just likes your style and what you do and of course you! Hehe~
I can see why you don´t want to have it any other way. It is nice to have some people that like what you do
Thank you very much for the recommendation, her art is really nice :)
Shiroichi Art No problem! :)
I looove this painting and I loved seeing it come together! also your gold painting skills are so impressive.

I know you said that you struggled with the gold in the bowl, but I'm very impressed... looks GREAT!
I simply love the way you add "tattoos" to your work... It is gorgeous. Would love to try it some time!
My Inspiration to draw things that express many feelings. ❤️
So satisfyinggggg😍😍😍I love your art, I love everythingggg
Your videos and art is so wonderful! I also think, that you're totally right about the reference thing. Thanks for mentioning it!
Thank you!! I feel strongly about references, so I'll be talking about them more I think :)
Jean Giraud was the best.
I'd definitely say your art is a cartoon style! I don't mean that *at all* in a negative way (I love your work) but i personally think your work is very stylised to the extent of being "cartoon" in some aspects.

Myriam. Do you use primary colours + b&w or do you have a collection you use? I'd love to see your collection and learn your process.
thank you for this great video and answering my question

Jean Giraud was french ;) . Love your work, btw.
Awe we actually used gold glitter during my 7th grade art class when doing ceramics.
YASSS
Gah I would have loved to have this original!

Who was that fist artist you mentioned? the Belgian graphic novelist.
Jean Giraud 😊 All the people i mention are in the description !
