Judging by what Shu said my thinking is there’s 2 scenarios: 1) a big sponsor behind Mikuru really wanted to ruin Ren’s reputation and decided to blackmail Akazawa and give him money. 2) GEN gym people decided to work together to try to blackmail Ren and get money. They tried to sell it to Bunshun for money but failed(?).
