You've got to admire the purity of a dry toast only restaurant. Even if it does mean that everything else is brutally difficult. It's a bit of a weird economy in the world of this game, make a diverse menu and hardly anyone comes but only offer dry toast and you get huge numbers of customers who are really impatient for their toast. BTW smoked salmon and cream cheese on a bagel, delish.
Saftey hob probably would've been fine, the disruption of burning things probably caused more issues than having a slightly slower hob would've as you could just leave it unsupervised. Alternatively an extra grabber and prep station might've given enough room to put a full loaf through the danger hob
10:07 My personal lore is that the barrel is where Lewis stores the beans. After seeing it next to the coffee table, all the customers decide they'll just have some toast instead.
Tom should have stuck with his original plan of automating the safety hob. The reason why the toast supply was running out is that Tom had a brief lapse in concentration, burned a slice of toast in the oven, then had to run across the kitchen to throw it away. The distraction of watching the oven constantly also prevented Tom from setting up more bread loaves, which led to the rest of the toast shortages. If Tom had set up the safety hob to cook the toast and the oven to cook the loaves, then he could move more freely to make new loaves or clean floors or set new loaves in the slicer, rather than having to babysit the toast in the oven the whole time.
The music from this game has been permanently laser seared into my brain after watching this so much. I keep catching myself whistling it and I do nothing to stop myself.
We have a shop in my neighborhood famous for honey toast: thick cut japanese toast (like four inches thick) and the middle is cubed, returned to the crust, and there's honey and ice cream on top!
In the off chance this gets read, noise colour is a real thing and is determined by the strength of that noise across frequencies. Very basically if the noise has more energy(is louder) at low frequencies it is pink, more at high frequencies makes it blue, and if evenly distributed it's white noise.
the only research desk thats random when researching it is the actual research desk, after that they follow down the line of blueprint > discount > copying > blueprint etc
They should have used the danger hob to cook the loaves, not as a toaster.. Waiting for the loaves to cook is what was slowing them down, not the toasting prices.. Love how they did a practice run, it didn't work, but they still decided to roll with it
Daily reminder that Tom is an amazing person and to thank him for all he has done/will do - Day 1017 What a nice toasty episode :D WOOOOO so fantastic XD We do really need an uncut version as there is so much good shit we're missing XD, I mean there was an entire Star Trek episode God, the end of Overtime Day 3 was so chaotic XD Such a fun time. can't wait for more :D
If you're planning on automating your restaurant you have to use safety hobs, at which point the best way (or only way) to increase production is to get more safety hobs and grabbers.
The only thing that jumped out as a possible save would have been having a bunch of conveyers after the Danger Hob. enough to hold most if not all of the toast? They really need to add in a way to lock the smart grabbers so they do not get changed all the time. MEGA ANNOYING! Though it would also be nice to have the dish washer auto start when full...
Yeah a safety hob can absolutely keep up with the speed you can serve toast haha. Probably both of them serving but then these guys would have forgotten to watch bread levels and would have lost that way anyway
I think maybe splitting from the danger hob to two different conveyers to two frozen prep stations could give enough buffer that you could remove the loaf of bread before it's too late? But it's hard to say since so much was cut
@@RubelliteFae This was likely the best idea, if at the end two frozen prep stations were filled, the next day would start better. They had the money and should have been re-rolling and making the big buys. Though I would have likely done the same, cause I did not think of it till after the fact.
Keep an emergency plate near the hob, stops the cooking until you're ready to restart the conveyor. Much easier than 'edging' the toast but admittedly not as funny.
I used to get excited when I got given a dishwasher but honestly with how slow it is I almost always trash dishwashers now lol depending on the setup, I find wash basin or power sink are FAR better, especially if you can get a scrub brush
It was so frustrating that Tom after a day completely forgot he wanted to automate. Also frustrating that Lewis thought safety hob would be too slow. The whole point of automation is that it is literally never stopping what it is doing so it will be ahead of you because of customer wait times. Danger hob could have been manned by Tom to make bread faster. With toast fully automated (i.e. not needing fireman Tom to watch it) Tom could move to managing dishes and let Lewis only take orders. I question Lewis' decision making under pressure.
Nah. All it needed was a singular grabber between two prep stations of toasts and fire would never have been a problem at all. Safety hob would keep them barely alive for max a day or two
Has some been feeding Lewis gravlax claiming its just smoked salmon? :p Gravlax = overnight (or longer) salted raw salmon. Salt removes moisture so it changes the texture of the fish & makes it last longer. Gravlax & eggs on a rye bread is what I'd go for when such ingredients are readily available. Such as Finnish day after christmas where breakfast is scraps of the feasty buffet.
Restaurant: Ends because of queue outside, not the raging kitchen fire XD As for what I would've done differently? Hmm....If you had a door to the dinning room, putting out sharp cutlery before the dinner rush could've maybe helped get people through quicker? And a wash basin (with scrubbing brush) for manual washing when the dishwasher gets backed up. But, I think it was the 25% extra customers that REALLY f*cked you over (that card lulls you into a false sense of security - you do perfectly fine to begin with, because 25% of 20 is just 5 extra, but, 25% of 60 customers is a BUTTLOAD more people X3)
the danger hob was obviously the wrong choice there, safty hob would of won you the round, doesn't matter if it's slower it wont burn and lets you do other tasks, the less obvious one was the automated dish washer, if you used the soaking sink instead you would of constantly clean plates feeding back, so if lewis filled up the dish rack to the soaking sink first those will be cleaned and sent back while the excess dirty plates go into the dishwashers and while they are cleaning slowly you still have plates clean and back in the rack and further more you can add additional soaking sinks for faster cleaning. If this was my solo play through i would of focused on automated dirty plate removal asap and have a convyer circle around the top there closing off that door feeding into a dishrack then pulling into soaking sinks in the top corner where the research tables were and convyer. You can get a copier desk early if you instead put the first research desk in the filing cabinate then buy the bigger plates and better sink instead then next day you have a high chance (not gaurantted but have no research desk gives you high probability for getting one) of getting another research desk then you buy that one and upgrade the one in the cabinate
I just watched some other video where lewis goes on a tangent about calling something pink noise but then debating with himself what color of nose it actually was. I think it was even another plate up vid.
Does Lewis even get paid for these? Feel like he walks into any room in the office and the people are too scared to say no, while somehow he forgets this is his job and he usually gets paid for it.
QUESTION for Mr Plate up developer-san! Could you theoretically put napkins, candle AND sharp cutlery on a table all at once? (Cause ALL of those on a table cloth table would be cool af) Also, I SWEAR I've seen pics of people doing a breakfast run where they have sides like eggs and bacon? Or am I sleep deprived enough that I've started hallucinating?
Have you watched DS9? By the sound of it, it seems like you didn't. But in basically every highlight of you and Ben talking about TNG, there were many comments about how you should watch DS9 and how you'd probably like it.
i love how offended Lewis was at the concept of having a cheeseboard for breakfast
Its one of my go to's on the weekend 👌
@@John-nu2lj Just like Hatfilms,. Wine or cheese?
I mean a cheeseboard for breakfast is pretty bizarre.
Smoked gouda and lox, or berries and cream with stilton? I can see it.
@@CoreyKaha I find it very common where I live at restaurants
Love Tom setting up the grabber to automate filling the prep cooler, than proceeding to only use the safety hob to cook full loaves and not slices xD
😂 all I've been thinking for the last 5 minutes, having to concentrate for every single slice of bread rather than just for the thing you do 3 of!

I mean, if they only offer one dish, it MUST be the best on the market, right?
/Game logic
Add some capers to that bagel, Mmmmm
I prefer whole grain toast over a bagel, but fully agree with the salmon and cheese combo.
Your making me hungry just by mentioning it
Bagels and lox smack so hard

Gotta love it when you think the video is over, but there's still 1/3 of it left to go
Nice to see that they fixed the bug of when Lewis wasn't appearing in the game!

I knew I liked you, Tom. Eggs Benedict is a quality breakfast choice.
The best!
The Ven diagram of Tom fans and Eggs Benedict enjoyers is a circle. This is a threat ;)

I'm glad this video wasn't seperated into two, I love a nice long 30min video. (Not Joking.)
major quality of life improvement for me was when i just started buying 6 apples and putting them on my computer desk. i love random apples.
They got a lot of the automation down, but truly the safety hob would have been the better choice
yea... having the danger hob as a backup would have been better

Danger hob was clearly the better way IF Tom didn't continuously saturate the portioner with new bread when they had 8 toasts ready to go.
